I had the "bacon and egg filled roll". It was HUGE (and quite inexpensive). It's essentially bacon and a fried egg in a sandwich bun, but it was the size of my hand. Neither my boyfriend nor I could finish one! They do have a vegetarian version of the roll, as well as a "Vegetarian Breakfast" for any vegetarians out there. A nice, quick breakfast in a quaint town!

The rooms are very clean and so are the en-suit bath or shower rooms. Windows are double glazed. Breakfast is included in the overnight price and you are able to choose from a comprehensive list of choices: Vegetarian. English, Continental, kippers....muesli and juices are self service. Evening dinner is served in their welcoming restaurant. The menu holds steak (rib eye, sirloin, fillet), chilli con carne , burgers , fish and chips and much more. The staff is very nice. Evelyn made my breakfast experience a delight and did not rush me to finish off after the breakfast deadline expired. This hotel is good for families, groups and singles alike. I can imagine that during summer time it can be very busy. Aberlour and other distilleries are closeby, some are even walking distance. I will definitely be back!

I am just not one of those people who love quaint but i am not one of them.. This place is old, the bathrooms are small, there is no water pressure there is no counter space, the towels feel 20 years old, there is no elevator and the stairs or narrow and steep. The stay just don't seem to care about anything. You can hear everything that happens in the hallway and the room next door. If i had paid a lot less, my expectations would have been a lot lower, but at 300 GBP a night, i expected more. On the positive side, the whisky bar is fantastic and the bartender very knowledgeable with a keen sense of finding just the right unusual whisky for you to try. The restaurant is good but both times I've dined there they have been out of several items - including the burger. Overall, stay somewhere else and drive to Abelour to enjoy it

It is modern at the one hand, thoroughly traditional Scottish at the other hand. We had two lovely junior suites with breakfast included. At the same time we spent a great evening between the Pagoda restaurant and the Spirit Room with its amazing amount of whiskies. A great place to stay, dine and drink.

Alas Yelp was of little use (I've found that outside the US Yelp is a poor representation of dining options). I tried the Sunninghill for diner at the suggestion of a local shopkeeper. The Maître d' told us they were booked until 9pm (a good omen) but she would try to fit us in. While waiting we sampled their extensive selection of fine scotch. The bar staff was friendly and helpful. Once seated, the restaurant service was warm, and food was served promptly. All was good to excellent: well prepared and presented, although the meats tended to be over cooked. Desert was well worth the gluttony.

I wouldn't recommend staying the night but I would recommend a reservation for dinner here just to have the experience. The negative: I felt like the price wasn't worth the stay. The pool was not open. The salon and spa were not operating during our stay either. These were some things I was looking forward to. I made the mistake of assuming and not asking because they are featured amenities when booking the hotel. There were also a few little things amiss. For example: trash behind the bed, the handle bar for the shower bar was missing a gasket and kept falling, the trash can in the bathroom was broken, the room was really hot (they did have a fan). Just a lot of small things that add up. The positive: The breakfast, dessert, and drinks we had here were delicious! The bar is pretty well stocked. I have a dairy allergy and my waiter and the cook took care to make sure there were no cross contamination's. The area around the mansion is gorgeous. This is a great place to take some fun pictures! Overall we did enjoy our stay. The staff was lovely. They do all leave for the night which is something to note. The place just needs more love and care.

There's also a supermarket nearby, and this is always a convenience I look for when I stay in a hotel. The hotel started life as a mansion and with a number of additions, is now a building which is large enough to be a fully featured hotel. There was a wedding party at the hotel during our stay and the grounds undoubtedly made for beautiful pictures.

For an evening meal we were directed to an hotel just a short walk through Aviemore, and the recommendation was spot on. The short walk back was definately required to "see off" the fantastic meal we enjoyed! Our room was quiet, clean and very well equipped. As for the breakfast, typically Scottish, with "Pete's Porridge" a must. Both proprieters very much "hands on" and clearly experienced, and happy in the business. When next in the area we will definately book The Cairngorm GH again.

The resturant downstairs had a large selection of meals available. I recommend the steak. The portions are excellent and are served by pleasant and attentive staff. After dinner, we headed through to the adjoining bar for a few drinks (I'll admit I had one too many). I was pleased to see a good selection of local whiskeys, very pleased (haha), which were served in 35ml nips. There was also a large selection of other drinks, for those who don't drink whiskey, like lager, cider and ales. The bar staff were friendly and talkative, as were the locals. I can't say enough about the breakfast either. It was one of the best traditional Scottish breakfasts I've eaten. I would stay here again
