Beautiful view of the river & castle from the check-in area

I did not stay at this hotel, so this review is not about the hotel rooms. However I had occasion to visit the public areas such as the reception area and the public restrooms and so that's all this review is for. The reason for my visiting this hotel was because it's the pick up and drop off point for Happy Tours. I waited in the reception area, before the tour started, and the staff were super friendly and happy for me to sit by the couch near the window. By the way, from the beautiful stained glass window seat in their reception area, you get a great picture perfect framed view of Inverness Castle and the River Ness. I also used their loos, which are situated all the way in the back towards the right, and while there weren't any obvious signs to their location in the reception area, the corridor heading to the loos has all these really cool Edwardian photo prints, including George VI and his family. It was interesting for me to be able check out all these yesteryear photos, including a fair amount of what looked to be local photos too (not just of king & country!). The ladies loos were very clean, and had plenty of stalls. They were about old fashioned in their decor but all the mod cons were there. Overall it was a good, but brief stay. Yelp 83/ 2019

What a total surprise! I came back to Inverness ready to hit the Rocpool or the fine Seafood restaurant I went to last time, but the former is shut on a Sunday, and the latter has gone altogether! So, what to do. I am staying at the Columba hotel near the bridge on Ness Walk, so I did a quick internet search and found nothing that enticed, so I decided to explore the fare here in the hotel and I discovered that not only do they have a very nice bar/bistro area overlooking the Castle, but that the food was GREAT! I had the King scallops with Chorizo salad and a balsamic reduction for starters, and Butternut squash with asparagus, roasted cherry tomatoes and shaved parmesan for main course. Both were delicious! I also had a nice glass of Merlot to accompany my meal. There is NO evidence through an internet search other than a name, and even then it is alternately spelled Macnab and McNab, so I couldn't have been more surprised! The space is modern with thick wooden tables and comfortable chairs and sofas to wait on if busy, and although they have TV's showing music videos, the sound does not impose. I wonder what it would be like if excessively busy as I was there on a Sunday night, but the staff were very attentive and chatty, and the plethora of whiskeys could accomodate the most discerning Malt fan. The bar also had a number of lagers and severaal beers and ales. All round appeal! Definitely worth a visit!

Old-fashioned hotel in a nice city. Located next to the river, this is a great start to visit the Loch Ness. Be careful, due to some works on the road, the access might be difficult. However, there is a parking next to the hotel. if you arrive at 18:00, the pparking will be free until 08/09:00. Wifi, nice breakfast but the price was to expensive in my opinion. Be careful again, do not accept to pay in EUR as the rate will be probably more expensive.

Super convenient and very clean. Bathroom looks like it was recently redone. Comfortable room for two and a simple but complete breakfast. Right on the river across the bridge from the main street. I probably would not go back to Inverness as we have seen/done most everything there is to do there, but this hotel is well worth staying at.

    How small the tv was.

It's within easy walking distance of the Ness Islands in one direction, and the main part of town - shops and restaurants - in the other direction. I liked that it was a bit removed from "the bustle" of the city (if Inverness can ever be said to "bustle"), but close enough to get to without a car. Our room was in the "townhome" part of the hotel (not the main building, but the one across the parking lot), which was perfect. Our room was gigantic and super comfortable. My favorite thing was that the windows actually opened, which gave us a chance to enjoy the slight breeze and gave us a front-row seat to the church bells ringing down the way. The bed was huge and very comfortable. It was actually a little *too* comfortable; we ended up sleeping over 10 hours on our first night there! I woke up about five minutes before the front desk called to ask if we'd be needing housekeeping for the day. Oopsie! We didn't take advantage of room service or hit any of the property's restaurants/bars while we were there (we typically like to experience all a city has to offer when we travel, so while their menu looked inviting, we chose to try some of the places recommended by our taxi driver on the way into town, instead.) They did get bonus points for welcoming us to the hotel with two glasses of champagne - their way of congratulating us on our wedding anniversary. The shower looked modern, but it was kind of awkward to use, and it leaked all over the floor. They have a hair dryer (look in the desk if you can't find it elsewhere), as well as a mini putting green (stored in the closet; it's how you know you're in Scotland, I guess!) There's a TV we never used, and two comfy club chairs situated next to the windows. Check-in and check-out were fast, easy and friendly. They also went out of their way to protect us on that first day. Our taxi driver (super sweet girl named Michelle) was giving us all sorts of tips and advice on our way in, and after I mentioned my half-baked plan to rent bikes to ride out to Culloden, she dropped us off and headed towards a bike shop in town to get information on rentals. She came back to the hotel to tell us everything in person, and the front desk agent refused to tell her our room information, even though she (Michelle) kept insisting we were expecting her. This was the place that made us feel most comfortable, where we could relax after a long day of playing tourist, and where we'd definitely book again, if we're lucky enough to return to Inverness. If you're looking for a place to stay, give them a try!

Pulling in you are greeted by a castle-esque hotel. It is stunning. Plenty of parking out front and back. The inside is elegant and spacious. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautiful. Huge bathrooms, plenty of room for storage, a work desk, kettle with tea and coffee, seating and tables, and of course the most comfortable bed. We ordered room service one night and they were very fast and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We enjoyed the leisure room which is equipped with a heated pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and gym. Bathrooms are inside the pool area with lockers available for 1 euro. My only complaint about the entire stay was I wish the hot tub was hotter! It was more like a warm tub with jets, but it still felt amazing. We felt like Scottish royalty staying here, and if/when we return to Inverness, we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you so much for a memorable stay!
