This area has so many beautiful sites and trails! We discovered lots of beauty everywhere we went. There are also easy hikes available for scenic pictures. In the spring and summer, you can find many poppy groves that are breathtaking. There are lots of wild animals as well. We saw a handful of rattlesnakes in the region so be careful with kids!

Here's one of the LOWER elevation campsites near Sundance. Cute, but you don't want to camp here if the rains are heavy.

O.M.G. This place is gorgeous: a blend of Aspen and deciduous woods, it's a place that will be gorgeous any time of year. The pine forest is in fairly good shape, with what appeared to be little pine beetle damage or over-logging. Since this is a wilderness area, you can bivy out and camp in the wilderness areas (there's one up near the summit pass) or you can pay your campsite fee and camp at the primitive sites that come with concrete pits for campfires and concrete pads. IMPORTANT NOTE: The sites listed online are not clearly indicated that they are DOUBLE sites. That means, UNLESS you reserve BOTH sites, you could be camping neck-to-neck with someone you don't know. So book both sites and pay the extra dough. The best by far is the site that's near the trailhead for the Mount Timpanogos trail and parking lot. There's two sites there 4 and 5. 4 is butted up against a thick Aspen site. 5 is better and is SIMPLY one of the most amazing sites I've ever seen. Covered with old enormous pines, it bellies up to the rapids below which during early summer are very swollen and wild. The sound permeates everything, everywhere you go. The bad thing is that it's so loud, a bear will not hear you, so hike/bike with bear bells. The good thing is that when you're trying to sleep, it's heaven. Another note: it gets cold as hell here, especially the higher you go. So even in summer, pack your -0 sleeping bag and polypropylene, though in the day, it can get hot. I would NOT recommend the lower mountain sites, as they became severely flooded while we were at the higher elevation, and campers had to be evacuated. With all the heavy snow pack, lots of rain, those sites flood, as does the road, which, after two nights of camping, we frightfully discovered. So keep an eye on where the park rangers and camp hosts are to get updates on if the roads are still open in case of rain. This is back country at its best. To hike to the Timpanagos Trail, you will cross soggy snowfields and have creek crossings. It's rather rugged, but you CAN hike for a little ways, then always turn back if you're creeped out. Another thing to note: the mosquitoes here (because of all the run-off) are bad. Another notable: it is a LONG, winding drive with no guardrails, so be careful of other drivers and make sure you get enough beer/ice to last you as the drive to Provo is a long one and there's no concessionaires on the mountain to sell either beer or gas. But the views, despite the bear warnings, floods and mosquitoes are worth the long drive. You've got to watch out for bears though we didn't see any.

Just absolutely beautiful. Utah has some of the best outdoor scenery. All of the uinta moutains and Mt timpanigos is a must see if your visiting for Utah. Hike up to the caves, head to timblefork lake, or just around the alpine loop. It's all worth your time.

The camp hosts I've encountered over the years have always been friendly. The campsite that I love is seriously the best one! It's so spacious, feels secluded, and is just perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. It's honestly my favorite campsite I've ever stayed at. Unfortunately, other people seem to know how great it is too, which makes it really hard to reserve. So I'll be gatekeeping the site number... sorry! We had site 64, which was at the very end of the campground in a small loop with bathrooms in the middle. There were 3 sites in the area, and our site was extremely private due to the trees and because you have to go down a set of stairs to reach the table and fire pit. We parked our trailer at the top, which ended up being great, but I'm not sure if the site has a tent pad or not. Our site was tucked among the trees and had hiking trails leading in multiple directions behind it. It was clean, but the bathroom was full of those gross sewer flies (which maybe can't be helped?). The sound of the flowing river was extremely soothing and even drowned out the sounds from our [super drunk] neighbors. I'd highly recommend checking out the pictures of each site on the recreation.gov website. There are many beautiful and private sites, but many that weren't as private or level (if that matters to you). I'd also recommend booking as soon as the reservation window opens, which I think is in January, for the best sites and dates. The campground is almost always completely full as you get closer to the summer months. This is my new favorite spot for sure, can't wait to return next year!

If you're close enough to the river, the sound of the water drowns out the cars driving by on the road. I came to this park last week when I wanted to get away from the apartment for a while. I drove up the canyon for a few minutes and drove off the freeway to see that the parking lot for Bridal Veil Falls Park was packed, so I took a left and made my way over to Nunn's Park. I didn't wander over to the campground area, but the park is pretty nice. The trees are finally green and the sun was out, so I was able to kick back and enjoy how beautiful this place is during spring. Oh, but I must say, they have ants that I haven't seen since rural San Diego. Those nasty HUGE black ants...yikes. I've only seen those tiny house ants around here, so it was a bit of a shock. If you stray from the view of the water and just look at the bridge and the road above you, it's not all that pretty, but I guess that's the benefit of having two parks so close together. If you get tired of one, just walk across the street to the other one. Provo Canyon would have to be the most beautiful thing I've seen in Utah.

Current Creek campground is a large place with 4 loops. My favorite is D loop because it's closest to the lake. Bathrooms have flush toilets but no showers. Each camp site has a picnic table, grill, fire pit and concrete pad. The camp host station sells ice, firewood and some bare essentials. The star of the show is the lake. Usually you'll find me sitting on the shore waiting for a fish to bite. I've caught rainbows and tiger trout. But even if you don't catch anything the views are spectacular. If you should get lucky and decide to keep your catch there is a fish cleaning station by the boat ramp. Directions, there are 3 ways to get there all involve a bit of graded dirt road. You can take hwy 40 to the Current Creek Road and drive up next to the river, then around the lake. Next option is to turn off hwy 40 at the chicken creek area and take FS road #82. The turn is just before the UDOT facility. Lastly you can take center street from Heber past the Timber Lakes community. There is no cell phone service at the lake or campground. :)

Mobile home parks tend to lean toward the longer-term residential type environment. Mountain Shadows tries to marry the two, and it's awkward. When we first checked in Friday evening, the young lady at the front desk was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. We were so excited to have found a RP park in town-a little "staycation" if you will. We got set up and quickly noticed that many of our neighbors appeared to be in for the long haul. And not too long after our arrival, the police paid a visit to one of the neighbors. That was a little unnerving. Later that evening, my son and I wanted to borrow some DVDs from the office so we walked down. The friendly face from a few hours earlier was gone and replaced with an extremely unpleasant, angry woman. She did not look up from her phone when we walked in the door and tossed it aside angrily when we came to the counter to check out our movies. She made sure to let us know a number of times that she was having a bad day and that things could not get any worse. She kept losing track of where she put things-dropping stacks of paper on the floor, tossing her pen in a frustrated manner and eventually throwing her hands up in the air and exclaiming "I give up!" We were very uncomfortable and felt like we were a burden to her. The next day, my son and I returned the DVDs and stayed to play pool-the first young lady was back, so we didn't feel to fearful of hanging around. Only one pool cue could be found, so we passed it back and forth. While we were there, we observed many interactions with guests and staff (the nice young lady and another young guy were manning the office that day). They were both very pleasant. Based on the conversations I heard, my theory about longer term residents was confirmed. Most everyone was there to pay their "rent" and talked to each other as regulars, not vacationers. On the plus side, it was very quiet both nights we were there. I'd imagine, since this is most of these people's homes, they don't prefer to stay up late socializing or throwing parties. However, the overall feeling of the place is dismal. I felt like I was intruding on people's lives by coming in for a short weekend stay. If you're looking for a spot to stay while traveling through, this may be a place to consider, but be aware of what the park really is. If you're cool with that, then you'll be just fine.

Do not be fooled by the beautiful pictures they post online--those are from years ago when the park first opened. Today, this place is a neglected, hazardous dump run by a toxic, completely unprofessional management team. We moved in on December 27th, renting a lot and an 18-foot camper for $750/month. We were assured it was "move-in ready." That was a blatant lie. On our first day, I opened the fridge/freezer combo, and hundreds of German cockroaches fell out of it like Niagara Falls. It required three separate bug bombs just to make the place semi-livable. On top of that, Mario, the manager, left a whole turkey in the freezer that thawed out and leaked putrid turkey juices all over the appliance. There was also absolutely no hot water because the water heater had a massive crack in it. It leaked so severely that it saturated the floor, causing the kitchen floor to visibly sag. When they finally came to "fix" the water heater, they smashed a massive hole in the side of the camper and just left it wide open. Because of their negligence, my cat escaped, and my girlfriend and I spent three agonizing days waiting for him to return. Thankfully, he did. The windows were also broken and just covered with cardboard and tape, and the sink was completely backed up because the previous tenant had dumped a hoard of pennies down the drain. When I confronted the manager, Mario, about these biohazards and structural failures, he didn't offer to fix them immediately. Instead, he coldly offered a refund. He knew exactly what he was doing--he put us in a position where we either had to live in a roach-infested, broken camper or be homeless. We had to stay and watch them take their sweet time doing bare-minimum repairs. When anyone has a legitimate issue with the park, Mario gets incredibly rude, nasty, and aggressive. If you express how unhappy you are with the conditions, management's official response is literally: "Don't like it? Move." Management is rarely even on-site--maybe once or twice a month--but they sure know how to cause drama. They constantly spread lies around the park claiming we weren't paying our bills, which is defamation. We have every single receipt proving we have paid on time, every single month. Furthermore, the utility situation is a massive rip-off. There is only one meter for the entire park. Management leaves the lights on and the AC blasting at 68 degrees constantly in common areas, and because of the single meter, the tenants are forced to split the bill for their energy waste. You are also paying out of pocket for "amenities" like a laundry room that should be covered. The park looks like absolute shit. The boat dock is in such disrepair it will literally ruin your boat if you try to use it. Worse than the infrastructure is the total lack of safety. They will let anyone move in here, including active drug users and people with violent, dangerous criminal records. To give you an idea of how dangerous this place is, I accidentally butt-dialed the police once. When the cop arrived, he literally told me that they get so many emergency calls for this park--ranging from domestic abuse to drug issues--that they are forced to come out and physically verify everyone is okay, even for a confirmed accidental dial. The police are fully aware of how awful this place is. There is also zero confidentiality. Management acts friendly to get your money, but once you are locked in, they treat you like garbage and spread your personal business. They literally told brand-new tenants intimate, private medical details about a resident living here with cancer. It is deeply disrespectful, unethical, and disgusting behavior. They trap you, lie about you, neglect the property, and treat you like absolute shit. For the love of God, stay the hell away from Lakeside Haven RV Resort and Mario.
