Moses Fountain is beautiful, but the Moses Fountain Hotel around the corner in Rome, Italy was terrible. You can't even find the hotel, because it is just a wooden door on the side of a building practically unmarked. No person walking by had ever heard of the place. We arrived after 5, so had to pay an extra 20 euros, to wait outside in the dark and cold. When we finally found the place, there was a sign on the locked door that anyone arriving after 5 should place an international call for someone to come and meet us, but we didn't have international phone service. We had to keep asking people walking by if we could use their cell phones, we asked a police officer for help, and then someone kindly called. After all that, we had to wait a half an hour for someone to show. The hotel itself was near the train station, but that was the ONLY positive! The bed was broken, the lights didn't work, and the shower had no cold water, so we had to run the scalding hot water until it ran out of hot water and turned cold before we could safely use it, which was a complete waste of water and resources. The door knobs were jammed too. When we asked the manager to reconsider the 20 euro fee given our wait time outside and difficulties, she became furious and said it was our fault for not having a better phone service. She was angry and wouldn't listen, not even to hear something that could assist her in avoiding these issues for other guests. This place was not worth the trouble. read more
