A very serious ice/snow storm was forecaster for our area and, as we don't have a generator at our home, we needed to find a hotel on a main road that might not lose power. Due to their reviews and location, we chose to stay at the Fairfield for three days. While power went out at our home for over 25 hours, the power and the internet at the Fairfield remained in place. We had selected a room with a king bed. The room was tastefully decorated with ample sources to charge our electronics. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable. Though, I really think the bathroom was the most remarkable aspect of the suite. The shower is quite large--as is the bathroom itself--and the bathroom mirror has LED lighting, The breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) was outstanding. There were eggs and bacon or sausage, a pancake bar, and a very generous cereal and granola bar. Finally, the staff--including the manager Nick Tarleton--couldn't have been more helpful, friendly, and focused on the cleanliness of the facility. Hunkering down in the hotel (unable to leave because of the storm), we saw them often. A special shout-out to the woman who manages the dining area--she was a delight to encounter each morning. Unfortunately, their pool area was closed due to updates, however, we did go into the gym which contained new equipment and generous options for working out. To summarize, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Fairfield. Very easy access off of I-26, which makes it a great base for seeing the many sites and mountain destinations for which western North Carolina is known.

On my last visit, I got back late from a performance so I appreciated the multiple entry doors and all the lighting in the parking lot as the spots in front were taken. When I arrived, I was given a feather-free room but on the second floor. The room was clean. The walls were on the thin side or the couple next to me were just loud talkers. The tv lineup was good for the little time I was in the room. WIFI was in the good range. Breakfast had a pancake maker; waffle maker, mini quiches and breakfast sandwiches; some cereals; oatmeal and breads. The hotel is good for an overnight stay.

The Main House accommodations are good but it is kinda nostalgic in the cabins. We had one of the Front Deak Staff - Joe - really help us out. We were no able to stay on our first reservation because of a sleet storm. Joe was very helpful in getting us set back up for a new reservation. I had several calls and emails from him about special events - one was an art and craft event. Joe was very welcoming when we arrived and was able to give us wedding ceremony info for our Son's upcoming wedding vows. Thanks for all the help Joe. This property also has an adjacent restaurant - Season's which is fabulous. Lots of stuff to do on property and within a short drive to Flat Rock and Hendersonville

It's hard to believe that this quality can exist at the attractive rates offered by this establishment. The fine dining restaurant and weddings were grand affairs. Unfortunately, the couple who bought it in early 2000s, bought it at a very low price, refinanced taking out the equity, and ran it for a couple of years until the stress had them part ways and they declared bankruptcy. A former co-worker told me he thought they walked away with over $1 million dollars. It is tragic to see such a beautiful, historic landmark treated this way. And then it was bought by a middle eastern man who ditch the historic name and used his own. I hope one day this lovely inn will be treated with the respect it deserves.
