There were several A-frame units, not crowded but part of the landscaped forest area. Units varied in size - ours had 3 beds upstairs. 2 baths. Heating was a bit tricky, and available in all rooms. The maintenance guy came over "to help us get it sorted"... another words - turn it on. Ha! Big puffy down blankets kept us warm, it's cold at night here (June). Big hotel with rooms to rent on the property. They had play areas, kids video and play areas too. Pool had really weird hours. Apparently it was disinfected every few hours or some such nonsense AND you had to make an appointment for available times (in mid-day). I think that would have been fun but didn't use it. An area outside with growling moving Dino's... large enough to be fun for kids... a surprise for us! We loved the extensive trail system and the ruins of a local castle on a tiny island in the lake. Trails are well marked. People were nice, staff was helpful. Area was pretty and quiet. Centrally located. Great transit system; we made appointments to see local attractions via trains / bus - gotta get the timing right and pay ahead. Note: there are stiff fines for cars traveling inside Edinburgh and London- check on this before you drive!

We stayed in one of the A-frame cabins on the property. It was about a ten minute walk to the main hotel building, which we were okay with as there were families with children running all around the main hotel building. The cabins were perfect for four of us who wanted to sleep, read and catch up with each other. Cabins are well laid out and nicely furnished. The Hilton Coylumbridge is outside of Aviemore by a little less than a mile. That meant any meals with alcohol in Aviemore meant one of us had to be a designated driver. We did take advantage of the on-site restaurant our last night, so all four of us were able to eat, drink and be merry. We will be back.

With a little effort to bring in some modern edges, this hotel could be very charming to allow comforts of modernity while honoring a more historic feel, unfortauntely that wasn't what we experienced. There was a huge dip in the center of the bed, which was squeaky. The bathroom was an odd layout, and had a metallic or slight sewage smell about it. Breakfast was pretty awful and bland: eggs were watery, coffee was sludge. Happy we only had a brief night there.

All of the staff (most of them from the rest of Europe which I slightly odd in the Highlands!) were very friendly and they all made a fuss of Luna. The food we had was very nice. The starter portions were a little small, but when you saw the size of the mains it all made sense as a bigger starter would mean not being able to finish your three courses! They have a real ale available which is usually Trade Winds from the local Cairngorm Brewery. However it is expensive at £4.70 a pint, but well-kept and flavoursome. If you are lucky like we were you might also get a view from your room to the adjacent Strathspey Steam Railway - excellent for train enthusiasts!

This lovely looking gem is located at one end of the high street, and made me wish I had booked my accommodation here instead of a B&B at the opposite end of town. As I walked in, several gents who were behind me, asked if I was from the AA (I trust they meant Automobile Association and NOT Alcoholics Anonymous!!). I must have had a "no-nonsense" vibe going on ..... Passed a lovely 1/2 hour in the bar -all by ourselves- with heavenly sunshine streaming in. We "discovered" Bellhaven's Best to our delight. The time was most pleasant, marred only slightly by the weird radio station playing whiny country & western music in the background.... Not that I was expecting bagpipes, fiddle music, jigs & reels mind you.., its just that I didn't expect to find Elvis, Roy Orbison & Tammy Wynette alive & well in the CairnGorums! The dining room decor is very classy & wonderfully appointed: tartan wall paper, stag horn wall sconces, dark wood tables & large comfy chairs, etc. It was obvious that this place was popular with locals as well. The meal was very good: piping hot carrot coriander soup, followed by the lamb with chili & mint sauce with mashed potatoes for him & the chicken breast stuffed with haggis on a bed of mashed potatoes for her, accompanied by a large side dish of veggies (boiled potato, cauliflower, green beans & carrots). We decided to follow it with a yummy selection of Scottish cheeses & biscuits (& a handful of rather sad grapes -perhaps a couple of nice crisp apples would have been a better alternative?) All this was washed down with a big red juicy Barolo. We strolled back down the high street: warm, full & happy! All in all -a very good experience.:)!
