Ruth is a great driving instructor. She's a little strict but very caring at the same time, which honestly helped me learn better. She's friendly and easy to talk to, but she also makes sure you're actually improving and not just going through the motions. So, this is the makeup to a previous review I did on Bronx Driving School and let me say that Rick and Amy are who work the front desk at this business are very patient, helpful, motivating , accommodating and most off , helpful. After , my negative experience with Raphael and the 18 class B driving classes I took which essentially lead to me failing the exam because I wasn't adequately trained for the CDL CLASS B exam initially was supplemented when I received the positive feedback, patience and encouragement from the instructor, "WALTER" who was amazing. Any questions , I had in regards to the CDL exam , were answered and he was motivating even after I failed one time after a lesson I had with him. However, I only had to take two (2) classes with Walter to notice a complete change in my assessment of the exam and my results. Trash school. Owner asks for copies of your permit to take a lesson and go for the test. But then they NEGLECT TO TELL YOU TO BRING IT AGAIN FOR THE TEST, and don't honor your ride home. Ghetto and not logical. If people need things leave a message or text them with what they need. Who would bring a permit you already have on file? Their unorganized and unprofessional. I am so incredibly happy to have been referred to BRONX DRIVING SCHOOL!!! I purchased a 6 lesson package and had three different instructors. While this may be upsetting to some, I found it to be very helpful. I started with Jorge, had a lesson with Luis and ended with Sam. I took four lessons with Sam who is an amazing instructor. He's knowledgeable, informative and very patient! I am elated with the service that was provided to me. 3/19/21 My lesson was at 11am with Sam Williams -Driving Instructor (not professional and rude) Starts off with asking me if I'm OK with him having his mask on or NOT (which is extremely unprofessional and violates Covid-19 health violations). He was aggressively insisting on me sitting inside the car even though he didn't properly put on his mask yet, so I patiently waited until he did so. The seats in the car were extremely low as if he's riding with friends and not teaching a lesson. Throughout the entire lesson (and I have taken at least 4 with 4 different men) I felt VERY UNCOMFORTABLE along with his arrogance and attitude towards me and his overly sarcastic talk and tone as if he knew me. I am a paying customer not someone you can speak to any kind of way. I kindly asked him a question in reference to what he said and his response was "do as you were commanded" as if I'm not a human being which was extremely rude. How does anyone speak to a human being let alone a woman like this? I was so uncomfortable with this driving instructor that I had to leave early from my lesson and when I expressed to him how he spoke to me, he raised his voice and decided to continue to be rude and didn't care that he was on the clock speaking to a paying customer in this manner. Sam William is not someone who is a teacher for driving lessons he is someone who should educate people on aggressive behavior on the road because he knows all about that and is extremely aggressive himself and does not create a comfortable atmosphere for someone who is a beginner driver. I do think your school has great in-house staff because the office responded to getting my information and my needs whenever I called. Especially with the situation at hand, the supervisor Rick, listened and understood the circumstances and knew parts of it were absolutely wrong on the instructors part and handled the situation accordingly read more

I needed to get my license in less than a week I'm not even kidding guys I got a great job offer and I was desperate. I called them on a Tuesday and got the package for the rush road test and a car and one brush up lesson with a 5 hour class. I don't know why some of these reviews down talk this business because they got me my road test 5 days later on a Saturday which was amazingly fast the guy that gave the 5 hour class was very down to earth and straight forward which I can respect. I got my 45 minute brush up from Mike he was awsome and thorough made me feel like I was driving with a good friend instead of an uptight instructor. And I passed my test with flying colors. I was so doubtful and nervous but they got me through it with a smile. Even Elsa the lady who drove me to the test was super helpful and encouraging. 5 stars hands down. read more

This is a scam !!! They are all family and will take as much money from you as possible. Very unprofessional instructor comes late to pick me up for my driving class and on top gives attitude for asking for more time that I deserved. Mind you no one called to let me know the instructor is running 15 minutes late. However they are quickly to charge you up front and if you not there time is lost. Then I have another instructor texting and playing pokemon while teaching me how to drive. Not giving me any feedback or telling me things Im supposed to know to pass the road test. On the day of the road test, not one thing was said on what to expect. Had me sitting for an hour in silence while the instructor was on his phone on facebook and playing pokemon. Failed to tell me all the red flags which caused me to fail my road test. The next day I called to explain my frustration. I was told it was going to be taken care of and nothing. I waited and waited. I go in person to speak to the supervisor. Has no interest in helping me nor apologizing for what happened. Instead wants to bring up his frustration on me asking if they offered military discount. And on top have the audicity to insult me for questioning what they do and knowing my rights. read more

This is probably the worst driving school I have ever been to. After failing my road test, they schedule another one and the instructor I received was horrible. She would grab my hands at the wheel and consistently belittle me. After failing the second time I realize it wasn't just because I was nervous, but because the teachers were HORRIBLE. Learning to drive? Need defensive driving course? CDL? Road Way has a great instructors and prices to help you accomplish your driving needs. I used them for a defensive driving course to reduce my car insurance by 15%. The course was fun and interactive. My baby Sister is turning 18 and getting anxious to drive. I don't want her practicing in my car! I bought her a package with 6 lessons, 5 hours class, and car for the road test for under $300. She was able to choose a female instructor as she thought she may be more comfortable with her. The instructors pick her up from home and drop her off after 45 minute practice until next time. These guys are professional and courteous. All there cars are updated and fairly new. This is a great place to start. read more

This is the best school in the Bronx. They are attentive to your needs. I was able to start training immediately after I signed up, and within two to three weeks, I took my 8 classes and passed my drivers test. All thanks to Jorge, who taught me everything I know every step of the way. I chose him as my instructor for all my classes and never doubted that I was going to pass my first try. As a non experienced driver, he was able to make me feel comfortable on the road, and believed in my efforts since the first lesson we had together. Can I select 0 Stars? These guys claim to have the best packages, best prices, best cars, best instructors, etc.. I paid cash for a 6 lesson package for my girl and not only did they show up 1 hour late, they tried to force her to take two of the 45 minute classes at once otherwise threatening not being able to pick her up from her house for the lessons. Defining their designated zones are met with obvious "at will" partiality. When they spoke to my girl, there was no conversation about "zones", "not getting picked up", etc. Their website clearly doesn't provide any insight. I requested a cash refund for the remainder of the package and Rick, the self-entitled manager said "No problem, it's all the same to us. Come by anytime so we can cut you a check". I told him, "I gave you cash. I want cash in return". The drama continues... read more

I'd give 0 starts if that was an option. Scheduled apt for my son to do lesson there, had to call to reschedule or cancel and they were nasty. No refund, no reschedule! A lot of talking and saying nothing. Very money hungry and they are not customer oriented! Did not explain cancelation policy at time of purchase but has all the excuses in the book. FYI: This particular location CHANGED THEIR NAME to "Bronx Driving School". I think "Roadway" is just a chain of relatively independent driving schools. This review applies only to this particular location. TL;DR: My experience with them was so bad that it inspired me to write my first yelp review. Unprofessional, incompetent, and more expensive to boot! I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here. They have a lot of available scheduling time because few people want to go back to them for a second lesson. --- If you are desperate enough to go here, ask for your instructor's certification BEFORE paying a penny (search the NYDMV's website for "Requirements and forms for driving schools and instructors"). I think they employ people off of the street. I went to a different driving school and as soon as I told them where I went first, they said they've heard tons of stories about this place from students who left from there the way I did. I'm not repeating their hearsay, but apparently this place has a reputation. It's no surprised that they recently . So, I scheduled a lesson for what I thought was 4:30pm. I call the next day to confirm and she said it was 4pm. I probably misheard her - she had a Spanish accent and I wasn't listening closely enough, totally my fault (she was actually the kindest, most professional, and most competent person I dealt with at this school). I would lose 30 minutes of my 90 minute lesson to that mistake, so I asked if the instructor can drive 5 minutes away from the original pickup location to save me the 25 minutes it would take to travel there by bus. They refused. The 5 minute drive was just too far for them. Fine. I eventually meet the instructor. He's sitting the car talking on the phone. His breath smells like he smokes a LOT of marijuana (I've known people who do this and I'm familiar with the smell). He continues to talk on the phone for a short while after I get into the car. No introduction or attempt to help me find the lever to adjust the seat, just total focus on his phone call. We eventually pull out (with him still on the phone), and within a minute he reaches over and turns on the radio to Hot 97. RAP MUSIC, DURING THE DRIVING LESSON. Putting aside the fact that I hate rap music, there should be -no- music playing during a driving lessons at all. We drive somewhere safer place to practice (rap music still playing). He gives me some advice on the way there. Not much, but some. I ask him questions and his responses are not very helpful at all. He sounds annoyed to answer any questions at all ("how early on should I signal for a turn on the test" is apparently a guarded secret). After a parallel parting attempt. I turn to ask him something and he interrupts me, and tells me to pull out and drive while I ask my question. He said he's on a schedule. The 10 seconds to hold still and answer a question about an action I was -just- about to perform (pulling out of a parking space) was too much to ask. At the end of the "lesson", he barely gives a proper goodbye. I had to approach him and offer a handshake out of decency. Completely unprofessional. This school willingly employs(ed?) a *probable* drug abuser that plays distracting music during a mediocre-at-best driving lesson. I can't judge the other driving instructors since I didn't take a lesson with them, but clearly the school has very low standards for hiring. My story is very similar to other stories I head about this school, so it's probably just a running theme with this place. I -immediately- called the driving school and cancelled my next appointment with them. If you don't believe anything I wrote where, or just really want to go to this school for whatever reason, schedule a SINGLE short lesson with them, get proof that your teacher is ACTUALLY certified to be a driving instructor, and pass judgement on the school yourself. Also, take a single lesson from one or two other schools to base your comparison on, especially if you plan on paying for a big package of lessons. It's better to wait longer time for appointments at good schools than waste money at a place like this. Don't go here. read more

I can't say enough good things about Roadway. I was recommended to go to Roadway by a friend. Best thing I could've done! I bought a package for 6 classes, the 5 hour class and the road test. I was super nervous when I got picked up for my first lesson but the instructor, Ralph was amazing! He was calm and made me feel calm and confident while driving. He had great tips and made it really easy to parallel park and do turns. The 5 hour class is the 5 hour class but they did their best to make it engaging and it wasn't so bad. Unfortunately I was only able to take 2 of my classes before I had to take the road test. Due to my job needing me to have a drivers license ASAP I had to schedule it elsewhere. Even though I was nervous I was confidant that I would be ok with what I learned in just two classes. Sure enough I passed my test thanks to Ralph!!! I can only imagine how much better it would've been if I could've actually taken all my lessons. Oh and they were great about giving me a refund for the classes not taken. read more

So here's my story.. lol.. I took the driving test last year with a different driving school, I ended all failing, I got 50 points, pretty bad right. So I went online this year around June & decided to try Bronx Driving School Corp, very professional & respectful. I had the 6 lesson package. I ended up doing 3 lesson, my five hour class & 3 lessons the weekend of my road test. I had probably the best instructor & I highly recommend him "Sam Williams" he's a very chill instructor but also has the knowledge to make you a very good driver. He taught me the rights & wrong & little techniques. The day of my test, I told him I have a little bit of anxiety & told me just to relax & he played music while we waited for our test. Fast forward to me taking the road test, I got my confidence & ended up passing my test (only got 20 points, which is a past). I absolutely love them and my instructor Elaine. I, like many others had no driving experience what so ever. On my first meeting with Elaine she made me feel 100% comfortable and relaxed. She is extremely patient and pleasant to be around. I took the package with 10 driving lessons but didn't feel confident enough to take my road test so i purchased an additional 6 with the advise of Elaine. This is a great driving school! Well priced compared to others GREAT customer service whenever I called they were always nice and never gave me a hard time! The 5 hour class is great I took it with Ralph in the morning and he gave GREAT tips and the actual evaluation sheet that the test administrators use and went through everything explaining it! I bought the 3 lesson package and used my own car, I also took a lesson right before the test with Elsa she was AMAZING with the parallel parking lesson, Jose was great with my second lesson on three point turns and my first lesson was with Ian he was very helpful with everything! I passed my test this morning on the first try! And I could not be happier I am very satisfied with my experience here at the driving school!
