Travis (owner of Motorwerks) recently opened this operation in Humble, and our family is so happy that he did. Travis and his team are extremely knowledgeable and professional, and they took the time to put our vehicle on the lift and show us in detail all of the items needing attention on our classic Porsche 944. I have also had routine maintenance services performed on our family's BMW X5 and on our Porsche 911, and we have been very pleased with the excellent communication and detailed upfront pricing at Motorwerks. I used to work right around the corner from their old location on the US-59 feeder; You can always expect them to perform top quality work and get it done in a reasonable amount of time (depending on the circumstances of what work is being done to your vehicle, that statement may vary). It's also family-owned & operated, as I happened to find out years later when I ran into the owner's son who was a former acquaintance of mine, but nevertheless they treat all of their customers with the same courtesy and respect they treat repeat customers like myself with regardless. I needed my car fixed so I went here for a quote. Everybody here is really nice, and they're real professional in their knowledge of motor vehicles. You have money to spend? Then they have every kind of modification you could want. European tunning company options or even factory options that are not available on US production vehicles. I don't know if it's normal to have a long wait or if there was confusion about who was going to help me, but I waited around for 30-40 minutes before I finally got helped but when I did, I was shown many options and some I didn't even know anything about. They were helpful and courteous. I plan on using them in the future after I sell a kidney or two. read more

If I ever had a problem with one of my German, speciality or classic cars in the past 6 years, these guys solved it. That's saying a lot because I've been to plenty of shops that refused to work on a project because it was too difficult to diagnose, or not worth their time. Motorwerks has done everything from changing tires, fixing impossible to figure error codes on Mercedes (specifically ABC suspension) and BMW (specifically emissions controls) check engine lights, to a custom interior complete with an alcantra headliner. Are they the cheapest? Sometimes. Are they they fastest? Maybe for a simple oil change, when time matters. But that's not the point. If you have a need that other shops, including the dealership, won't touch, you should give Motorwerks a shot. read more

After buying various aftermarket suspension and brake parts for my 2009 Mini Cooper S, I was looking for a European car shop to install them without charging an arm and a leg for the labor. I called at least six different European car shops for quotes and all the quotes I received were at least $500-$800 more expensive than what Motorwerks wanted for the labor. Within one day, they were able to install front and rear brake pads, rotors, stainless steel brake lines, Koni shocks/struts, front camber plates, and perform a brake line flush, and alignment. They performed all this work without any issues with the parts that I provided them and also gave me a free car wash. After getting my car back and driving it around a couple days, I noticed my steering wheel to be ever so slightly crooked when driving in a straight line. I called them about this and was informed to bring it in so they could take a look at it. The next day, I brought it in and they were able to straighten out the wheel in under an hour with no additional charges to me. I am very pleased to have found Motorwerks and would recommend people to try them out for warranty, repair, and regular maintenance work. read more

This is the last shop in Houston I'd go to, and for several reasons. A year ago, I came to MW a year ago under the impression that a very nice sign and million dollar showroom cars meant quality. I asked Sunil to install a chip into my BMW's ECU, something that is normally done as a DIY since it is so easy. He made a snide remark about how "you can take it somewhere else if you don't like the price, because this is what we do." I was lazy and afraid of messing something up since I was 100% new to modifying cars, so I gave in and agreed to let him do it. Literally 15 to 20 minutes later, the install was done and I was charged $98. Are you kidding me? I paid and left with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. I wasn't angry, since I understand that 1 minute of shop labor is still counted as 1 hour, but that just goes to show what kind of business Sunil runs: a hungry one. Fast forward a year. I've now met tons of BMW owners and have tried many different shops in Houston. I'm also very knowledgeable compared to a year ago, and can definitely say that I was ripped off the first time at Motorwerks. Everyone I know that's been there has even worse stories than mine, like $800 to install simple coilover suspension (instead of the normal 200-300), not installing center caps on wheels then blaming the customer, taking weeks to complete simple tasks, etc. I went in there recently to get my car tuned by Eurocharged, a separate company that operates from within rented space in Motorwerks, and my greeting was very cold. The receptionist, some young kid, didn't help me find who I was looking for at all. When I asked him to check where the tuner was, he didn't give a shit and told me "I don't know what he's doing." He ignored me when I sat at the bar stools directly in front of his desk. I asked him to get me wheel price quotes, and he said "yeah hold on" and then continued doing whatever it was he was doing. He never got back to me even though I was waiting for an hour and a half. ------------------------------------ CONCLUSION: Unless you look like a walking gold mine, you'll likely be treated like shit here. Even the receptionist is a snob. How does that work? The prices are OUTRAGEOUS and the wait times are unacceptable. The staff needs to learn some manners. Don't be fooled by the pretty sign and expensive cars parked around - there are many other shops that are much better, are fair on pricing, and actually value you as customers even if you don't drive an 80k+ car. P.S. Read the filtered reviews. They are written well within the Yelp rules and are still flagged for having negative opinions. I expect mine to be in there soon. read more

I reached out to VF ENGINEERING for a supercharger. They recommended motorwerks here in Houston for the installation. Other option is to ship the car to them in California for $1500 and back to Houston for $1500. No brainer right? Save $3000 to get it installed here. I've been dealing with Travis from motorwerks so far and I'm pretty satisfied. Minor hiccups on VF ENGINEERINGS fault on delaying the shipment of the supercharger. Delayed as it is, it was suppose to arrive today but it has not yet arrived. Travis is trying to make up for lost time, by me bringing in my car tomorrow morning so they can get started with removing bumper , etc to cut down time on installation. I hope the supercharger gets here on time. Tomorrow, the transformation will begin for my car. I'm stoked and excited. I hope I find a home for all of my cars' need in the future. I will update you guys on how things go and will give you a final & fair verdict on my recommendations for all your car needs. Wish me luck. read more

Went in for an oil change and left with my suv leaking with the oil light and coolant light on. I was informed that my truck was 2 quartz short of oil after taking it to a local BMW shop. Attempted to call Motorwerks to explain the issue but I could not get a word in as I was repeatedly cut off and told it was some other issue that was not mentioned nor brought to my attention in any part my BMW inspection and in fact was hung up on. It was later determined that whoever handled my truck stripped my oil plug. Not to mention I paid $125 only for them to put penzol oil ($40) in. Do not get your oil change here. read more

Sunil re-ordered the AC compressor, the part arrived to the business late Friday morning, and my car was ready for pick-up by 2:45 p.m. The AC is blowing cold and Sunil informed me about a feature on my vehicle (w203) that I was unaware of. They performed a flawless job and in great time. I was surprised how affordable it was to have this service done, especially at a place that has exotics in the showroom. About 2 months ago, I got a b5 service for my Mecedes Benz at this location. Intermittently, when I started the car it, large amounts of smoke would come out of the exhaust as if it were burning oil. I called him and asked him about it and he said that was normal after service. Two days ago I took it to a Mercedes dealership to get something checked out on it that was in warranty and they said no that was not the case at all. They had put way too much oil inside of it and had to replace The oil capacitor cap. Thanks for causing me to have another $420. Next time I'll just take it to the dealership and pay more. read more

I probably have the cheapest car in their shop, but they treat it with the same respect and attention their high end vehicles. People like to exaggerate about their prices. Shoutout to Travis and the folks at Motorwerks Autogroup for a great customer experience, service and price. My 2007 Range Rover was having issues and was in need of some diagnostics and repair. Instead of just throwing parts at it (as a dealership would), Motorwerks methodically diagnosed the issue and fixed the problem. They stayed with it and we're willing to find the real problem instead of just replacing everything. This resulted in my repair bill being considerably less than I would expect from a dealership (take advantage of their 10% off coupon on Yelp). I sincerely appreciated the communications they made with me throughout the entire process. They also wash your car before you pick it. My old 2007 has found a new doctor for good.... Came in about two months ago to get my BMW 2008 528i serviced for a crank shaft motor replacement. Not only did these guys offer a very fair deal but the service was done in excellent time before heading to work. The dealer wanted to charge me and arm and leg these guys did the job with parts and diagnostics around $430.00 which was not bad at all. I believe the guy who worked on my car was Travis. I take my (not fancy) BMW there whenever I have an issue. They're honest and quick and have even fixed a minor issue with my car without charging me. I know, I know...I thought honest mechanics were about as real as unicorns too, but I have yet to have a bad experience with them. Motorwerks is the BEST! I've been taking our Mercedes C300 here for the past few years and I am always impressed by the service provided. I have never felt ripped off or pressured to get things repaired/serviced that I didn't want to. Scheduled an appointment quickly and gave me an over the phone estimate which most places won't do. Although European cars tend to be very expensive, they gave me a reasonable price and beat all others I called by more than $150. This is by far the BEST and most honest car shop I have EVER been to. Ian has always been so upfront, forthright and patient with me. I have a 2006 Mercedes C280 with over 150K miles. Needless to say she has needed some work. I have been to other shops in the area, River Oaks, Sugar Land, and even shops on the same block as Motorwerks. The estimates are always incredibly more expensive with little to no explanation and terrible customer service. I always felt scammed. Ian has never made me feel like I was getting a raw deal. He explains every step of the process and appreciates my budget. He's nice, easy to work with, (easy on the eyes) and patient with my extreme ignorance when it comes to cars. I cannot say enough good things about this shop. I once sat there for 4 hours while they fixed my car, knowing it would take all day, knowing I could leave and come back, just because I wanted to see what I was paying for. This place is horrible in the sense that they don't know what they are doing (or hopefully not looking to scam anyone). I brought in my Lamborghini Gallardo to this place and they quoted me $1,500 for a part replacement since they said it would take a few hours labor but being skeptical, I went to the Lambo dealership instead which took them only 4 minutes to replace that part and it only cost me $180 - and they did this outside in the parking lot!
