This supervisor decided she didn't want to do her job today? Why? Because she didn't feel like it. Oh, ok.

Where to begin... Wow. Have you ever experienced something so awful that it just left you speechless? That was my experience with these folks today. Only some of the staff were wearing masks (including people that were on the floor interacting with customers, and the security staff who literally have to interact with every person that walks in the door. Yikes). The tall lightskinned lady with a short curly hair who checked me in was a godsend, and the only reason that this trip wasn't a complete nightmare. She helped me as best as she could, but with a useless set of coworkers, it's kind of hard to get anything done. I just moved (back) to MD and brought literally every piece of documentation I had to get a new license and register my car in the state. When you go on the MVA website, it gives you a list of documents to bring before confirming your appointment. The first person (heavyset dark skinned black girl) had an issue with my documentation, and told me that I couldn't my license or order my personalized license plates today. She told me that I would have to go to Glen Burnie for the personalized plates, which I found later (from another of her colleagues who actually completed my vehicle registration transaction) was not true. All I have to do is go on MVA's website and order the plates myself. No additional visit necessary. This chick clearly did not come to work, and I don't think she understood her job very well either, because over the course of the next several hours while I was waiting to get my business handled, I saw her keep getting up to ask colleagues to show her how to perform various functions in the system. Anyway, she was ready to send me home empty-handed, but no ma'am. We were going to get SOMETHING done today. I asked her to tell me what I COULD accomplish during this trip, given that I bought practically every piece of identification known to man with me. She seemed unwilling to provide me with that information, so I asked to speak to her supervisor, who told me that I could at least complete the vehicle registration portion of my visit. Fine. The supervisor gives me paperwork and makes me wait in line again. Great. After waiting an hour, they still haven't called my number. I happen to see the same lady with the short hair who checked me and for assistance, and I asked her to help me. She managed to put me back in the system and after another few minutes, my number was called. This guy started my transaction and asked me for an additional piece of information that was not on the list I've required documents: the registration for my car. I told him that I would have to run to my car and get it. He told me I needed a pass and asked his supervisor to write one.... And he informed me that I would have to get back in line. Again. Great The same supervisor from before (a short, heavyset Hispanic woman) whines and complains about having to write it (she literally just had to sign her name at the bottom of this little slip of paper), and before handing the slip over to the guy, she gets on the intercom to announce to everyone that she will not be writing anymore passes and that if someone doesn't have documentation then they'll have to reschedule their appointment....All because she didn't feel like doing her job. Passive aggressive much? I politely informed her that if the state of Maryland had given me an accurate list of all the documentation I needed in the first place, we wouldn't be in this situation right now. Imagine not doing your job simply because you don't feel like it and inconveniencing people to the point where they have to take more time out of their busy day to return to this hellscape in order to complete their business. The audacity... Long story short, pack your patience... And probably a face shield. These people clearly don't care about helping customers, and they definitely don't care about our safety.

I had to renew my drivers license. When I received the notice I was faced with dread. Going to the MVA is akin to going in for a colonoscopy but without out the fun. You must be asking "But how can you give the MVA 4 stars?" Because I had a great experience. I arrived 15 minutes before they opened and waited outside. When they opened I was 20th in line. I checked in, got my number. By the time I say down my number was called. 15 minutes later I was out the door. It would have been faster if the person helping me didn't have to reboot his system. I even got a great picture for my DL. I almost forgot how good looking I am. The staff was friendly, service prompt. Yes, a lot was driven by the fact that I was there early, but it was well worth it. The MVA misses the 5th start because of the system reboot, because their web site is awful and because you don't walk out with a DL like you used to. Don't go often, but when you do, go early and you should also have a nice experience.

This place continues to disappoint me in ways that only a government agency can! I have spent a total of about 4 hours in this location in the last few weeks which is 4 hours to many. And I still haven't completely gotten everything I need done because they keep giving me the run around. The first time I went they told me I need d to stand in line. I stood in the kiosk line for about 72 minutes due to the fact that 2 out of the 3 machines were malfunctioning. Once I got to the kiosk to print out the proper documentation they told me you can't print that here you must go to the dmv in virginia. I just went back to my office and decided to fight this battle another day! Day 2 I brought what they told me to bring. I wait 65 minutes for my number to be called they call me I'm excited ready to complete my long awaited task and they inform me that my birth certificate is actually a registration not a proper form of ID but the woman at the front checked it all out 69 Minutes ago. At this point I'm just going to try again tomorrow.

Don't visit the MVA expecting to get out in a timely manner. Come early enough to handle your business.

Do not ask for documentation more than once. I had to make four Appointments to complete my process which it's still pending.

This was our lucky day, short lines fast service, I am guessing it was a day of days to get in and be out of the MVA in under 90 minutes

Extremely rude staff and workers who give you attitude and are extremely impatient. I would recommend a different facility.

I made a basic error navigating the check in link and stood in line calmly asking if she could help me. She harassed me and it was completely retaliatory, she admitted she recognized me once she did and that was when she told me so and to "STOP!" talking, then raised her voice at me and interrupted me telling me to stop raising my voice (I wasn't, and it was ironic because she yelled this at me). At a prior appointment attempting to get my license, I worked with her and during the appointment she told me that the customer service rep I spoke with did not know what she was talking about, I calmly and reasonably expressed my frustration that the customer service had given me wrong information (I had to make a new appointment and come back), I left. Then, during the follow up appointment this morning while asking for help during check in while speaking to me she said "I recognize you" interrupting me, literally yelled "STOP!" at me and told me to leave while I was calmly asking her a question. She completely victimized herself while acting like a bully, meanwhile the security guard was sitting arms crossed half asleep because I am guessing they are used to her outbursts and it is not indicative of an emergency. This behavior and treatment is completely unprofessional and unfair. Calm assertion from a woman is not aggression, she acted like I was a threat by being direct and composed. I missed my appointment because she refused to speak with me and she admitted it was because it was me.

Due to a "technical error," this office spent years trying to recoup an overpayment that did not exist, slashing my benefits to recoup the money that I supposedly owed them and forcing me through the repeated stress of appealing their decision. I cannot count how many times I called them, quite literally begging someone (anyone) to just look at my file, where they'd be able to see that I didn't owe anything. They would reinstate my benefits temporarily, usually without any formal acknowledgment, only to cut them again. This cycle continued for over five years, and I got different explanations every single time for why it was happening. Last year, I called Jamie Raskin's office in a desperate bid for help. According to the intern who followed up on my behalf, this whole thing was due to a "technical error" in SSA's system which has supposedly been fixed. But now right after that they were finally forced to concede it was their fault, not mine, I'm up for redetermination, and the nonsense has begun immediately. They have at this point completely stopped my benefits because, and I quote, "USPS failed to deliver a piece of mail to your stated address and since you're already in redetermination, your payments have been stopped until this is all sorted out." When will it be sorted out? When the stars align. Until then, my family has to make due with a $300 bank balance. Other fun experiences at this particular branch: - 3-5 hour wait times, even if you get there before the office opens. - Being refused appointments when trying to make them. - Having requests for formal, in-person case reviews completely ignored. - Magically changing paperwork deadlines (one notice will say you have until the 28th, the next will say the 24th) - A constantly-rotating door of case workers, not a single one of which has ever returned a phone call. - The time I hand-delivered our new lease to the office, asked for some proof that we brought it to them, was yelled at for wanting proof ("we're not going to lose it!") and then they lost it. Was told two years later that I failed to update my address in a timely manner and my benefits were once again cut.
