Plain pastor tacos with little to no meat. Either use smaller tortillas or bigger portions. $11 for 3 flour or 4 wheat tortillas, rip off!

I do not recommend this place. Being SoCal born and raised I have fairly high standards for Mexican restaurants and taco shops. Walked in around 9pm and the place seemed to be popping lol...well the food def wasn't. I ordered pastor tacos and the tortillas was pretty decent size, however, the portion was that of the size of a street taco. In addition to the tacos having very little meat and the tortilla being undercooked, the tacos were plain. I only gave it one star bc the Micheladas were delicious! Lol Can't really expect much from a Mexican restaurant in the middle of nowhere, with not many other Mexican restaurants to compete with. In the end I def do not recommend.

I was looking for mexican restaurants near me, and found Los Compadres. I had never heard of it before, and didn't even know that Valdese had a Mexican restaurant. I tried to call in my order, but when I called, it rang once then told me the voicemail was full. So, once I got to the restaurant I just placed a Togo order. It came out really quickly, I didn't wait any more than 5-8 minutes. It was even dinner time, so I expected it to take longer. The first thing I noticed about the restaurant when I walked in was the fact that it was super clean and smelled amazing. The staff made me feel very welcome! I truly appreciate the effort they put into running a friendly and presentable establishment. I ordered the ACP and the guacamole dip. Both were really good, and the ACP came the way that I typically like it... chicken, rice, and absolutely smothered in quest dip. Yum! I would definitely eat here again, and bring my husband next time!

What you see is what you get. It'll satisfy a craving for Mexican, but don't expect to be blown away.

Good place with small and large options, my favorite is the "food truck" section of the menu. Soles and tacos are great.

The service was very slow, and the food wasnt good at all. Dry, chewy chicken, skimpy on cheese sauce, no flavor.

Wow, we made a great decision trying Mama Juana Latin Fusion. We had an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the host, we knew this was going to be something different. The host asked, and was genuinely excited when we told him it was our first time in. When the waiter arrived, he was excited to tell us about the menu, as well as the food itself. He enthusiastically explained that while they had Mexican dishes, authentic Latin food was their real specialty. He made great recommendations and took great care of us throughout the meal. We chose to try the empanadas (1 cheese, 1 chicken, and 1 steak) and some cheese dip with chorizo. Both were exceptional. Full of flavor. My wife and I agreed to split 2 entrees, and that was another good decision. I had the Cachapa with shredded chicken, and she had the Venezuelan Arepas. Neither of us had ever had these dishes, but both were amazing. We were stuffed, but no way we couldn't take a desert home for later. The flan and the Tres Leches were both AWESOME! If you are on the fence, just try this place. You will be glad you did! They take a tremendous of pride in the quality of the food. The restaurant was very clean and had a great ambiance.

When I initially visited (in their first couple of months after opening) I was super in love with this place. Unfortunately every experience after that has been super inconsistent. I've ordered their seafood sancocho three times and every single time I've gotten a different dish. The last time I ordered it - it was more so vegetables with 2 teaspoons of broth, some rice and old fried yucca. If you look at the photo - I believe you can tell the yucca looks like it'd been in the fridge for days and they just threw it in there for good measure. The waiter didn't smile and generally looked miserable to have to deal with me. I asked for hot sauce that never came. Just overall, really disappointed in my last experience here and unfortunately won't be retuning due to how inconsistent my last few visits have been. You might get something that tastes decent, you might not.

We like Mexican food - hisband's grandparents owned a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles years ago. This restaurant was a step above the usual fare bcs it offered empanadas and papusas - which are Latin American. We ate empanadas often while living in Panama as teenagers. We were so happy to find them on the menu. Tasty. Papusas were tasty as well - I tried the one filled with pork. Highly recommend - we will definitely return. Just go!

A taste of Columbia in Downtown Statesville, who knew?!? Well, I did kinda...I have passed this…read moreColumbian "bakery" for many years without a second thought and I sure could kick myself for not trying it sooner! The Columbian Bakery+Restaurant has operated in this same storefront for around 20 years but I have never stopped in. I am not particularly familiar with Columbian-style foods and I did not feel there was anything that I would like from their "bakery". Boy, I do not think I have ever been more wrong about anything in my life...memories of past boyfriends start to creep in slowly-haha! I am currently obsessed with Statesville's Columbian Bakery+Restaurant! Yes, I said it! Not slightly obsessed, completely obsessed! I have patronized this business twice this week already and I plan to go there again before the weekend is over! The food is amazingly and authentically appetizing! To date, I have experienced the yummy goodness that is their Beef Empanadas, Tostones, Maduros, and my current foodie crush, Pan de Bonos. Each and every food item is fresh made to order except of course, for the bakery items BUT the bakery items are fresh made daily. The Beef Empanadas are a little meat-filled hand pie and they are so delicious! The pie consists of a thin cornmeal-type crust wrapped around the meat filling then deep fried. The meat filling is finely chopped or minced beef with small bits of potato (another reviewer said, beans, idk which it is but they're delicious) mixed in. It sounds heavy but it is actually quite light because the consistency of the filling is so fine and the outer crust is so thin. These yummies are so good, you cannot eat just one! The Tostones are smashed and fried green plantains. These are a salty side which taste like potatoes and they pair very well with the empanadas. The Maduros are fried ripe plantain chunks. I have had these before at other Latin restaurants and I do love them! The maduros from Columbian Bakery+Restaurant did not disappoint! They are just as good as any I've had and maybe just a little better because they are so fresh when you get them! These are a sweet side with just a hint of tartness. They pair well with any of the spicy foods served at this restaurant but I always eat them as a dessert! My favorite, the Pan de Bonos, are a bakery item but I was lucky enough to stop by when pan after pan of these little delectable puff balls were coming out hot and fresh from the oven. Yesssss! Who doesn't love a light and fluffy cheese bread ball?!? Cheese and Bread! Sign me up every time! But not to worry these addictive little things reheat really well in the microwave. I know because I ordered a dozen on my last visit! I cannot wait to go back to this Columbian paradise right in the heart of Statesville and try out more of their food offerings! The Columbian Bakery+Restaurant is active on social media, both Facebook and Instagram, so check them out! Be forewarned, they post videos of their yummy goodness often! They, also, have an online menu app.colombianbakerync.com for your browsing pleasure. You're welcome! I think I see a trip to Downtown Statesville in your near future! @columbianbakerystatesville @downtownsvl #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocalbusiness #shopsmall #shoplocal #eat-local
