I love the fact this hotel is right in the middle of whiskey country. The views are great, you can see the River Spey from many of the rooms. I am just not one of those people who love quaint but i am not one of them.. This place is old, the bathrooms are small, there is no water pressure there is no counter space, the towels feel 20 years old, there is no elevator and the stairs or narrow and steep. The stay just don't seem to care about anything. You can hear everything that happens in the hallway and the room next door. If i had paid a lot less, my expectations would have been a lot lower, but at 300 GBP a night, i expected more.
On the positive side, the whisky bar is fantastic and the bartender very knowledgeable with a keen sense of finding just the right unusual whisky for you to try. The restaurant is good but both times I've dined there they have been out of several items - including the burger.
Overall, stay somewhere else and drive to Abelour to enjoy it read more
