Growing up in Hong Kong, I've generally been told to stay away from Chungking Mansions because of all the weird/dangerous stuff that goes on there, but perhaps I can be a little more courageous and venture forth into this building more often (just not too deep into the place).
Moti Mahal is a great Indian restaurant- good quality, and value for money. I had the set for two- (yes they offer a set lunch menu, just ask for it), which comes with papadum, naan, rice, 2 curries, 2 drinks (including lassi)for $288, which makes for a very filling and reasonably priced meal. As my fellow diner is lactose intolerant, we substituted the Palak paneer (spinach and cottage cheese curry) with a vegetable curry.
The papadum was crisp, and mildly spicy, and they were nice enough to give us two kinds of naan- plain and garlic. They could have been a little softer and chewier, but they were still good. The vegetable curry and pork curry were also great, personally I thought the vegetable curry was better on the grounds that it had a more diverse range of flavours and scents. The rice was also good- they used basmati rice and added a tiny bit of carrots inside to keep it slightly moist. The tandoori chicken was also very flavourful and surprisingly juicy. My lassi was also very creamy and flavourful.
All in all, it was a great experience and I definitely have to come back the next time I have a weekday free. read more
