Moxy will forever and always be my go to. It's the perfect balance of eclectic character with the classic amenities we all love. Asheville Moxy is our new favorite. It's centrally located downtown and includes little pieces of art from local artists. The rooms itself are decorated with a slight outdoorsy vibe and the staff is truly incredible. Everyone is so welcoming it makes you not want to leave! If you're looking for a nice place to stay when in Asheville look no further!

My wife and I are in town and decided to try the Moxy brand by Marriott for a few nights, since it's centrally located within walking distance of many restaurants and shops, and The Biltmore isn't far away. At first glance, the hotel looks nice. We parked briefly in the loading zone out front and went inside. One immediate surprise was that there's no traditional front desk -- check-in is on the second floor. A sign near the elevator would be helpful, as it wasn't obvious where to go. When we reached the second floor, we found a lively setup: a bar on the left, Starbucks on the right, check-in in the middle, a pool table, and even a dog adoption area next to the check-in desk. This is definitely a very dog-friendly hotel -- there were a lot of dogs during our stay. The associate who checked us in was excellent. She thanked us for being Titanium Elite members, wished us a happy anniversary, and included two complimentary drinks at the bar, which was a nice touch. Parking is $14 per day, or $17 for in-and-out access. When we headed up to the room, there were no luggage carts available. As we exited the elevator, we could hear a dog barking in one of the rooms, and the noise echoed down the hallway. Once we reached our room, the barking was still noticeable. We went back downstairs to get a cart and mentioned the barking to the staff, and they said they would check on it. The room itself is on the small side and feels fairly tight -- definitely not as open as the Marriott Presidential Suite we stayed in the night before, but that's expected with this brand's concept. After unloading our luggage, we went back down to the bar to use our complimentary drinks. The bartender was very friendly and made excellent cocktails. The food coming out of the kitchen looked great, and other guests were saying it was very good as well. This was our first night at the Moxy, so we'll see how the rest of the stay goes, but overall it's a fun, modern hotel with a great location and friendly staff.

My first impression is small but unique .. very Manhattan style hotel design, micro but boutique. I like the design and colors. My room has a great view of the mountains. This review should be more like a 4.5 because they do excel at what their goal for this hotel is. Check in at the bar. Fast. Friendly. Small area to sit and visit by a fireplace. Board games are scattered throughout the hotel spaces. People love to gather in the evening, visit and drink. Food. Rooftop restaurant and bar with indoor and patio seating(opening in Feb 2025). Great views. Across a 2nd floor breezeway with the next door Marriott Aloft. At least a dozen coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. Room. I am a mix. Love the shower design. Decent counter top for the sink space. The bed is comfy. The view is beautiful. The TV pulled out and pivoted from the wall. Coming for a short stay that is purely for sleep and relax and walk downtown Asheville, then you will enjoy your stay. I do not feel it is suited for longer visits due to lack of space to spread out and sit as well as very little clothes hanging options. There is no in room coffee maker, frig or ice bucket .. you have to go to the hotel front foyer for coffee. (UPDATE: Manager stated if I was here for a lengthy stay she can solve some of these.) Access: Little space on the street for ride share or friends to pull up and drop you off. I provided the Aloft Hotel address for pickup since it has a pick up and drop off area. Workspace: None in the rooms. However, the first floor and its loft have plenty of shared space to setup including power outlets. The Aloft has space as well. Others: They share a 3rd floor rooftop pool with Aloft. Cabanas, lounge chairs, bar tops, an outside bar and a great view of the mountains. The gym is spacious and has lots of options with a view of downtown Asheville. Enjoyed the complementary earbuds and ice bags.

View from door 2 beds against the wall. Sink in room

Marriott's boutique hotels leave a lot to be desired. At The Moxy, in Asheville , you have to enter into a crowded bar area to check in at the bar. With the elevator is directly behind you, there is guest confusion with a terrible layout where people are bumping into one another. Don't expect any assistance with your bags, there isn't any. For the absorbent price, this place is lacking more than I can begin to explain. Coming off the elevator is less than impressive- it looks like you're headed to a janitorial closet. The hallways are the whole experience is not a good one. The rooms are ridiculously small, double queen room has no desk, no chair, no side table. The sink is in the room so, if your partner gets up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, you get to hear them washing their hands. The beds are foot to foot against the wall so, your partner or you have to scoot over you cannot get out of the bed from one side. I wish I could say the beds were at least comfortable, but they're not. They are not up to Marriott standards, at all There's some ridiculous IKEA style plastic cushions on a platform with no back support so that cannot replace a couch or chair. It's like they really don't want you staying in the hotel room other than to possibly sleep. Even with my Marriott platinum status, I was unable to get an upgrade and could not get a room with any type of view whatsoever. Marriott needs to do better. This is awful. The artwork on the walls is cheap crap, the lighting fixtures are also cheap and limited. Everything is cheap looking but yet they get more than premium price for this hotel. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I would suggest finding somewhere else to stay. I dont see the "charm" or "vibe" at all!

Moxy is in a great location downtown and has a really cool vibe. The hotel is on the newer side compared to some of the other hotels in downtown. You check in at the bar and they give a drink ticket (a bottle cap) for a free drink, which I didn't use because the drink options are limited to just a few things and nothing that appealed to me. The rooms are small, and it was weird how the beds were situated. The bathroom was cool and I love the rain shower. The lights were the weirdest thing, one switch seemed to control all the lights and that switch was by the one bed, so you had to climb over the bed to reach it. Maybe there was another way to do it, but it shouldn't be so complicated. And you should be able to turn off particular lights and not just everything at once. The game area on the upper lobby is cool. Parking was only $15 for overnight if you pay through the city. Great location, cool vibe overall.

The lobby was cool. The beds were comfy. Everyone seemed nice. The pool was warm even after 8:00. It was an overall good experience. Also there was square toilet.

Before coming, I read that the Gingerbread House competition had just ended and that the displays were still up. When we arrived, I didn't realize parking was now paid $30 which was surprising since the first time we visited it was free. Walking up to the hotel is impressive on its own. Seeing how this massive structure was built out of stone so long ago is amazing. Inside, there was a video playing that explained how the hotel was constructed, which was very informative. The roof being made of solid concrete to help make the building waterproof was especially interesting. When you walk through the front doors, the entry is grand and open, with huge fireplaces on both sides. The gingerbread house displays were spread across two floors and were absolutely incredible. It's amazing to see the talent, from young adults to experienced artists. Some of the displays look incredibly realistic. I added photos, and hopefully the video of the grand prize winner shows as well, it's truly impressive. We walked around the rest of the hotel for a while and then stopped for lunch (see my restaurant review). The food was excellent. We hope to return one day and stay here. I'd also love to come back and play a round of golf here.

We decided to stay there on the last night so that we could make use of the spa, which I think was the right call. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and the best think about the Omni Grove Park Inn IMO. The views from the terrace and pretty much anywhere are breathtaking and even if you're not staying here I recommend drinks on the sunset terrace to take it all in. I was really looking forward to my spa day. I had called a month before and was told they were booked for everything, but a wrap service. I booked myself a 80 min wrap and my husband a day pass at the spa. My husband wasn't nearly as excited as I was, especially when he learned it would be an electronics free day. He purchased a book at the spa gift shop to get him thru, but if you're someone who doesn't like a day of relaxation I'd recommend getting a book ahead of time. The spa itself is full of many different pools inside and then a smaller pool outside. I spent most my time laying on the outside deck near the pool. It was cooler in the morning but then the sun came out in the afternoon and it got pretty warm out there so I was thankful to have some cooler pools to jump in. My wrap was amazing. When Sarah came to get me for my appointment I told her I originally wanted a massage and she told me she could switch my appointment to that, which was interesting since the front desk did not give me that option both on the phone and when i checked in. I stuck with the wrap which also included a massage and it was the most relaxing 80 minutes ever. I'd book the same exact service again and request Sarah. I also had the avocado toast at the outdoor pool, which was so so. My husband said his poke bowl wasn't much better. Our room was outdated as we had heard. I dont think I would have been happy spending a week there, but it was fine for a night. We grabbed an early reservation at the sunset terrace for dinner. The view was incredible and the food (filet, salad and shrimp cocktail) was fine like the rest of our experience. Our room did come with buffet breakfast. I wasn't too hungry to enjoy it, but my husband seemed to really like it. I'm glad we got a spa day so would possibly book again if I wanted to enjoy another one while in the area, but wouldn't book the hotel on it's own.

I ended up lining up our extra pillows under my duvet and was able to sleep ok that way. The noise level - cool but old building equals creaky floors, thin walls, and in our 2nd room, loud pipes. Our first room was so loud above we couldn't even enjoy tv at night let alone sleep (of course we had someone who seemed to be logging steps all evening and throughout the night). Positives: Breakfast - we included breakfast with our booking thru Hotels.com, and very glad we did. Service was slow but very friendly. Although I didn't believe them at first, included is any breakfast you want. You order anything off the menu and they remove the tabs from your bill. All the food we had over 3 mornings was fabulous. The water - filtered (and sparkling) water station in the lobby. We stopped by and filled up each day. Service - every employee was friendly and helpful. They happily moved us from a 2nd floor to top after night one was too loud. Restaurant staff always nice, valets were friendly. Great location - easy in and out, perfect location to roam downtown, loads of good restaurants nearby Rooms - decent sized rooms and bathrooms, comfy pillows, power curtains and large windows. Overall after I crafted my own soft mattress and relocated to a top floor room, we ended up having a great stay.

This is located right in Biltmore Village, which I heard had a lot more going on before Helene made her way to town a few years ago. :( It's right next to the Biltmore, but there's not really a lot in the area. In fact, when we first pulled up we noticed it was situated right between a McDonalds and a Hardees and wondered where we were staying. The lobby is very cool and modern....and all the staff were very welcoming. When we checked in we were told we were staying in the manor across the street. I don't remember booking that part of the hotel, but the man at the front desk mentioned he prefers those rooms. It's literally right across the street so super easy, but it's across the busiest street I saw in Asheville which requires waiting a very long time at the crosswalk. I didn't see very many people during our 4 nights in the Manor and wondered if we had it all to ourselves. The room itself was nice, clean and modern. There were little things i liked (ex: liquid hand soap) and things i didn't (ex: no trash can in the bathroom) but overall we were comfortable. And my husband mentioned many times he was very happy with the TV situation. While our stay here was fine I did regret not staying elsewhere. I would have loved an area to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather and just more in the area. I did like the room a lot better than the night we spent at the Omni Grove, but think i may have preferred staying at the Kimpton downtown or at the Biltmore where we could take advantage of the hiking, biking and everything else they have going on there.
