The resort is quiet, I could not tell if many people were staying here. There is a store and gas here. I would recommend going to the grocery before you arrive. The room was nice and had plenty of room in the 2 br lock off. Staff was very nice.

There's plenty of sleeping room with 2 king sized beds, one in each unit and 2 couches, one in each unit. The king beds are so comfy and we slept good. The down stairs B unit was like a cute little apartment. There's a jacuzzi that I regret not using but you need to close both blinds on either side when taking a bath. The shower is big with a door. There's a washer and dryer in both units. There's a big enough kitchen and sitting space in both units. The only problem we incurred on day 1 and 2 was a broken air conditioner. However, maintenance was out asap and fixed it both times with a quickness. The maintenance staff seemed very nice and helpful. The second day we were there we went and enjoyed the wellness center pool and saunas which is very clean and there's putt-putt and other games outside. We were told that one of the beaches/lake sides was open but we never found it. If you are looking for other things to do on your stay, chimney rock is nearby. Asheville is almost an hour away and black mountain is about the same. You'll have a good time and have plenty of choices for food and fun if you go to either.

Fox Run at Lake Lure is a hidden gem. I traded to this resort through RCI. They had very few…read morepictures and next to nothing written about it. Actually, I was a little apprehensive coming here for that reason. The only reason I came was that I knew it was a beautiful area since we had been here in the 90's. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. This morning I went exploring and it is absolutely beautiful. Let's start with the unit. They are small detached houses with cathedral ceilings. The looks are deceiving since the house is terraced on the mountainside. As you enter the front door there is a staircase that goes down to a whole other level which is the master suite. The main level consists of the second bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. There even is a washer and dryer as well as a juccusi. I am so happy with the accommodations. Now the amnenities...I went exploring this morning and ended up taking an aqua aerobics class at the pool area. The pool also has a lazy river and a kids' play area. On the way to the pool is a beautiful golf course. I may even try golfing during this stay! For kids there is miniture golf. There are ample tennis courts as well as playgrounds. Of course, there are plenty of lake activities. You can rent pontoon boats, kayaks, jet skis and canoes. I am excited for my kids and grandkids to arrive so that we can enjoy all that Fox Run has to offer.

Highly disappointed with Fox Run unit 16 vacation rental. We decided to leave after staying 3…read morenights (we had it reserved for 7 nights through RCI exchange). We should have been leery when the check-in area was at a mobile trailer. We were greeted with a strong whiff of a stale musty odor as soon as we opened the door to the unit. The unit is extremely dated, circa early 1980's architecture, decor, and style. It certainly has not been updated in over 30+ years. It is a split level townhouse with the main bedroom, bath, and laundry room in the bottom level. The kitchen and dining room are on the top level and the second bedroom and bath are on the entrance level where the old parquet floor is peeling up. The walls and ceilings are marked and stained everywhere and cob webs in the corners throughout the unit. Bathroom and kitchen fixtures are all outdated and laminate flooring had seen better days. We only used the refrigerator and decided not to cook because the utensils, dishes, and cookware were limited and appeared dirty. We wore our shoes in the unit at all times because I could tell there was a layer of grim on the floors and the carpeted areas needed shampooing. Then only thing that was recently updated were the wood decks outside of the living area and main bedroom (although, the outdoor furniture was rusted and we didn't trust sitting on them). I would not recommend staying here until this unit is gutted! I do not know if all the units are this horrible or not, I can only speak for Fox Run unit 16. As far as the area goes, the unit is located on an average golf course, otherwise there is not much around and you are in the middle of nowhere. Also, if you want to use any of the amenities at the "resort", you have to pay an additional fee for use of the pool, tennis courts, and fitness center, which we did not. The unit is approximately 30 minutes from anything else including a grocery store. So be prepared to drive for any type of activity.

We enjoyed our visit to Lake Lore and this cute fabulous cabin on the river. The staff was…read moreextremely friendly, during COVID-19 they did take precautions and unfortunately did not have breakfast for you which is no problem because everything is within walking distance. We stayed in one of the cabins that overlooks the rapids, it was absolutely beautiful. The room that we stayed in had a completely remodeled bathroom which had a beautiful shower with river stones as the base for the shower. Everything was conveniently located to shopping restaurants and Chimney Rock State Park. We definitely will be back, the only thing that we did not like was the fact that it was extremely noisy having the parking lot directly in front of your room and a main road less than 30 feet away from your cabin. We took advantage of a boat tour on Lake lure, we had hoped to rent a boat on our own but please understand that you will need to book these boats two weeks in advance. However, there are so many wonderful things to see, unfortunately we did have some rain but that was OK. Again our stay was pleasant, we did not give five stars only because of the noise that we had from being so close to the road and the cabin facing the parking area for customers. We did have fresh coffee every morning which was really nice for coffee drinkers! Thank you so much for the hospitality and we hope to see you soon. The only thing that we wish was that it was "dog friendly"!! Highly recommended.

It was pretty awesome that we could hear the river running all night. The kids got some good pictures in the morning. The room was semi updated but we had everything that we needed. The rooms are on the small side but it's a trade off the the view. Cable TV in both rooms. Mini fridge and sink. Microwave. Breakfast was simple but ample. Waffle maker, oatmeal, danishes, cereal. They had coffee so I was good. All of my kids found something to eat. The only reason I am not rating 5 stars is because the bathtub did not drain well so we took showers standing in a pool of water and when we first checked in there was a big ole house roach in the bed. I'm not talking about the big black cockroaches that you might expect near the woods, I mean a house roach that rolls with 1000 other roaches. Definitely a turn off.

We were camping in our RV but there are so many great accommodations if you don't have anything to camp in. To me the best thing was the bathroom and shower! I have never been to a campground that had such great showers!! Incredibly clean and they have shampoo, conditioner and body wash in there for you to use. They even had towels rolled up in cubbies! Who has that! We loved it so much that we already booked a spot for next year :)

I played golf at Apple Valley resort last year with a couple of guys who talked on and on about this place. I couldn't get a reservation last year, but this year I did. Their menu is not amazing but it's adequate and their are some options that seemed appealing. I went with the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and the grilled salmon as my main course. The tomatoes had an interesting sweet glaze the covered the grilled pork bites. The salmon was a very large portion and came on a bed of rice with grilled squash and asparagus. It was better than I expected. I was somewhat disappointed the only fresh fish option was pan seared trout. I really like trout but typically the pan seared is undercooked. They also had a Mahi special but it was pan seared. Over all an really good experience and I would recommend it but do strongly suggest a reservation. There are many outside tables for patio dining as well. There is plenty of free parking on a large surface lot.

Very nice interior, staff in restaurant very quiet and not engaged. Basement has a speakeasy bar/lounge that you must visit. I believe the filet is what to order here, I saw a lot of filet being served and it looked much better.
