FDC and I were out and about, running errands and such. Hey, I said. Heard some good things about…read moreNana's Attic. How about we check it out? Sure! In we go. It's.a lovely moderately sized store tucked into one of the strip mall buildings, near the State Store and the Indoor Pool school. Yes, there's an indoor pool in one of the stores. It's a swim school or something. But I digress... Everything was laid out very nicely, they have many things to buy, but not so much that you're overwhelmed. We learned that there are two kinds of stock: CONSIGNMENT items have a larger yellow tag. DONATED items have a small bright orange/red tag. They tend to keep the consigned items more towards the front of the store, also. So if you see an item and you think, wow, that's kinda high...check the tag. Chances are it's a consigned item. We browsed about and found some lovely things - FDC bought a gorgeous Italian Pottery vase and I got some very cool drinking glasses that just happen to match some shot glasses that I gave Lion a couple years ago. Score! On subsequent trips I have found an awesome set of mid-century bamboo plates for picnics (LOVE THESE!) and other fun stuff too. The staff are completely lovely people, the store is clean, well lit and well organized. Proceeds benefit survivors of domestic violence - they have a shelter for victims and also fund programs. Parking is super easy (pro tip - avoid the crowds, small parking lot behind the Barnes & Noble easy in/easy out!). Heck, yeah, I'll be back. It's a great little store supporting a very needed service in our area.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Tons of cool items to choose from. I saw a ton of nice men's suits from Jos A banks. I'm sure someone will pick them up asap. Plenty of housewares, furniture, shoes and clothes to choose from I'll definitely be back

Visited: Monday - January 6, 2014 - 11:00 AM…read more Are you looking for "stuff"? Inexpensive stuff? Not necessarily poorly made stuff. You know...stuff? Well, perhaps this is the store. The store is packed with furniture, dry foods, kitchen and bathroom accessories, towels, linens, and wall art. I've purchased kitchen towels, bedroom sheets at reasonable costs. Believe it or not, my favorite purchases are coffee. Yes, coffee. The employees were busily taking inventory and replacing holiday products with traditional fare. Although they were consumed with their tasks, they cheerily provided room for me to peruse the coffee assortments. I chose a German ground coffee called Dallmayr Prodomo. I never heard of this brand but for $9.99 at 17.6 oz (500 mg), I was willing to try it. Several web users rate this brand 5 of 5 stars. I also chose ground Pumpkin Latte by the Grande Kaffe Collection of stateside Millville NJ. I've enjoyed this brew several times and at $5.00 for 16 oz, it's hard to ignore. Lastly, I purchased a 4 pack of kitchen towels for $5.99. Now that I bought some new stuff, fortunately I have a house for my new stuff. As the comedy legend George Carlin stated, and I'm paraphrasing, "you need a place for your stuff and that's why houses were created".

Not just me! Really poor attitude including workers who tried to figure out an unmarked sheet set. Finally did so and then left me standing at counter. Will return sheet sets and deal with Amazon.

FDC and I were in the area so we decided to check out the new digs. The shopping center it's located in is large and has ample free lot parking. The space is bright and open. What we noticed was a change - in the old location there were rows and rows of shelves, with dishes organized by pattern or color. If you were hoping to find a replacement for a broken plate in your pattern, or to add to your set, you could easily do that and chances were, they'd have your pattern even if it was passed down from your great grandmother, who brought it with her to the New World. In the new space there was thoughtful merchandising of items, displayed in settings with style groupings but not necessarily patterns. Saw some patterns scattered in different places, like Kings Crown Ruby Stained goblets. I get it, they compliment lots of styles. Finding 5 of them may involve hunting. The store is lovely and well displayed. We found inspiration and were charmed. It's still a great store, it's more though general shop for amazing dishes and such and less looking for an item in a pattern. In its former format, Dishfunctional filled a need no one else had. Now it's just shopping for cool stuff. We'll still visit, my dish loving heart weeps though for what was lost when some real estate developer decided what West Chester really needed was more "luxury condos" on a semi-industrial area. One other thing - they still have a robust eBay presence so if you are looking for a specific pattern or style, check there. Also Alfred has an encyclopedic knowledge, so ask him about what you are looking for - or if you want to know more about a gorgeous bowl- if he's there.
