They never answered my calls, in person I watched them actively ignore phone calls all the time. The owners have switched so the prices on photos are wrong, the new prices are more expensive. My driving instructor was always on her phone, not very helpful, but she did teach me how to park. I feel like I wasted my money here, and honestly they need to update their Yelp account or make a New one for their business. I didn't get to test due to my 5 hour not registering in the system. I'll be finding a new school. They should've stepped in to resolve the issue with my testing person.. all she had to do was look on the tablet instead of the paper to see the updated 5 hour courses but no one gave me a break, you'd think after spending my money there they'd give me resources. I had to reschedule my test myself even though it states they will schedule the test for you. Don't really recommend this place for new drivers. Great place to waste money though! read more

I had the privilege of having Rudy as my instructor for highway lessons. He was patient, funny, practical, very informative, and so reassuring! Rudy helped me to feel comfortable driving on the highway. Thank God! I am so happy! Rudy is a great instructor! I finished my lessons reassured and confident after each lesson. I came across and purchased a Groupon for motivational driving school, believing it was time to conquer my fear of driving. I hadn't read any reviews about the instructors and had the experience of working with 2: Alan and Chuck. I had most of my classes with Alan (about 6), who is a detail oriented instructor who provides clear and concise feedback. He is down to earth, honest and creates a space where you can feel supported while you learn. He is the type of instructor who tells you that you're doing good and further details the behavior so you can continue it. He is just as forward regarding areas of opportunity so you can focus in on those areas. There were a couple times Alan was booked out and I took lessons with Chuck. He is a very laid back instructor but did not provide me with the details necessary in order for me to improve after each lesson. He did, however provide me with written instructions for parking and 3 point U-Turns. Based on this experience, I decided to wait for Alan to become available and take my remaining classes with him. Not only was I more confident after our classes, I was able to pass my road-test on the first attempt! Alan was extremely honest about what I could still use work on and those were the exact areas I got points deducted for haha. This driving school makes up for a great team. Starting with the management.. They do an amazing job in that school and there are no words to emphasize the work that they do. Joshua is very insightful on what I was doing wrong and gave tips on how to correct it in very few lessons. Chuck was helpful with setting up the lessons accordingly to my schedule. Chiquita was very informative and it helped me to see another fellow female driver so that I can relate. Ultimately, Alan made me feel super powerly confident, relaxed and happy! I may be bias because I spent majority of my time with him but he is the best. This is a no frills establishment. It's a nice small space with people who are equipped to teach you how to drive safely and well. The neighborhood they practice in is ideal, as it has literally every traffic situation that can occur within that block. Narrow turn. Wide turn. Yield. Stop. Traffic. 3-point. Abrupt stopping. What to do when "whatever" does this, etc. Real life happens when you drive in that area people, not an unrealistically quiet suburban street, you'll be learning how to drive like a NYer, well a safe NYer lol. I took the 5 hour class here and you watch that in their back room. Time passed by fairly quickly and at certain points they allowed for breaks or in the event that no one wanted a break, they'd allow for us to continue on with the program. Non the less, Margarita was my instructor and she was amazing. She is super energetic and helpful, very encouraging as well! My last two lesson were with Joshua who was also extremely helpful, he will definitely let you know what you're doing wrong but also help you understand how to correct them! I saw this place had good reviews and was close to my house so I decided to purchase their Groupon for 2 driving lessons and the 5 hour certification class. I called to schedule and I had an appointment for Thursday at 9am the next week. I got there at 8:59am that day and told the receptionist I had a lesson at 9. She asked for my name and then told me that they cancelled my appointment. Um, when was anyone planning to tell ME that? There was a snowstorm in NYC that Tuesday, so she said a lot of road tests and lessons were rescheduled because of it so they were super backed up. Ok, but the snowstorm was Tuesday and today is Thursday. I told her they should have called me or left a voicemail so I wouldn't waste my time waking up early to go there, but she said she would call the instructor to see where he was since he was with a customer at her road test. After they spoke for a few minutes, she said he would be back in 10-15 minutes to do my lesson, but proceeded to complain about how he "gets mad at her all the time" and "has an attitude for no reason." At 9:40am, the instructor pulls up in the car and she tells me to go out to him. He was 40 minutes late to my lesson when she originally said 10-15 minutes, and the lessons are 45 minutes each. Luckily, I had the time to wait that morning but it was still frustrating from the beginning. I get into the car with the instructor Jose. As soon as I sit in the driver's seat, he starts complaining about how the previous client was 45 minutes late to her road test and it set him back. He also complained about the receptionist and how she "doesn't tell him anything." He was cursing and overall sounding very unprofessional from the jump. I asked to get started since we were already so late, and informed him that this was my first time driving and I was very very nervous. Again, I let him know in advance that I had just gotten my permit and NEVER driven before. He responded with "Ok, just start driving." Um, ok?? The entire lesson was an absolute nightmare. Jose was the definition of unprofessional, ghetto and just plain rude. He has absolutely no patience and rushes through the entire thing. He gave barely any instructions and when he did, it was extremely condescending and talks to you like you're stupid. I learned absolutely nothing and was very uncomfortable and anxious the entire lesson. There were multiple times where I'd almost hit another car and he'd get angry at me for making mistakes even though he's not teaching me how to do it correctly. I was on the verge of a panic attack and he was not comforting whatsoever. Here are some of the condescending, ridiculous comments he made: "Nobody in your family knows how to drive? Why didn't you just have them teach you?" EXCUSE ME? Sorry that I wanted to learn from a trained professional, as most people prefer?! I am literally paying you to teach me how to drive, so shut up and teach. "Why aren't you slowing down? It's a red light. Do you know what a red light means? It means stop. So stop." OK yes I know what it means literally 5 year olds know that red lights mean stop. But he would say this to me when we were so far away from the traffic light that if I started slowing down when he expected me to, it wouldn't be safe. I was also still learning how much pressure to apply to the brakes since it was my FIRST TIME DRIVING A CAR. So sue me for not being perfect. "Why did you only buy 2 lessons? Do you really think you could learn how to drive and pass the road test in 2 lessons, especially when you've never driven before? Come on." UM ok first of all, how many lessons I chose to buy at once is none of your business. Maybe I couldn't afford to pay for them all at once? Or maybe I wanted to see how the lessons went and if I liked the school before I decided to buy more? I confronted him saying that he wasn't teaching me anything and that his attitude was honestly repulsive but he tried to argue saying that it's been a busy day. THAT IS NO EXCUSE TO TREAT A CUSTOMER POORLY. It is not my problem that your schedule was backed up. If you would've called me on Wednesday to reschedule we wouldn't have had this issue. Don't take out your stress and anger on me. Driving instructors need to be calm, patient and understanding ESPECIALLY for anxious drivers. Jose was none of those things. He treated me with absolutely no respect and ultimately compromised my safety. He also cut the lesson short by 15 minutes but I honestly didn't care because I needed to get out of the car. I jumped out once we got back and was very shaken. I immediately called Groupon and was refunded because I refuse to go back there, regardless if it's a different instructor. I passed my road test the 1st time thanks to him. The other staff members are nice, never had an issue with making appointments, I would suggest keeping the same instructor for the whole time. I called to asked pricing and availability and the receptionist on 6/29/21 at 9:15am was extremely rude, I'm so shocked that I had to write a review and I will let you very single person I know about this level of unprofessionalism! I I simply asked is there a reason for the $20 fee to book the exam in addition to the car rental I was expecting to pay for and the lessons for which she says you can book it yourself, am I not worthy of getting paid for doing it for you, you expect me to do this for free? So I said ... umm ok, there's no reason to be rude I'm just asking a question and she hangs up on me and when I called back I was blocked. Don't look anywhere else!!! I had about 8 lessons here and passed my road test the first time. I am one of those ppl who feel that being in NY means we don't really need to drive. The mta sucks 80% of the time but it works. There's nothing like Manhattan traffic unless you live in LA. Anyway, I decided after 29 years it was time for me to learn how to drive. As most New Yorkers do I hopped on yelp. This place had the best reviews. I found people like myself who were pretty much inexperienced who passed their road test the first time. DO NOT GET THE GROUPON PACKAGE unless you know how to drive or have someone to practice with. For me it didnt make sense. You will probably end up spending more money being that you'll need more lessons. I paid for the 8-10 lesson package. I called and spoke to Will. He explained everything in great detail & answered every question I had. My first lesson was with Chuck. Chuck is a cool guy, very helpful but it didn't work out with me. I think Chuck is more for people who have some prior experience. Chuck did teach me how to execute a 3 point u-turn perfectly though. After calling the office speaking with Will (super cool guy he usually answers the phone) and explaining how I felt he set me up with Allen. Now Allen has the patience for the newbies. Allen tells you exactly what you need to pass the test and he tries to build up your confidence. I learned how to park perfectly without much direction. My last lesson with Allen he took me on the highway! The highway is pretty scary for a new driver but I felt safe, confident & ready! The day of my road test Allen was on vacation so I had to ride with Chiquita. Love her!!! She's upfront with you. She said to me Passion Im 90% sure you're going to pass. You're doing everything well. Just get your nerves under control. Lol. She was right! I passed the first time. So grateful to all of you at Motivational driving school!!! The women that answered was rude and answered my questions with extreme ill manner, excuse for not answering emails and phone is that she's busy, how can you expect her to answer when she's busy. I was completely turned off by the instructor who drove me to and from the driving test. Jose was not only driving while eating breakfast but we almost got into an accident on the way to the test. He asked me who my original driver instructor was and then bashed him the entire time. On top of that after the driving test he was supposed to immediately return me to the school and without telling me he drove me to Fordham so he could run an errand. When I told him I wanted to be taken back to the school, he told me I shouldn't have scheduled to do anything else that day. Ladies, I would absolutely NOT get in a car with that man. read more

This place is amazing!!! I had started taking classes in 2019 but because of covid never completed my classes or previous test before. I started going back in 2021 and what can I say today I took my test and passed!!!! I had previously failed it at another location which also discouraged me but thanks to the wonderful instructors here I felt sure in myself. I'm giving them two stars because the young guy who schedules you is really nice and helpful. Other than that, I think it's incredibly unorganized. They didn't counsel me at all about how I should structure my lessons. I had José & in the beginning, he would drive me to Throggs Neck and we would drive around there. Towards the end of my lessons, I began driving him to run errands - usually to his house or to a store. If I made a mistake, he was snappy and yelled at me. All in all, I failed! I took 12 lessons , TWELVE & I was so nervous that I failed. Also, when I signed up, I was told that if you purchased a package & failed you could take lessons again but at $5 off the price of each lesson. Well when I failed, I went back to reschedule lessons and was told that the owner had decided to do away with the $5 off policy and now I would have to pay full price all over again. So I switched to a different driving school. Also, during the 5 hour class, they put you in a room and play the videos and that's it. In the new school I went to, Best Way Driving School, an instructor actually passed out a copy of the road test and went over every single category and what to do and what not to do BEFORE he even turned any videos on. read more

I purchased the package that included the 5 hour class, 5 lessons and the road test. When I went they added an extra lesson for free because I got the package. Thanks to them I was able to pass my road test and get my license. Keep in mind that you won't have the same driving instructor. I've had 4 different instructors who all park different. This can get confusing and you have to pick whichever method is best for you. For my first and last lesson I had the instructor Joshua, he was calm, patient and told you how it was, because of him I was confident in my parking skills which was my only only concern for the test. One last thing, they only take cash or Zelle. They don't take credit or debit which is weird but just giving a heads up so you don't run into any surprises. read more

Don't see where the great reviews came from. I booked a single lesson for a 4pm class. Alexandra mentioned if you live 5 minutes away they will do a pick up. I told her where I lived she said it is fine and the instructor will do a pick up. 4pm quickly approaches and she sends a text at 3:47pm to met the instructor at the driving school before the lesson. We send a text back to clarify that when we made the appointment they clarified they will pick us up. We received a texted back that the instructor isn't picking us because we are 6 minutes away LOL...what? We arrive at the school at 4:10pm. We see the driving school car parked with an instructor in it. The instructor was literally leaned all the way back smoking a vape and showing his underwear. We say hello and he ignores us. Another instructor approaches us and says oh the instructor in the car will carry out the rest of the lesson since we are late. I told him No we are not late because the instructor was suppose to go to the address for a pick up. This guy goes and talks to Alexandra who is with a customer and says she told us they won't pick us up because we aren't 5 minutes away. I told him that she said yes they were gonna pick us up. The constant back and forth was ridiculous. The situation was ridiculous, I got my refund back for this single lesson. I went into the driving school to speak to Alexandra and she was with customers so I was waiting and the other instructor says something in Spanish to her and he brought me out the store to give me back my refund in cash. Clearly this was done so the customers there do not see the interaction and the lack of communication this school has. Ridiculous and lack of respect for people time besides their own. I would strongly advise you to take your money elsewhere. The driving school is extremely unorganized and they do not speak very good English. They once called me, while I was in a lesson, and asked If I had cancelled a lesson for the following day. Mind you, I was in the car with one of the instructors. Additionally, you get a different instructor every time you go which is completely unhelpful especially because they do not have a standard of teaching. Every teacher teaches a different way so every time you go, you're learning a new way to park, new way to turn, new everything. During the 5 hour class, because it was virtual, they put a computer in front of a TV at a terrible angle and just played the video. Meanwhile, you can barely see and they were being so loud in the office you could barely here. Not to mention, they did not check the laptop's battery so it was frequently dying and the zoom would end. The only way this driving school would work for you, is if you're like me and you already had a good sense of how to drive. Otherwise, don't bother. The only reason I'm giving this one star is because of an instructor named Margarita. She was amazing and makes you feel really confident with your driving skills. Keep in mind though, her English isn't great but definitely understandable. Also, the lessons are very much overpriced for the sub par teaching you will be getting. Don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews like I was because the highly rated reviews were for drivers that no longer work there, for more than obvious reasons. Run! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! Don't be fooled by the other reviews. Im giving one star for Jimmy because he was great! However management was horrible! Yolanda and her son Chuck are far from professional! So is her secretary. Unfortunately due to my moms sickness I had to cancel one of my classes and called 9am to reschedule my class for that day at 3pm. Yolanda told me on the phone , after my explaining the situation, now I gotta charge you 15.00 for cancelation because I don't have a slot now meaning a customer to fill that class??? So I told her I didn't know what she was talking about and she said the sign on the wall says that if you cancel without notice you charge 15.00. I didn't have the time to argue so let her go. (My mom was ill) . When I went for my next class I got CONFRONTED by Yolanda AND her secretary "Do you have the 15.00 you owe"??? In front of the other customers, who by the way were waiting for their instructors in that tiny office with no social distancing. They pointed to the sign which read " if you don't cancel ahead of time you will be charge 15.00". The sign did not specify the time, a couple of hours ahead (which I gave 6 hour notice considering it was an emergency), or 24 hours or two days. I pointed that out. The unprofessional was real! Horrible! They are REALLY nice when you go ask information and signing up. After they got your money they don't care about you. I suggest you trying one or two classes first before a package. There are some really nice people working here. The lady at the front desk is really nice and understanding and the prices are reasonable. However , I had Jose as an instructor but pleaseeee listen to me when I tell you DO NOT take him! He has no patience and is constantly cursing and being unprofessional as well as he gets mad really easily.
