The only thing wrong with mountain burrito is that there is too many things to choose from to put on your burrito. And - they are all good. Make sure you get some Jalapeño slaw on there somewhere and you'll be in heaven. Oh and one person was right behind us and said he was really hungry. So they rolled up 2 tortillas to make a "snuffleupagus" burrito. That's prob off the menu. Anyway s, go there if you are traveling between Asheville and Charlotte. You won't regret it. read more

Passing through Morganton from Johnson City, TN to Charlotte, NC and found this gem on Yelp! It was so good! I had the Naked Burrito (no tortilla) with chicken. Hubby had naked burrito with steak and chicken. Son had steak burrito. ALL were delicious. Ingredients are fresh and sauces/salsa are made in house. We travel through here 6-7 times per year. Dude, what is it about the mountains having good burrito places? We can't seem to get a decent burrito place in big ol' Charlotte? [vent] Anyway this little place is hard to spot from the road because of their pretty but subtle sign. The place has a couple picnic benches out front which were great to eat with our dogs al fresco. They have a small but inventive menu that has some cool sauces and salsas. The chicken was well cooked and well seasoned. Tacos were generous size and beans were well prepared. I was looking forward to trying the jalapeno slaw but it has cilantro in it (argh!!) but my meal was great nonetheless, perhaps in good part because of the homemade chips. Other people mentioned them but I was surprised to see that they were made from flour tortillas, not corn! So they were such a different treat and were gone rapidly. Would definitely return when in the area! read more

Had to travel to Morganton to pick up some Guinea Pigs for my son. I did a search to find somewhere to eat due to our schedule. Saw a few reviews for this place, and really love Chipotles...so, gave it a shot. Worth every minute of the drive. Without a doubt, just as good as, if not BETTER than Chipotle's...and blows Moe's out of the water. We plan to go back here again when we drive to Charlotte in March....off the path, but so worth it. read more

After a night of camping and a stop at Fonta Flora, Mountain Burrito was exactly what I needed. Lots of delicious foods all wrapped up in a delicious burrito. The guys working were super friendly (and stoked) that we stopped by and ordered food. I had a chicken burrito with roasted potatoes, lettuce, rice, salsa - I'm not too adventurous in the burrito topping department. Mike - who was the workers new favorite person - got half chorizo (that day's special) and pork. We were at Fonta Flora tasting beers and needed dinner before we headed back to Charlotte, but it was late on a Sunday so I pulled up my trusty Yelp app to see what was closeby. A bunch of my friends on yelp had amazing things to say about Mountain Burrito so we went for it. Regular burritos in Charlotte now just don't cut it. There are a ton of options for toppings and if you like spicy this is totally your place - they have ghost pepper chili sauces. They have pre-designed burritos as well so if you want to venture from your generic chicken, salsa, sour cream, pico, gauc burrito but have no clue what combinations work best they have you covered. read more

Was in the area after a day on the lake and was looking for something different to eat for dinner. I always love a good unique burrito place aside from your typical chain Mexican restaurants. These burritos are sooo good! I love how fast the service was, and how many topping options there were to choose from. Also, I like that there was both indoor and outdoor seating. One of the places I miss from back home. If you've ever been to a Moe's Southwest Grill, you'll find this layout of burrito assembly familiar. The ingredients however are local, fresh, and awesome.
