Probably the best customer service we have ever experienced…read more We purchased two appliances from MH&P and from our first visit to the showroom until the completion of installation we were treated extremely well. Installation was on schedule, clean, friendly, and professional. MH&P followed up to assure our satisfaction. We had an issue with our Stove where we were concerned that the view into the firebox was not quite what we were expecting. Jake got on it, sent a team to investigate and adjust the flame, and eventually swapped out the glass so that our expectations were met. It was obvious that he would do whatever it took to please us. It's easy when everything goes as expected. It's how issues are resolved that are the difference between a good company and a great company. MH&P earned a great!

However, this last experience was absolutely awful and so unlike any other interaction and service we've received from this company. We needed our pellet stove fixed and it took SEVERAL appointments for them to send a technician out to fix it. Here are our frustrations/complaints that has left such a bad taste in our mouth. 1. Disorganized. When we would call the office, it was impossible to reach someone and when we eventually would, the same person would say she couldn't help us because she didn't know where our file was. This happened on MULTIPLE occasions and we've been a customer for over 5 years! 2. Contradictory Information. First, we were told that we would have to install a flue ourselves, but then received a call a week or so later, asking when they could book a time to install it. We told them that we were told that WE would have to install it and needed clarification. In the end, they confirmed that it was our responsibility to install the flue. Here's where the most frustrating part comes. One of the technicians that came to our house to fix the pellet stove told us the length and direction the flue should be, writing down the parts we would need. Then, on a subsequent visit (since the pellet stove was STILL not working), we were told the flue was too horizontal, so we changed it. On another visit and with a 3rd technician, we were told that we couldn't have a T and had to have the flue come straight out. Why would your technician suggest we take the flue the other direction we had planned and to keep it short after we would be putting in the 90 degree turn!? Why didn't he tell me you cannot have a T or 90 degree turn when he wrote down the pieces himself that we needed and then allowed us to order them. And how ethical is it to allow customers to purchase something through you that is eventually determined to be the cause of the stove not functioning!? As per the receipts, we paid $641.60 (-$47.80) = $593.83 for something your company eventually said we cannot use. 3. Bad Pellets. We assumed that one of the technicians took the pellets from his truck, because instead of using the pellets we had next the the stove (that are dry and new), we found a bag of bad fuel outside in the back of our house. We store our pellets in our basement storage room and in a bucket next to our stove. The pellets that were in my stove were filled by your technician after we had to leave. If the pellets were bad, why did he put them into the stove? And then, in a conversation with you, WE were the ones blamed for putting in bad pellets! Pocketing $600 and then placing the blame solely on the customer and giving contradictory information is not a great way to run a business. 4. Lastly, we were never given a breakdown of the cost, until we asked for it and it was vaguely written out in an email. We've always received invoices from you in the past! Our final straw, when we decided to get the Better Business Bureau involved was not when we believe you owe us a $600 refund, but when a month after the service debacle, we were told we have an overdue balance!!! It was cleared as a mistake once the BBB reached out to you. But this whole thing has been a stressful nightmare. I'm not sure WHAT has changed this past year, but it was a completely different service and experience than what we've had in the past. It's been incredibly frustrating and disappointing for our family. We were asked not to write a bad review, but I feel like as a business, it would be helpful for you to know why we are upset. We've been nothing but patient and understanding, even in so many moments of frustration and that amount of times you had to send technicians out to figure out what was wrong with our pellet stove.

I just got an email from Goodrich Chimney offering discounted services to get ready for fall. I…read morerealized I never wrote a review on the work I contracted with them to complete. Bought a house and the chimney was in disrepair. They suggested I put a sleeve in the chimney stack instead of repairing / replacing the bricks that could allow embers to gain access to other parts of the house. Could be a huge issue if the house were to burn right? The sleeve was inserted, but now the smoke from the fireplace would fill the room. When I asked for them to come and fix it, they just told me that I would have to start the fire directly in the middle of the fireplace. That didn't work, so I stopped using the fireplace for a bit of time. Later, I went to a different company. They did an inspection and noted several issues with the sleeve installed by Goodrich. Once you see the photos below, it makes complete sense why the smoke was coming back into the house! Why didn't they cut the excess length off the sleeve and allow the smoke to draft completely. Even so, the diameter of the sleeve was also questionable - so everything they did was just money down the drain. I absolutely cannot recommend this company and wish I had read Yelp before hiring them.

Do Not Hire - Disrespect, Poor Workmanship, and Broken Promises…read more We hired Fireplace Solutions and Services for a $37,000 fireplace remodel, and the experience was extremely disappointing. Although, in general, the fireplace does look good from afar, as you get closer anyone will notice the inconsistency and lack of workmanship. Especially for a project at this price point. Note: We did use very large format tile (4'x9') but this was communicated to their whole team multiple times. The project finished on time (2 weeks) but was clearly rushed. Our biggest complaint was about the hearth installation. It was the last thing to get done and was rushed leaving uneven and chipped tiles, untooled caulk between the floor and tile, grout haze, and some other minor items. Also, I raised concerns about the original thermostat placement three different times and was told it wouldn't be an issue. It now reads 16 degrees higher than the rest of the room. Although it was moved when they came back that day - see below - it has left a drywall patch that I now need to take care of. The owner (Steve) initially seemed helpful and agreed that all the issues needed fixing. A crew came back but spent just 2 hours doing cosmetic cover-ups. They left a bad drywall patch, didn't recaulk, and left even more grout hazed than the first time. When I followed up, the owner (Steve) completely changed his tone. On the phone, he told me "All you guys do is keep b***hing" and called my wife and I ungrateful. Since then, he's ignored all my calls and texts. I've only asked for partial reimbursement for the bad drywall patch and damaged hardwood floor -- and have heard nothing back. (They damaged the floor by dropping a tile). Now I am left covering these costs and possibly redoing the entire hearth at my own cost. This company showed total disrespect, dishonesty, and poor workmanship for us as clients. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

We hired them to install a large fireplace wall and hearth, and the results are not only sloppy but downright unsafe: * XL tiles are literally peeling off a the wall 10-19 feet in the air. Could fall and seriously injure us or our dogs. * Chipped tile edges, raw corners sticking out, and uneven grout lines everywhere. * The hearth was rushed and poorly done. * Left a dent in our wall when moving the thermostat. At first, Steve (the owner) promised to fix things, then completely flipped on us, calling us "ungrateful" and asking when we would "stop bitching." He ignored us for days and became hostile even though we were nothing but kind and respectful. The installer, Jesse, complained nonstop about how long the project was taking and clearly rushed through the job. When Steve finally sent him back, he was here for only for 2-3 hours and did not re-do anything, basically just put a bandaid on it. We now have clamps holding tiles to the wall just to keep them from falling and hurting someone. Steve has shown ZERO concern for this major safety hazard. Instead, we're left disputing the project and trying to get our money back. WARNING: This company is dangerous, unprofessional, and a total nightmare to work with. DO NOT USE FIREPLACE SOLUTIONS.
