Just took a super quick trip to just breathe some good fresh mountain air. We have spent many many vacation and getaways here in North Carolina and have said often let's check out Saluda. Well it's beautiful! This quaint mountain lodge is a gem for sure. The location is amazing as you can see from the pictures. The staff was so genuinely friendly and kind. We had car trouble earlier on our trip which set us back a few hours and the young lady at the front desk was super empathetic and forgiving of us being late. The rooms are "dated" as I read in several reviews however I disagree they are perfectly balanced for the era of the lodge and the surrounding area. You can alway drive to Asheville if you are looking for modern hip place to stay but if you are looking for a clean friendly comfortable setting with breathtaking views. Check this place out! Saluda Mountain Lodge was a great find on our recent trip to South Carolina. It was easily accessible from the highway, I-26 in North Carolina, only 0.2 tenths of a mile turning left off the exit. It was easy to find with the entrance sign being large and colorful and a drive up the hill revealed a charming strip hotel with beautiful views from both the front and the back. Being just one story tall each unit had parking directly in front for ease of loading and unloading baggage. Checking in was very easy as the proprietors live right on site. Our room was reasonably priced and we found it very clean and comfortable. The king bed was a plus and provided a great night sleep. There was a large screen TV, refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was very clean and the shower had great water pressure with softened water as an added bonus. The Lodge is located about a mile from downtown Saluda. The town is small and if you enjoy an eclectic mix of shops and restaurants in a glimpse of old town USA you will enjoy spending some time here enjoying the sights and sounds of an era that seems to have gone by BUT still exists for those of us willing to slow down a bit and search out the pieces of America that our heritage was built on. You can bet that the next time we head down I-26 we will plan a stop at the Mountain Lodge and a little time to shop in historic downtown Saluda. Now, it will be good to know that most of the eateries close early so the Subway may be your only choice of 'dining' for the night, but that is a small price to pay for the overall wonderful experience you will have if you take the time to explore one of our remaining small town gems.

My husband and I were traveling on I-26 and happened to be able stop in at the lodge for the evening!

A very serious ice/snow storm was forecaster for our area and, as we don't have a generator at our home, we needed to find a hotel on a main road that might not lose power. Due to their reviews and location, we chose to stay at the Fairfield for three days. While power went out at our home for over 25 hours, the power and the internet at the Fairfield remained in place. We had selected a room with a king bed. The room was tastefully decorated with ample sources to charge our electronics. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable. Though, I really think the bathroom was the most remarkable aspect of the suite. The shower is quite large--as is the bathroom itself--and the bathroom mirror has LED lighting, The breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) was outstanding. There were eggs and bacon or sausage, a pancake bar, and a very generous cereal and granola bar. Finally, the staff--including the manager Nick Tarleton--couldn't have been more helpful, friendly, and focused on the cleanliness of the facility. Hunkering down in the hotel (unable to leave because of the storm), we saw them often. A special shout-out to the woman who manages the dining area--she was a delight to encounter each morning. Unfortunately, their pool area was closed due to updates, however, we did go into the gym which contained new equipment and generous options for working out. To summarize, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Fairfield. Very easy access off of I-26, which makes it a great base for seeing the many sites and mountain destinations for which western North Carolina is known.

So I have been staying here a few times a year. Parking is around the perimeter of the hotel and you can use your key to enter from doors near where you park. On my last visit, I got back late from a performance so I appreciated the multiple entry doors and all the lighting in the parking lot as the spots in front were taken. When I arrived, I was given a feather-free room but on the second floor. The room was clean. The walls were on the thin side or the couple next to me were just loud talkers. The tv lineup was good for the little time I was in the room. WIFI was in the good range. Breakfast had a pancake maker; waffle maker, mini quiches and breakfast sandwiches; some cereals; oatmeal and breads. The hotel is good for an overnight stay.
