We were visiting the area and decided to grab dinner here based on the good reviews. This restaurant seems to be a local favorite. The portions are huge and the prices are pretty cheap so that makes it worth a visit! They only serve beer and micheladas, no wine or margaritas. After we munched on the complementary warm chips and bean dip, we ordered the steak flautitas appetizer and steak fajitas for one (to share). Both were good but not amazing. read more

Who would have thought there would be such a good Authentic Mexican restaurant in Marion. I was here for a baseball tournament and based on the reviews I decided to try Jalapeno Fresh Grill. Growing up in California and having traveled to Mexico numerous of times, I was a little weary about how authentic this place would be, but boy was it good. This family owned business is true Mexican food and the portions are huge. Need to come hungry, otherwise you will not be able to finish your plate. Good food, huge portions and reasonably priced. read more

Best Mexican food in McDowell County. I ordered steak and chicken fajita which were everything you'd want when you have the craving for fajitas. The meat was not chewy at all, which is common at other places I've been. read more

Food was great but the waitress gave me the evil eye when I told her I didn't want to sit by the kitchen entrance haha

This is real Mexican food. . . not Tex-Mex. The restaurant is owned and operated by a Mexican family who definitely know their way around in a kitchen. Meals are both huge and delicious! read more

Oh my goodness, what a Yelp find. Hungrey onm I -40, we did not want to wait until we go home - consult Yelp, of course. Great ratings - we passed 2 other Mexican spots that looked really good and I was wondering if I made a mistake when we pulled up to Jalapeno, not what I was expecting, but Yelp has never led me wrong. Place was busy and the food - WOW - Excellent food!! I had the Fajita Burrito, a new twist for sure and it was fantastic. Big enough for a meal for 2 - $11.00!!!!!!!! She had the Enchilada Verde - as good as any we have enjoyed in Mexico. Great staff, restaurant was clean. Worth the drive from Asheville - we will definitely be back very soon!! read more

We were looking for somewhere to eat after going hiking in the area and found this place with good reviews on Yelp. We came in the afternoon and there was almost no one else there. We were seated right away. They gave us complementary bean dip and queso which was awesome. They also have a complimentary salsa bar with many kinds of salsa. I got the molcajete with steak and my husband got chef Ernesto's fajitas. Both were delicious! I was partial to the molcajete. The steak was cooked perfectly and the vegetables and pineapple salsa that came with it were delicious. It was a ton of food though. We could have easily split one of them. The only down side is that they were very slow to bring our checks when we were done eating. I would highly recommend giving this place a try! read more

Extremely fresh, authentic food with a south Cali flair. After hundreds of meals, I've yet to leave unimpressed with the fresh taste, presentation and high quality ingredients. I highly recommend this place for a great Mexican meal! read more

Talk about authentic Mexican food. It might take a little while to get the food, but there was one chef and he knew what he was doing. The chips to start - homemade, awesome, and accompanied with a warm bean/cheesy dip. They have a salsa station with 5 different types of varying heat. The portions are massive and delicious. The burrito takes up the whole plate and covered in sauce. The Mexican Taco Trio (pork, chicken, steak) is HUGE and absolutely delicious. read more

My husband and I drive I 40 between Charlotte and Asheville quite often. For whatever reason a longing for Mexican food hits us about every time and we most often stop at El Paso, Exit 105 in Morganton. We missed our turnoff and the Yelp reviews for Jalapeno Fresh Grill helped me to the decision to stop here. What a good decision! It has been over a month, so I can't remember what we ordered, but I will say, great service, the food was beautifully plated and more than we had expected. Very nice warm atmosphere. We tried to visit again recently on a Thursday for lunch and the restaurant was unexpectedly closed. But this place should definitely be on your radar! read more

No complains about the size of the servings which are very generous, wide variety of salsas to eat there and to go. I'm not a picky eater, but when it comes to authentic Mexican cuisine I can be very demanding, although the decoration and some items on the menu were "Mexican like" I would not consider this place as authentic; is good for a experience with Mexican food but not traditional. The serving portions and very generous and they have a wide salsa selection, do not hurt to give the restaurant a try if you are in the area. read more

Great service. Food was very good. Plenty to choose from. I will return once I am back in town.

Food is always tasty. Thank goodness for the chips and salsas bar because we've waited up to an hour for it. The restaurant is family owned and run, and closed more than open. Pretty much hit-and-miss, have to drive by to see. read more

(MAKE SURE YOU COME ON AN EMPTY STOMACH) First off the place looks so cultural and homey since I'm the race. It brings a home vibe as you walk in and sit to eat some chips. It was a little while wait but that's because they only have like 3 employees sitting people down and sending things out. I'm thinking it's a family business, but very well done. The food was deliciousssss ! I ordered the Camarones al Chipotle and thought it was going to be a little serving but it's a full plate. I'd definitely recommend this place if your feeling Mexican food. read more

Stopped here on our way back home from pigeon forge. Food was delicious! Restaurant is clean and the people who work here are awesome!

We were looking for a spot to eat after visiting Linville Caverns and Falls and found this spot well-reviewed on Yelp. When we pulled into the lot, we almost turned around because it didn't have a lot of curb appeal....so HAPPY we didn't!! The food was amazing and our server was great!! I had the molcajete, husband had the chimichanga and our little one had the kids bean and cheese burrito. The molcajete was HUGE and so tasty. It came with rice, a warm tomatillo sauce, corn cake, olla beans and gauc/sour cream and mango salsa. I think I have leftovers for the next three days... Husbands chimi was very unique - the shell's edges were all pulled up together and tied at the top. The presentation was unique and the taste was great! It came with black beans and a corn cake. The kids burrito was very large and good. It had whole beans and rice on the side, the creama sauce was very good and burrito itself was excellent. We didn't get our server's name, but he was super nice and funny....We will definitely be coming back when we're in the area again. read more

Man I can't say enough about this spot! This is by far the best Mexican food I've ever eaten! We were camping at Mountain Stream campground and wanted to eat some Mexican food so decided to try jalapeños. The salsa bar is the BOMB (try the Diablo salsa). I ordered the supreme California Burrito and my wife got the chimichangas. We were expecting your typical dish and man were we surprised. This place should be classified as a gourmet Mexican restaurant. Not only was the food delicious, the presentation was top notch. The corn cakes are great, chicken and steak had a nice chargrilled flavor. Other family members got the fajitas and they looked awesome! If your in the area or anywhere within a 60 mile radius, you need give them a try! read more

I hear a lot about wanting "authentic" Mexican food. This is Western NC, we are not getting anything near authentic, so if that is what you are looking for, please go to Mexico.
