I usually purchase pet products from national retailers such as Chewy, Petsmart, Amazon, and Target, but I felt interested in investigating the Healthy Pet Products store in the North Hills. When I entered the store, an employee immediately greeted me and asked if I needed any assistance. I looked around the store for many minutes. I found lots of unique products that I had not seen at other retailers. I saw many brands and types of foods and treats (e.g., bagged, canned, frozen, freeze-dried, raw, and grain-free) in many flavors (e.g., chicken, beef, duck, lamb, rabbit, turkey, and venison). I also saw many types of toys, health supplements, hygiene products, grooming supplies, leashes and collars, etcetera. I decided to buy three treats for my dog--turkey, beef and lamb, and bacon ice cream. A second employee immediately noticed me at the cash register, greeted me, accurately scanned my products and processed my payment, and thanked me. So far, I have given two of the treats to my dog, and she happily wagged her tail as she ate all of the treats. Tip: Check out the Healthy Pet Products website for sales and coupons.

Products include foods, treats, medications, accessories, pet furniture, etc. Furthermore, PetSmart offers services such as a veterinarian, dog-training, and dog and cat grooming. For about 10 years, I have purchased products and services at this Petsmart. PetSmart sells many but not all of the name brands that my pets like, such as TidyCats, Purina, and Fancy Feast, and Temptations. Prices are average for a brick-and-mortar but higher than some online stores, but a rewards program offers some discounts. For dog training, this Petsmart offers the following group classes: puppy, beginner, intermediate, advanced, and tricks. In 2022, my English bulldog Olive completed the Beginner class, and in 2026, my French bulldog Daisy completed the same class. The trainer Sharon has decades of experience, and she uses positive-reinforcement techniques, which were perfect for my Olive who was shy, nervous, and physically ill and even perfect for my social and healthy Daisy. Sharon interacts very nicely with the dogs and their humans, and I consider her to be an expert in determining how to overcome obstacles in dogs' behaviors. In 2024 and 2026, I used this Petsmart's groomer for my cat Kira and dog Daisy. In 2024, I took Kira to shave off matted fur. The total price was only $15. The employee could have handled the cat a bit better (compared to my vet tech), but I felt thankful that she helped us. In 2026, I took Daisy here for multiple services, including shampooing, conditioning, ear cleaning, anal-gland expression, blow drying, nail trimming and grinding, teeth brushing, breath freshener, cologne, and bandana. Prices vary based on the exact service, but I usually spent $45-60 plus a tip. I, however, stopped using this groomer. The groomer called me to ask if I could move up my appointment "a little," which was two hours earlier and would require us to take off work. I ended up rescheduling my appointment to a different date, and the groomer called off work and canceled my appointment.

The rabbits and guinea pigs here are kept in terrible condition. I attached photos of the rabbits…read more They're kept in way too small of cages. The one rabbit didn't even really have any food. Rabbits are prone to digestion issues and need to be able to be constantly eating. There weren't any hideaways provided for them, or any toys for enrichment or to chew on and keep their teeth down. I didn't get pictures of the guinea pigs. Their cage was literally just stacked on top of the rabbits'. But they also didn't have any toys and no hideaways. Because of this, they were visibly super stressed out because they were kept front and center of the store and didn't have any place to hide and get away from the stressors. The top of their cage was also just open and I saw little kids reaching their hands in without any employees around to facilitate customers interacting with the animals like that. Honestly terrible for everyone involved because A.) The kids could get bit B.) It stresses out the animals C.) The animals are learning to be afraid of people are going to be difficult to socialize with anyone that takes them home and D.) Any germs on the kids' hands could easily be transmitted to the animals and make them sick. This store should just stick with fish honestly. I'm not as knowledgeable about the other kinds of animals they have as I am about guinea pigs and rabbits, but the owners definitely either don't care about the animals or are just really uneducated about the animals they're selling.

(Fellow Yelper, if you are a dog person, I apologize for my inability to discuss their exact dog products. I can tell you that the store sells mostly products for dogs, and they have a few self-serve dog-washing stations.) For cat food and treats, they sell brands such as Fromm, Greenies, Nulo, Orijen, Tiki, Weruva, and many others. For cat supplies, they sell beds, mats, bowls, scratching posts, toys, litter, etcetera. For my cats, I bought about a dozen items, including litter, catnip buds, catnip spray, treats, and toys. Some of the products were unique, and when I brought them home, my cats excitedly played. Prices for some products, such as the cat litter, were higher than at other stores, but the prices were a bargain after my coupon. Prices for other products were comparable to other stores' prices. I saw a large selection of foods, treats, water bowls, fountains, collars, harnesses, leashes, shampoos, flea-tick sprays, oral-hygiene products, cleaning products, diapers and pads, litter boxes and litters, over-the-counter medications, beds, crates, toys, etcetera. I thought that the prices were a little high. One of my cats has health problems, so I must be careful about what I feed to her. I ended up purchasing a catnip grinder, a fish toy, and a wet treat. My cats appeared to like these products.

My dog needed a bandage, and I also looked at treats for the dog and the cat. The shelves had a good selection of products, and their prices were similar to what other brick-and-mortar stores charge but slightly higher than what online stores charge. I found three things to buy, and the checkout was accurate. This store also offers grooming, dog training, and vaccines, but I did not use these services.

I also saw a sign about custom cakes that can be ordered. For my dog, I purchased three types of treats--a hamburger, a hotdog cookie, and a cheese pizza. Each treat cost a few dollars. The employee who packaged the treats and processed my payment spoke nicely to me. I took the treats home to my dog, and she excitedly ate them. The carob did leave a dark brown stain on my carpet, but my wet vacuum removed it. In the future, I will return to this bakery to buy more treats for my dog.
