Pistachios, pretzels and nostalgic candy, yummy!

An amazing selection of candy, fruits, nuts and chocolate. Always my go to for gifts. The baskets are beautiful also. Exceptional customer service! You will be so happy you visited this store.

Cathy suggested that we go to Scrumptious and Alyssa immediately thought that the idea was great since she had been wanting to check the place out. After finding free street parking in walking distance to the shoppe, we arrived shortly after 3 PM to a fairly quiet store. An old-timey candy shoppe/ice cream parlour that sells sweet treats, specialty bottled sodas, and a wide selection of homemade ice cream of classic and unique flavours, Scrumptious is a sweet tooth's heaven. On the day of our visit, the venue was clean, tidy, and perfectly air conditioned....Maki was welcome to sit inside at our table with us. Insert happy face emoji here - I SUPER love dog-friendly places. I had a complimentary taste of their Tropical Koolaid Sorbet, but passed on ordering a full scoop [only because I didn't want to spoil my appetite for our tea time]. Cathy had coffee ice cream, Chris went for the GIANT ICE CREAM SANDO (looked pretty standard in size to me), and Alyssa ordered a cup of Hershey Waffle cone ice cream, all of which were served with a friendly smile. As the three enjoyed their frozen treats, Mom and I got a kick out of going through the aisles of nostalgic candies. There were a lot of new, cool candies, too. Mom ended up purchasing a few candies as well as a souvenir Scrumptious zip-up hoodie. Scrumptious is mos def one of the sweetest places in the Denver area.

They offer free tours, which involves watching a short clip about the history of Hammond and then watching the employees work through a looking glass. It was neat learning about this candy business; I've never heard about it. I love learning origin stories because it gives me an idea of the company's values. I think it's amazing that they HAND MAKE all their candies. They have cute paper hats that you can wear. In addition, there are some areas for good photo opportunities. After the tour, you are gifted with a candy cane! You are then led into their candy store. You obviously don't have to purchase anything, but to complete the experience, it doesn't hurt to walk away with some chocolate. (: I'm not from Colorado, so I'm not sure if the prices were cheaper or more expensive than the grocery store (I'm going to assume more expensive). Regardless, we did buy some things. I got a Hammond chocolate bar, some discounted chocolate from their clearance section, and their popular Mitchell Sweets. The Mitchell sweet is $2 for a small packet! My husband liked it, but I thought it was extremely sweet and I only took the tiniest bite. I feel like that little packet can go a long way because of the sweetness. They charge $0.10 for a bag. I didn't want to pay for a bag, so I just used my paper hat as a tray. lol Overall, I did enjoy the visit. I like that it was free and candy cane gift at the end was the sweet cherry on top of the tour.

What they work on varies throughout the year so it may not look the same if you come multiple times. The best part is getting a full-size piece of candy at the end - we got candy canes (maybe that's what it always is?). You end the your at the candy store which is nice but mostly overpriced. If you only want the candy you can go to a Lolli Pops store - they were acquired by Hammond's and now sell the same goodies at their stores. In short, kind of fun to do but wouldn't go out of my way to do this. Best if paired with something else nearby which is what we did, a playground not too far away (there isn't much very close to the factory).
