My driveway was a mess before. It was in bad shape when we bought our house 15 years ago, and had…read moreonly deteriorated due to a total lack of maintenance. It was wavy and uneven and downright dangerous; I almost twisted my ankle out there a couple of times! We booked Pete in the winter to resurface our driveway in the summer. Unfortunately, there was such frequent rain over the summer that Pete's schedule got pushed back 4-5 months, and it was fall before we got our new driveway. It sure was worth the wait, though! Pete's crew cleaned and resurfaced my driveway, and it looks and feels amazing! The surface is flat, the lines are clean, and the edges are nicely rounded. The area where it comes up against our stone walkway is perfectly done, with no tripping hazards to be found. Walking and driving on the new driveway is a pleasure! We were even able to set up a basketball hoop out there now that it's a safe and usable surface. I wouldn't say the job was cheap, but I feel like the quality of work was worth the expense. Pete's has maintenance covered as well. They'll be back in the spring to reseal the asphalt, and because they're on top of scheduling it I don't have to think about it. The maintenance costs will be pretty reasonable.

I was told the job would be completed in a month, but two days later they had an opening and so came and did a nice and very neat job of sealing the cracks and sealing the blacktop. The whole job was completed rapidly, allowing more than enough for the driveway to completely dry by evening. A couple of cracks did not completely fill so they came back two days later and redid these cracks, and even added a bit more sealer on 20% of the driveway at no additional cost. I am pleased to strongly recommend Pete's Absolute Asphalt. (Note that even though this review lists me as in San Francisco for some odd reason (possibly a hidden VPN) please be assured that I and my driveway are in Ithaca NY!)

We hired Greenscene to renovate our backyard, picking up where a previous contractor left off…read more Greenscene Construction built the fence along the south side of our property, a new 8'x8' pergola with a skylight and metal roof, and a sauna pad with larch border and river stone within. Following that, we hired Greenscene Lawn and Garden to install a crushed aggregate driveway with bluestone walking path, backyard sod with mulch borders, garden beds, natural stonework around our pergola and various plantings. Their landscape architect Kali helped us pick out and buid the vision of the plantings. The construction team was great, and although the pergola did leak they were committed to fixing it and eventually completely replaced the substrate and reinstalled the metal roof to guarantee we would not have any leaks. They were very receptive to my punch list requests at the end of the job and fixed everything I asked for. The landscaping team was incredible. They were in and out in 4 days then spent a few extra days buttoning things up. They gave us detailed watering instructions and left sprinklers and hoses for the sod to establish itself, and stopped by to check on the status frequently. We have been thrilled with the service and are looking forward to seeing the plantings coming to life.

I've waited three years to post this review as Green Scene told me it would take a couple years for…read morethe flowers, shrubbery and bushes to fully bloom and blossom. Some have, some haven't. When they first furnished the quote to landscape our property, they provided full color pictures of what it would eventually look like. Those pictures, which I still have, look nothing like the end result. No vibrant reds or yellows. A lilac bush which refuses to blossom. We even watered the flowers and vegetation per their instructions. They did a good job laying paving stones around the pool area at the rear of the house and filling gaps with additional stone. But the front and sides of the house are just "blah." No beautiful, colorful flowers bursting forth like the promised photos. Green Scene charges top dollar for their services and we hired them based on neighboring residences and their landscapes. I expected a better result for the price I paid. Live and learn.

Four Winds Chimney came out to inspect the two fireplaces in the house. We had not had them…read moreinspected since we purchased the house a few years ago. The technician, Mike, was outstanding as he recommended that I sit down with him to watch the inspection of the fireplace and explained in detail the images as they crossed the screen. Mike also inspected the chimney on the roof and the vent for the oil-based furnace in the basement. Mike provided me a complete report with pictures, and he went over his recommendations. I am having them come out to perform some repairs that were needed.
