This nursery has so much to offer. It has rare house plants, Special clumping bamboo and other unique trees/plants that other stores will not have. I highly recommend looking around because it has a beautiful set up. Very zen. You can tell they put a lot of effort into this place. 1000/10 will come again read more

I learned about Mostardi's almost 20 years ago because they would send coupons to me in the mail addressed to someone who used to live in my house a decade before I got there, and so I checked the place out. I don't get there often as I don't live right nearby, and as some may note, it is not the cheapest nursery to shop at. But the cost factor drops when one experiences what is likely the very best service one can get at a nursery in the Main Line/Delco area. I have been to Mostardi's twice in the past week, and each visit I experienced the same kind, very proactive and attentive service from every person I encountered that worked there. Even at the cash registers people are helpful with questions and patient, and in today's visit, I got design advice about laying out my plants purchased in the intended pot I had for them from a clerk who also does potted plant design for Mostardi's. The nursery is beautifully well-kept and importantly, the plants are vibrant and well-tended; you don't get distressed plants from this place. I found also that the types of annuals I purchased were priced competitively with some of the Lancaster County nurseries I go to often. Mostardi's, much like a locally owned hardware store, reminds people why going to Lowe's or a similar business for plants, while convenient, is not necessarily the best deal and certainly cannot offer the same quality of plants or service. read more

I have purchased all of my plants and trees from Mostardis! Its AJ or Jc that helped me pick over 25 trees for my property and made it a wonderful experience. I really enjoy the seasonAl selections and the chickens roaming the grounds there. Great local nursery. Wonderful and kind people. read more

Terrific selection and knowledgeable, helpful staff! More expensive than big box stores, but well worth it!

Quality VS PRICE POINT Employees might not be helpful. Indoor plants aren't a good value. They die ! read more

This is a great plant nursery in Newtown Square. They have a large selection of indoor and outdoor plants. The prices are a bit steep, but you know what folks say...you get what you pay for. The plants are well taken care of and good quality. I was looking for indoor plants on a particularly drizzly Fall afternoon in 2020, so my exploration of the outdoor space was limited. Indoors, they have all sorts of decorative and clay pots as well as soils, plant food, fertilizers, and garden tools. I bought a couple succulents, 1 croton, 2 pots, and 1 bag of succulent soil all for $50. The staff was super duper helpful and friendly. They even have an elusive FLUFFY gray kitty. I didn't see it but realized after quite a while kitty had been right under my nose as I admired plants on a shelf. When shopping at any nursery, be sure to look over your plant selections carefully. I discovered on a sunny morning a few days later that the croton was covered in spider mites and webs. This is my fault for not checking closely by wielding ye olde flashlight while at the nursery. So far, neem oil seems to have taken care of them, and the croton looks great and less distressed. I quarantine all new plants, so that has saved my other plant babies. Speaking of quarantine. Covid-era-related: The indoor space has good air flow, and it's easy to stay 6-ish feet from others...as long as you all don't want the same plants at the same time. read more

Mostardi Nursery - October 2020 - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Newtown Square, Pennsylvania

We needed a set of perennial plants for a shaded part of our yard. We received wonderful advice from the gardening staff there -- not only for selecting the ones that best suit the space, but also for advice on caring for them. We have planted them and they look fabulous! Thanks for your assistance!!! read more

Great service and timely plant options as well as a great variety of other gardening needs. Why not 5 stars? To me, prices are a little high. read more

I used to like this nursery and they have a good selection... However, I think they have gotten quite greedy in 2024 which I would consider price gouging. They no longer offer hardly any six packs which save people money. Every common annual was only offered as a single plant and was 7.99 this year...and they even stopped offering the slight discount you would get by buying a certain number of plants. read more

I used to work in a nursery and in landscaping, so I am discerning when it comes to the nursery that I shop at. I have been to a number of establishments in the area, from big box stores to little mom & pop outfits, but none have quite fit the bill for what I was looking for, until I tried Mostardi. This is truly the best nursery I have been to in Delco. First, they have an enormous selection of annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs, and herbs. If you walk all the way back to where the fruit trees are located, you will be surprised at the size of Mostardi - it certainly doesn't look so big from West Chester Pike. On top of the incredible selection, their customer service is stellar. I spoke with four different staff members, and each was not only friendly and knowledgeable, they were also extremely generous with their time. More than once, I tried to break off the conversation because I was afraid I was using too much of their time, but they stopped me and made sure every question I had on plants and lawn issues was answered in detail. If there was a question that any of them did not have an answer to, they did not hesitate to reach out to their colleagues for more information. As a former landscaper and nursery employee, I cannot recommend Mostardi enough. The only drawback to this nursery is their prices - but remember that you are paying for healthy, high quality plants as well as incredible advice and service. Kudos. read more

Been coming here for several years, normally have a wonderful experience. This year - literally every single plant I've purchased (and they are not inexpensive as nurseries go) came with or quickly developed bacterial / fungal issues. We're talking 15+ plants. All planted in new containers with new soil and with new gardening tools. So it's not on my side. Just the annuals. The perennials (so far) are all fine. But between the cost of the plants, and now the cost of the mitigation chemicals - I won't be buying any more annuals there this year. read more

5/13/2012 Stopped in on the way to an early dinner, late lunch with moms for mothers day. Parking can be a hassel especially on the weekends.. good luck.. might aswell go park on the open field somewhere and start walking I don't have the patience in shopping for flowers or plants... i just like to go in mind is set on what i want.. or idea.. throw down the cash and out like shout... Now when i have my wife with me its a whole different story.. she takes her time, walks up and down each isle looking at each plant, herb, tree, what ever else mother nature gave birth too.. This nursery she loved.. i tried hinting about the reservations that were made down the road ... lets pick up the pace and go.... Ok bad move yelpers... She looked at me like she wanted to hit me with a bag of mulch. It looks like we will be stopping here again because she started writting down trees, and rose bushes along with god know what else for our house. friendly staff, plenty of equiptment to use when getting your plant(s).. very spacious... other than the parking that can be a nightmare solid 4 read more

If this part of the western suburbs is within striking distance for you, give these folks a visit. Unlike some nurseries they are open all year. Also unlike some nurseries the greenhouses where they grow many of their plants are onsite. As a homeowner I appreciate great plants and shrubs and these folks provide them with competitive prices. The lovely wife looks at them at a whole different level. She is a Master Gardner and also gives them a thumbs up! read more

Good selection, including some hard to find items like dwarf crape myrtle shrubs. They were having a big sale when we went with 50% off in some cases. Ow, ow, quit twisting my arm, OK, I'll buy more plants! Plants were in good condition and the staff was super friendly without being aggressive. Butterflies were abundant. Good signage for plant descriptions and thoughtfully laid out with shoppers in mind (i.e., here's a table where you can leave the items you wish to purchase while you continue to shop). read more

Mostardi Nursery - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Newtown Square, Pennsylvania

Two trees that were planted where our house was built in 1926, died over the winter. We hoped to replace a three stemmed birch tree with something similar and headed out to several nurseries -first time in a retail store since the pandemic started. Mostardi's had the precise tree we wanted, and A.J. talked us through how to plant it, and amend the soil to ensure it would thrive. He was knowledgeable, kind and professional. Margerie rang us up, including the fertilizer recommended to punch up the soil, she was sweet, and made quick work of the transaction, and then had a young guy, whose name we didn't catch, meet us at the car with the fertilizer bags. He was funny and kind as well. Great products, great knowledge and great customer service. Do their plants cost a little more? Yes, but they are high quality and the service can't be beat. read more

Very friendly and helpful staff! They let you roam and gawk without bothering you but are also very easy to approach and ask questions. Went there with my friend to get some snake plants. All the plants look magnificent and healthy. Bonus, there are cats and chickens! read more

WOW! Super friendly and knowledgeable staffs, great varieties, and their plants look so happy here. Walked in to look for an Orangeola Japanese Maple, came out with a very beautiful shrub, a big pot, organic soil bag, 3 free perennials and 20% off. Everything was loaded in my car with care. We are super happy customers and will be back. There prices are about 10-15% more expensive than Lowes / Home Depot but , the quality of their plants and services were definitely worth it!! read more

My first visit. Beautiful plants with many that you don't find in other nurseries and all kept very healthy. Staff practiced good social distancing and wore masks as was expected of customers as well. Will definitely be back for fall planting. read more

A good friend of mine recommended this place to me and even though it was 30 minutes outside of Center City, I ventured out based on his superb review (in addition to the yelp reviews). The place looked very promising as I pulled into the parking lot. As I had expected...yes, there was a huge selection and yes, the plants were in good condition. The one thing that threw me off was the lack of customer service. After waiving down a gentleman and asking for help, I was abruptly cut off and told that someone else would assist me. The woman he sent over was equally abrupt. After I explained what I was looking for, she quickly pointed out a small row of plants and said that was all she could do for me and proceeded to walk away. Ok, I get it...sometimes you are busy and unintentionally come off a bit short. Keep in mind, however, that I went at 9am when they had just opened. I was only 1 of about 3 customers at the time. I'm not sure if it was just an isolated incident or what, but I was definitely put off by the lack of customer service. Still, they had a wonderful selection and the prices are reasonable. It's probably well worth it if you live close to the area. Hopefully you will have a better experience than I did. read more

Mostardi's is a local garden center/nursery with a great set of people working the counter and helping out. This is not necessarily the place to come and pay the lowest prices, this is the place to come to to support your local Nursery. They do have some wonderful sales and also offer some coupons via mailings. Some great ferns, cacti, succulents in the back greenhouses. I always like to visit here when I'm in the neighborhood just in case I can find a new plant for my home. read more

I live in a high-rise in Philadelphia and came here for fiddle leaf fig. Found beautiful one with help of friendly, knowledgeable staff. Plant was wrapped carefully and loaded in car. Bought several other plants from their varied and healthy selection. Deb helped me and when I returned for another fig she helped me again, taking time to give me info about caring for plants I bought. Prices are very fair. Bought a majesty fern at Ikea and lucked out but their fig leafs were disappointing and nobody to ask questions of. If I ever have a garden again, this will be my destination. read more

Deb, AJ and the folks at Mostardis are the. BEST ~ from the moment you walk onto the premises you are well looked after and are left to browse without being bothered and yet -- there is always someone close by to assist you with finding just the right plant for your needs and to answer your questions. It is one of the few nurseries that keep a robust selection of plants, shrubs and trees for most of the year. I was gobsmacked at the breath of offerings at the end of summer, when most nurseries are bare. The staff is helpful and most importantly, knowledgeable, of what they sell. You will not find a nursery that offers such a wide variety of fauna at such reasonable prices. If you don't live close to Mostardi's, and I don't, it is well worth the trip, just have plenty of storage space in your vehicle for your purchases. You WILL need it. read more

Great selection of both indoor and outdoor plants. A little higher priced than some other places but I found plants there that nobody else had. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wow - moved here 2 years ago and have been using this nursery since exclusively. Everyone is so nice when we spend HUNDREDS of dollars but today we brought 1 rose bush back that died within the first few weeks to a month. (They have a warranty on all of their plants so we didn't think it was that big of a deal and all of the plants that we've purchased have thrived). So we bring the obviously dead plant to the front desk and ask the associate how to access the warranty. I think I saw the associates name as Denise. Denise was at best (and I'm being nice) immediately dismissive. She told my husband that the plant "didn't look dead" and that the nursery manager could look at it to see if there was something he could do. The nursery manager possibly the owner was just as rude as Denise. He didn't help us or offer advise. He took one look at the plant and rudely said, "get another one and hopefully you'll do better" and WALKED away!!!!! So my husband and I dumbfounded stood there for a minute and decided to look for the roses ourselves. Luckily we saw Matt another associate and asked for his help. Matt was very helpful and knowledgeable which is the only reason this place even deserves a 1. We picked our new rose bush (Matt told us all the roses were the same price) and brought it back to our dear old friend Denise. She threw away the dead bush and rung up our new one with a miserable look on her face. For some reason we owed money. Not sure I understand warranties to work this way but ok humor me. Apparently the bushes aren't all the same and this one was $5 more. No big deal, we'll pay it. But then she didn't take the 20% off that we got off the original bush. She couldn't honor the difference, explain why, or get someone to help. When we questioned this and said we would never be back to this establishment she sarcastically said "I'm sorry you feel that way." We were so disheartened by the experience we paid the difference and left. On the way out my husband saw Matt who had witnessed the event and he apologized for Denise's behavior. We clearly won't be back to this nursery (and all our neighbors who love our landscaping and inquire about where we got it from will be advised not to come here)! Go to Taddeo's in Havertown - they're much nicer and helpful! read more

As an apartment / office dweller, I came in searching of easy-care and low-light house plants. All but one of my box-full of plants are thriving months later. Everything is clearly labeled with plant name and care instructions (expect for the one plant that's not doing so well... It was labeled as a "fern assortment", I still haven't figured out just what kind of fern it is, which is unfortunate as it turned out to be quite fussy). All in all, seem like a reputable seller with quality plants, and I appreciate that they make the effort in labeling to set us up for success. read more

The plants, while beautiful, are very expensive. The main problem, however, was the service. The staff was rude and unhelpful. They tried to wrap it in a paper trash bag! Try one of their workshops! We shop at Mostardis several times a year. They are pricier than big box stores, but they have a better variety; quality; and knowledgeable staff.
