Nope. The only way to renovate this place is with a bulldozer. The staff was rude - from the front desk, to the bartender, to the hostess. All of them. My shower had 1 temp - hotter than the sun; literally scalding and unusable. I went to the front desk to ask if there's another room that I can shower in. I was told they are completely full. The place was a complete ghost town. So I asked, really?completely full? Then he said, either occupied or dirty. Dirty I believe. Hey guys, If you don't know how to run a hotel, don't.

**MUST READ**MOUNTAIN LAUREL**TIMESHARE REVIEW (INTERVAL)* FAMILY WITH 3 CHILDREN AGES 11,6,3 THE PLACE IS MORE LIKE A MOTEL THAN A RESORT AND SPA - We were shocked on how run down this place is. Lots of mold, leaks, rust, cracks, and just major wear and tear everywhere you look from the parking lot, hallways, bathrooms, pool, and the building is literally falling apart. And that is the main issue with this place - the structure is just too old that you cant just hide it with new appliances and a new lobby. They have a sign that says they are going through renovation but we didn't see any evidence of it happening. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. THE STAFF - Not sure what the deal is with interval and this place but we had the worst customer service experience here even before we begin our vacation. Two days prior to our arrival, the staff at Mountain Laurel (Charlene and Kelly) advised us that they don't have a room for us and that we were on a waitlist. They said they are working on it. We were shocked as we booked this a month ago and we have a confirmation both from interval and Mountain Laurel. Who does that to a guest letting them know two days before they arrived that they don't have a reservation with no apology whatsoever. They basically ruined our vacation even before it started. Again, we do not know the deal is between them and interval but interval confirmed our reservation. We didn't want to drive 9 hours to Pocono with little kids not knowing if we have a room or not. Nobody offered any explanation and nobody apologized from Mountain Laurel about this very stressful situation. Kelly, Charlene, Rhonda who promised to call us back never did. Everyone seems to very eager to go home and leave the next person in charge to deal with the issues. We followed up with Matt who were kind enough to call us back at 12 midnight for an update and confirmation. Matt reassured us that we have a room. THE ARRIVAL -10 PM - You would think that after all this, the staff would try to make amends and make you feel better. It got worst. Kelly (asst. manager) who happened to be at the front desk could care less and handed over two keys to my wife - no maps, no directions, no extra key to the back door, and no pleasantries whatsoever! My wife was overstressed after travelling for 9 hours so she walked out. I went in and found Matt and he was helpful giving me directions, map, and the extra key to the back door. We were put on basement level 3 as far away from the lobby. NOTE: You need an extra key if you're going to park on level 2,3,4 something that Ms. Kelley didn't even bother to mention to my wife. THE UNIT (ONE BEDROOM SUITE) - We can see some new upgraded appliances but plenty of rust and mold in the room. Forget about view because there's none. The room wasn't clean properly with grease stains on the coffee table and floor and even the towels were dirty. The patio is full trash and growing weeds. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. THE AMENITIES - You have to pay for every thing you want to use - ping pong, billiards, arcade. My kids enjoy the pool but the outdoor is full of dead and live bugs. And the indoor one is just really old and neglected including the bathroom. THE RESTAURANT - The food (meh). The service very slow. Well lets just stop there (sigh). THE NEW OWNER - HIGHGATE SHOULD RETRAIN THEIR STAFF ON CUSTOMER SERVICE! THE GENERAL MANAGER APRILL PERUGINOE SHOULD BE AWARE OF HER STAFF'S UNCARING AND UNPROFESSIONAL OPERATION. WE COULD SEND A LETTER TO THE SVP OF OPERATIONS AT HIGHGATE FOR THIS BUT WE WAISTED TOO MUCH ENERGY ON THIS ALREADY. WE'RE CONSIDERING CUTTING OUR TRIP SHORT. HOPEFULLY THIS REVIEW CAN HELP OTHERS OUT. GOOD LUCK!! (It seems there is a limit on photos - we have pictures of molds, water stains, crack, rust and grime. Too much to upload here but heres vids https://youtu.be/0CPKzmccjq8 https://yelp.to/qTKq/6NNHC0eDJY https://youtu.be/klYDcYVP_Kw

Although some of the staff was "sort of" nice, the place was a outdated, the hallway smelled like cigarettes, the pool was dirty, the ice machine broken, one of the hot tubs also broken, the other was dirty. The beds were definitely not queen size and they were worst mattress i've ever slept on. The mattress was ripped, the sheets were old and rough, the towels were old as well. The shower was also broken. The TV was from the 90's. There was also no way to make a local call; they attributed that to "the charges" whatever that meant. There was NO WIFI. Overall the "resort" needs to be updated. It felt like i was in a 80's TV show. Not a horrible experience but definitely not worth the price.

Filthy

One of the worst experiences of my life. Front desk was rude. Elevator wasn't working. The room was filthy! Cockroaches, spiders, stained furniture and pillows, visible dirt in the floor, rusted porch furniture and holes in wall of the bathroom. It was so filthy!!!!

So I have to admit I was a bit worried thinking that I was coming to this location. I had read a few negative reviews on the web, however, my overnight experience was not bad! (Time share stay) Our apt, although outdated, was spacious and clean The first thing I did when we got in the apt was search for bed bugs and to my surprise when I flipped up the sheets the mattresses were new crispy clean, so were the sheets and the covers and pillows, "whew" Bathrooms were clean and they even had Bath and Body Works shampoo and soaps. Water pressure was good. Lol 1 flat screen tv in the livingroom 1 tube tv in the room Ac's were ice cold No Wifi in apt Stove was outdated but functional All the amenities were open for use. Both pools, restaurant, game room, fitness room etc. My inlaws stayed the rest of the week with our 5yr old and they took advantage of everything and had a nice time. But they will not be returning. They have def been to much nicer timeshares. The facility could use a good facelift in and out.

So I arrived at 12:05 roughly and I was done by 12:13 being checked in. I was charged as if I stood from 5-10-19 till 5-13-19. When in reality I arrived the 11th. So I was charged roughly $260 something dollars. Not only that. He stated he tried saving me money yet had me checking out on 5/12/19. I was put in a room with no refrigerator and no microwave all because is not a suit. Mountain laurel is not the place I recommend AT ALL. Worst experience ever. They will rob you of your money if u are not paying attention. I am extremely unhappy with this establishment.

Coming back here after more than a decade, I wonder what happened to this place. When I was younger the halls were bustling with the laughter of kids and the parking lot and activities were full of people. Now it seems like a ghost town during what should be one of the peak times of the year. The carpet in our room is dirty and activities that are supposed to be scheduled have been cancelled because there aren't enough people willing to show up. (My mom and I were literally the only two people who showed up to the once weekly yoga). There seems to be a lot of ads for things to do (and a shuttle to) Split Rock, which has many times more people so perhaps it is a partnership to try to save this anemic resort.

There is so much to mention, I'll just make a list; 1 The Lodge, the rooms, the common area, the spa- The actual building/facility is so well kept, clean, inviting, good ambiance and vibes. You are greeted by staff when you arrive, who park your car ,escort you in, take your bags, etc. The lobby is so inviting, a gourmet snack or drink will be offered to you upon arrival. The guest rooms are big so peacefully decorated clean and modern. 2 The Grounds, beautifully maintained open space; a lake for boating, birding talks, bike riding, axe throwing, group hikes, wine tasting, garden demonstrations, outdoor exercise classes. there is an exstensive garden that grows produce for the chefs menu. 3 The Restaurant, wonderful selection of food and drinks, live music. Make a reservation ahead of time to get your table and time. 4 The Activities (included in the price), check out their website, classes are listed ahead of time, and you should sign up for them before your stay. Here's the ones we did; kombucha making, painting, fire making ,yoga, birding, axe throwing, wine tasting, cooking demo, Bosu Ball, Zumba, live music, sleep therapy, veg garden lecture, wood working. There is also every exercise class imaginable. Chef samples and different types of non alcoholic drinks are always available in the common areas. 5. The Spa (not included in price), upscale clean, talented massage therapists We went in 2020 and 2023 and are planning to go back next year. 6. Other things to note; Guests are probably 80% women, mother daughter, women's weekend, things like this, not many men except couples. I recommend booking your activities spa and restaurant reservations ahead of time so you get the spots you want. This can all be done online. The Lodge is not cheap, but it is so well worth it! Among the staff, Griffin at the front counter was a pleasure to work with. CONS: they charge you extra to use the common amenities (pool, gym, arcade, etc) and then extra on top of that for the water park. The electronic room key also failed and the carpet in our room wasn't clean. The line for check in took a solid 20 minutes. Longer than any other place I've been to. We also found a few bugs in our room OVERALL: not sure if I would come back here. The staff and the amount of amenities was amazing, but the cleanliness and the prices are very questionable

This review is being given a year after the visit due to my experiences with this company. Save your money and go to the Kartrite *NY* instead, a direct competitor of this company, who I rated 5 stars 3 years ago. My review of the Kartrite detailed that we had an awesome family getaway -- super friendly staff, a full schedule of kids' activities, scavenger hunts, and even the indoor/outdoor hot springs. It's organized, clean, and actually delivers on what it advertises. Split Rock was the complete opposite when we stayed in May 2025, while I was 8 months pregnant, as a babymoon and celebration for my first born before finally becoming a sister. From the moment we arrived, things were disorganized and poorly managed. We waited over 2 hours total just to check in in line in the lobby, and were given notice we would hear when our room was ready (a common practice advertised for families who want to use the water park before they check into their room), however no communication about when our room would be ready ever came so we waited again for an hour in the same line later on. The waterpark was only partially functional, with multiple attractions out of order, dirty bathrooms, and limited food options available. We "upgraded" to a Willowbrook suite specifically for the hot tub in the room -- which didn't have any working jets OR hot water. The room lacked basic essentials like soap, extra toilet paper, and even a trash can in the kitchen. One of the two AC units didn't function in the room. We later found out (on day TWO) that the property was under a boil water advisory, after we had already been drinking the water for our entire stay, WHILE I was 8 months pregnant. Dining was just as disappointing -- a $25 all you can eat Memorial Day "BBQ" that was actually one plate only, which included an undercooked hamburger, and resulted in my family getting sick the next day. Activities were inconsistent too -- advertised movies were changed without notice, and the WiFi didn't work when we tried to salvage the evening in the bedroom with a movie instead. The final straw: no hot water on our last morning. I chose not to make a scene during our stay because the front desk staff were clearly overwhelmed and dealing with many similar complaints. This is not a staff issue -- it is a systemic failure of this business. What makes this truly shameful is what happened in the months after when I tried to professionally handle the situation, without even asking for a refund which I really should have given the horrific standards not meeting appropriate living conditions. Following our stay, I sent a detailed and fair account of our experience similar but longer than this review. The Manager whose name I will redact at this time responded and offered a complimentary one-night stay "for two" (despite our two-night stay and the extent of issues). I responded promptly, reasonably asking about options for our family of four and a comparable experience. Then... nothing. I followed up multiple times over the course of an entire year with no response. As the certificate approached expiration, I reached out again simply trying to book something as the email requested I do when I was ready to try again. Still no response. At this point, it's not just about a bad stay, it's about a complete lack of accountability and follow-through. I hope this behavior in the year after is due to something more than lack of care. I no longer trust that I would have a safe visit for my family if they did offer me to stay. Now, I would only request a refund. I gave Split Rock every opportunity to make this right before posting publicly. Waiting a full year with no response is unacceptable. This was supposed to be a special final trip as a family of three. Instead, it was stressful, disappointing, and frankly unbelievable. I never thought I'd write a review like this -- but this experience earned it. Rooms: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Location: 2/5

If you're an absolute beginner, it isn't a bad introduction to the world of snow sports. It's a small "mountain" and therefore very beginner friendly. They have a completely closed off area on one side that is entirely for beginners with conveyor lifts, very gentle and short slopes, and a short chairlift. There are also two green trails on the mountain designated as "slow skiing areas," though they might want to police them better as there were still several daredevils blasting by us. The whole process for rentals and lessons is a well-oiled machine and easy to navigate. My 11-year-old son had never been skiing or snowboarding before and was anxious to try. So this seemed like a logical spot to bring him. I had been here plenty of times as a kid in the 90's, but this was my first time back in decades. We came on a Sunday in March and arrived at 7:30. It was already crowded with cars and people at that point but we still got a good parking spot and picking up rental equipment was no problem. My son enjoyed his snowboarding lesson and was loving how quickly he was learning. I bought a lift pass for me + helmet rental, and a beginner package for him (this included snowboard/helmet rental, one hour lesson, and restricted lift ticket). All together this was $293, which seems wildly overpriced for the mountain we were on, especially considering my son was stuck to the beginner area all day unless we upgraded his lift ticket. But I guess this price is common in the skiing industry these days, and I hate to think what the big mountains out west are charging. If you're an experienced skier/snowboarder and live close by, it's probably not a bad place to get in a quick fix. As an experienced skier myself, it was a pleasant day on the slopes, but got a little boring after awhile. If I'm going to pay an arm and a leg, fight hordes of people all day, and drive for a few hours to get there, I'd rather do so on a bigger and more challenging mountain.

We enjoyed the views from the chair lift and felt pretty safe. After the lift, we hiked over to the restaurant at Summit Lodge. ** Of note, the website says it's a .6 mile trek, but it is definitely 1 full mile as we were told upon departing the chair lift. We finished our meal and hiked back up the mountain arriving at 5, to discover that the lift was shutting down for the night. The operator said someone should've told us that it stops running at 430. Initially, he said he could take one of us back down in his 2 seater vehicle and the rest of us would have to hike back. But then he decided to radio to base who advised they would have someone drive the 3 of us together. The operator waited with us until our driver arrived. The driver was a very nice police officer who gave us a lot of info about Blue Mountain, and even volunteered to be our photographer. Despite the snafu, we all said we would come back. 8/10

Whether it was the thrilling rides or the relaxing wave pool, there was always something to keep the whole family entertained. One standout feature of our trip was the food. In previous resort experiences, we've often found ourselves disappointed by the dining options, but Kalahari shattered those expectations! The variety and quality of meals were truly exceptional. From quick snacks and Starbucks coffee, to gourmet meals at one of their multiple restaurants, every bite was delicious. It was refreshing to find such a diverse menu that pleased my wife, the kids, and me. We also appreciated the thoughtful layout of the resort. It was easy to find comfortable places to relax, and while it did take some hunting , we did manage to find a table each day. After driving nearly 5 hours with three small children, we arrived at Camelback excited for a fun getaway. Check-in was at 4 PM. We got there around 6 PM and were told our room was ready, only to walk into a dirty, completely unprepared room. At that point, I had to drag my kids and luggage back downstairs and start the waiting game all over again. We didn't get into a usable room until around 8 PM. That's four hours past check-in and two hours after arrival. Our entire first day was essentially wasted. And unfortunately, it only went downhill from there. The room we were finally given had no towels, missing bedding, floors that clearly hadn't been vacuumed, and dust throughout. The next day there was no housekeeping at all. We left multiple times and came back to the same trash, the same mess, and nothing touched. To make matters worse, bugs were coming out of the HVAC system, which is honestly unacceptable at any hotel, let alone a resort charging these prices. The waterpark is the only reason this isn't a zero-star review. My kids found some enjoyment, but even that area felt dirty and poorly maintained. Staff were hit or miss, with several being inattentive and some just plain rude. Yes, it was spring break, so I expected crowds. What I didn't expect was a complete lack of preparation, cleanliness, and basic hospitality. That's the difference between an average resort and one that actually cares about guest experience. For comparison, we've stayed at Kalahari Resorts, which is larger and somehow still manages to be clean, organized, and ready for guests. Camelback didn't come close. Yes, the hotel is slightly older, but contrary to the other reviews, it wasn't as horrible as others have said--maybe it was because we had lowered expectations going in, but in fact we were pleasantly surprised. THIS IS NOT A 5-STAR HOTEL PEOPLE, SO GET OVER IT. It is a decent hotel, one of the least expensive in town, and definitely worth what we paid. PROS: The breakfast: more than just "grab and go." It was scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal/milk, bagels, toast, yogurt, juices, tea, coffee and more. It was buffet style and the staff were on top of refilling food and cleaning tables promptly. The pool: clean, clear, WARM! Very chlorinated-expect red eyes. The rooms: clean, comfortable, pretty much like any other middle of the road hotel. WiFi is free and worked better than cell service in this mountainous area. Tv was new, fridge and hairdryer were standard. Pretty quiet as well. The staff: awesome. The price: terrific. THE CONS: It was a little nerve wracking going up and down the hill to the hotel in the snow (December). They plow, but I'm not sure they salted the road, it seemed icy. We made it fine even though we were in a Ford Fusion and a small light Honda Fit. Yes, the key cards reset and locked us out even though we were booked for 2 days. Guy behind us in line in the lobby was having the same problem. I would suggest to the management, that since they clearly know this is a problem, just tell people when they check in that they could have a problem with this and apologize ahead of time and say that you are working in the problem. The rooms: as stated, clean, but a weird white grainy powder on the top of the bedspread. It was sort of like when you use too much powdered laundry soap and it doesn't rinse out all the way--or maybe the maids sprinkled carpet powder before they left and it overshot onto the bed--I have no idea. It was not IN the bed sheets, so we just shook it off the top and got over it. Then when we unfolded the sofa bed and just re-folded it back up, we noticed that a french fry fell out and there were also a few crumbs on top of the outer blanket in the sofa bed. Again, inside the sheets were clean. Minor, but annoying. Plumbing: toilets were a little slow. One shower (we had adjoining rooms) would not shut off completely and ran a medium stream all night. We felt horrible about all the wasted water, but it was really late and kids were asleep, so we didn't call the desk. :( Structure: I would suspect they have been trying to update and remodel. Room seemed newly painted, but certainly not a perfect paint job (paint on lamps, blotches here and there of dark paint we at first thought was blood, an unpainted water spot above the shower, etc). One old tiny elevator working (and one broken)-- IT REALLY WAS NOT A BIG ISSUE OR PROBLEM. Room heaters were a bit inefficient and inconsistent, but not terrible. Some of the the double-pane windows have become unsealed, so foggy and difficult to see outside. OVERALL: pretty decent for the low cost. No, it is maybe not like a sandals resort, but come on people, look at the room price. Never once saw a bug. Staff was great and extremely accommodating. They seem to be really trying to get the place looking better. It wasn't the Ritz, but it wasn't a roach motel either. WOULD DEFINITELY STAY THERE AGAIN.

We pulled up on Thursday. It was very sketchy. The door was locked. They had a ring camera plugged…read morein through the extension cord through the window. All the cameras were unplugged. The computer was unplugged. We made reservations and no one answer the door.
