Good Indian restaurant in Kowloon. This place is popular among the expats so I recommend making a reservation on weekends. It's a bit hard to find this place but just follow the sign and go to the 2nd floor. There is a live music entertainment which was interesting and amusing. The food is pretty good, they have all the typical standard dishes like tikka masala, vindaloo, garlic nan, samosa, etc.

I have been here at least 3 or 4 times and all times amazing. All visits we were brought here by people from India so this must be the real deal. What I like most about this place is the live music. I would go back just for the music but I go for the food and company. They are very busy all the time and sometimes we have to wait for a while to be seated. I never order the food and everything ordered is amazing. My fave of course is the Nan and Lamb and everything as spicy as possible for me!!! lol.... My son loves the Butter chicken. My wife is like me and eats everything.

First time in Hong Kong and this was the first restaurant I tried upon arriving and I'm glad I made the right choice! Curries have a special place in my heart and the paneer makhani and dhingri mutter take the cake. They were so good that every bite was just pure bliss. Got plain basmati and mint pratha as well. Flavors are well-balanced and you can tell that they don't skimp on the spices. We also got the panipuri for starters and that was really refreshing. They served them on top of what seemed to be a shot glass and that looked really fancy.

Probably one of the best meals we had during a two week visit to Hong Kong. Does that say much? As in most restaurants in Hk, you really have to be looking for it to find it... Took us a bit to find this location. The decor is lovely and inviting. There was also a keyboardist playing some live music during dinner. The staff are all dressed well and polite. We loved everything that we ordered, especially the garlic naan. The lamb dish was divine; everything cooked to perfection. Not too pricey either! Highly recommended!

What a surprise in HK. Was craving for Indian and found it in yelp. Didn't have much review so didn't have high expectation. But it gave me pleasant surprise with fantastic lamb chop. Tandoori lamb chop was superb. Also had prawn vindaloo which wasn't as spicy as I thought but I'm really good with super spicy food so it could be just me. Two other girls I went with had hard time taking 3rd spoon not to mention they were almost teary after 1st spoon. Chicken tika masala was also decent although I wasn't blown away. Garlic naan was alright. I've had better ones. Their garlic naan doesn't have much garlic in them making it very plain. We also ordered spinach dish and it was vert creamy. I usually don't like Indian style veggies as I like veggies crunch and fresh but this mushy creamy spinach was almost like soup and it was very well made. Tons of local people and visitors but the noise level was very low which I also enjoyed after crowded shopping for whole day. Took out a star for plain garlic naan and slightly sewer scented restroom.

Excellent food. Great spices - also presentation. Very pricey, though (almost HKD 140 for one order of samosas - four small samosas!). Would definitely go back - probably for the buffet though. :)

Good food. A little spicy. On the second floor. Good service. A little unkept by western standards

I found this Indian place on the internet and they advertised $130 hkd lunch buffet. We got there at 1pm and the place was empty except 1 table. The service was horrible and the food was not much better. They never ask me for another drink or anything. Then they charged my 10% for service, which they provide none. The food was all plain and not much taste. Some of the dishes were cold because I think they did not want to lite the sterno fire under it. The fish tikka had bones in it. Terrible ! When I got the bill they upped the price and when I questioned them they said price just went up last week. Maybe just the gringo price. See photos. I would avoid this place. There are much better choices in Hong Kong.

Known for quality food and clean interiors, this location did the same as well. The interior was very clean and the service was very good. Vegan Medu Vada - this was the least liked item for us. The Medu Vada, seemed very small for SB and looked as it was made by novice rather than an experienced chef. The MVs are normally much bigger and perfectly round and equal batter all around. Just one chutney and very little sambhar didn't help. The Vegan Rava Masala Dosa was better. Nice crisp dosa overfilled with Potato and Onion masala. The three chutneys and sambhar (less qty.) was good. The mostly Vegan North Indian Thaali was good as well. The curries to the point. The curries had a South Indian touch though, which is OK. The cauliflower 65 pakora was the best and super crunchy.

The hubster got his staple at any South Indian restaurant, which was a rava masala dosa. An uttapam for the child, which seemed slightly undercooked in the center. Good chutneys, especially the tomato one, which was a bit different, more gingery (works too well for me). The idli was soft, not as white and the vada, great. And their sambhar has always been good consistency, good taste, between New York and here. Lots of more photos and details on my blogs. Luckily I was introduced to this place by a friend and it has been my regular curry place for the four years I have been in Hong Kong. If you are new to this place, the best thing to do is when you walk up to the entrance to Chungking and just say Taj Mahal. Their rep will then lead you to the right elevators and will usually give you a VIP card (if they don't then ask as it will give you 10% discount). If the lift takes forever, you can take the stairs as it is only on the third floor. Right, on to the food! You will be seated and given some popadoms to munch on while you look at the menu. There are so many options! If you aren't sure what to order then they can give you recommendations. Personally I love the Chicken Tikka Makhani and the Chicken Korma as I need a milder curry. Their samosas are brilliant and the tikka meat platter is delish! If you are with a group then they can also do a few deals for you with mixed curries, rice, naan, etc for a really good price. The family that runs it are super friendly and if you go a few times they will remember you. Also, order Mango Lassi! They are the best!!

The butter chicken was thick and had a very good taste for the first couple of bites before becoming salty. It was this saltiness that originally made me rate the restaurant as a 3; this and the lack of banana flavor in the banana lassi. I bumped it up to a 4 when the waiter explained the excess seasoning. He stated that the additional seasoning is to compliment the lack of seasoning of the rice, of which I did not order.

That being said, my friends and I went to Tulsi after purchasing a deal on Groupon for it, and it was pretty good, if I say so myself! Located a stone's throw from North Point MTR exit B3, Tulsi is by no means a big and fancy restaurant. It's not much - it's a small little thing, no more than fifteen tables or so, but the food is stellar. The restaurant itself is owned by Indians and the waiters are all Indian too, so you know you're getting all the right information if you have any questions about your dish. As part of the Groupon deal, we got a couple of appetizers to start. Our favorites were the fried oysters, which even my ew-I-don't-eat-oysters friends liked, and the king prawns - nice and juicy. The chicken skewers on the other hand were a little dry and not very tender. And then came the curry! There were three different types - the vegetable curry, beef and chicken curry. If I'm not wrong, it was the vegetable curry that was the least spicy of them all. There was free flow naan and papadum to go with the curries - yum! There was both black truffle naan and regular naan, and I actually preferred the regular one, as with the other one the black truffle kind of interfered with the taste of the curry. Both types of naan were served piping hot, and they're really soft and doughy. Their papadum is great too, crispy and with just the right amount of spice! We didn't really like the dessert though - the Indian pudding called phirni. It didn't look or taste very good, and had a very watery consistency for a pudding. We all loved the hot masala tea - this was free flow too and I reckon I must have drank three or four of it! I would recommend checking out Tulsi if you're on the hunt for a nice Indian restaurant, or if you're just a fan of Indian food. Service is great and so's the food - what's not to love?

Very high cost I would expect double the food for the price I paid. For the food I would give 4 1/2 stars but it is over priced. Yes I definitely recommend it, if your in Hong Kong tired of McDonald's, Bakeries and Noodles this is an excellent change up but be prepared to feel like you paid too much.
