This hotel is an oasis in the hustle and bustle of Rome. It is located short walk from the Spanish Steps, and is surrounded by a plethora of upscale shops and dining options. The hotel may be sophisticated, but it is not at all stuffy. Every member of the staff was warm, welcoming and gracious. The quintessential Italian hospitality starts the minute you arrive. We had room 501, which is a two room suite overlooking the back garden wall and outdoor dining area. There was a beautiful balcony off of the bedroom that had a quaint round table that seated four, and an accompanying umbrella. It was the perfect spot to enjoy room service or just sit and read. The view from the balcony was of the back garden wall and the patio dining below. Everything was tastefully decorated, and impeccably cleaned. The mattresses, linens, and pillows are all exceedingly comfortable. The rooms are very quiet. We did not hear any noise from the outside or the hallway. Our meals here were all excellent. While Rome has myriad dining options, it is nice to not have to leave the hotel after a long day on foot. We preferred to have our meals outside or in our rooms because we wanted to be careful since we needed a negative Covid test to get home. All of our meals had generous portions and zero leftovers. We wanted to savor every bite. In particular, I want to give a shout out to the individual who created the Bloody Mary. I will pine for this drink. I beg of you, please give me the recipe. In summary, this is an excellent spot to call home while you are in Rome. We are so thankful to have found it and hope to return soon. read more

What makes it so special is not just the gorgeous garden and grounds it occupies in the middle of the bustling city near fantastic shops, nor is it the immaculate rooms and fine dining (although it does have all of this too!). It is the staff. They are all so exceptional, friendly and professional; especially the concierge staff! Alessandra Cozzo is a shining star among this group of extraordinary employees. She definitely knows the city, the restaurants, and has a magical way of getting you reservations when there are none to be had. She is also so warm and charming you will want to continue talking with her even when your business is done. We have always had a wonderful experience. Yesterday though we went to have lunch at the courtyard and was rudely turned away because we were not staying there. The hostess said everything was booked and saved for hotel guests only. There were plenty unoccupied tables. When we asked if we could make a reservation for another day she promptly said NO we are completely booked. I don't think I would ever go back. The only reason we didn't stay there was they would not accommodate having children in our room. read more

Couldn't have been happier. Our server at dinner was mortified when I reached over to pour my wife a glass of wine, a perfectly normal thing for me to do. The staff is there to make your stay awesome. The location is also unbelievable, a stones throw from pretty much anywhere you want to be. ROOMS: perfectly appointed, beautifully maintained, discreet service BREAKFAST: Some of the best variety I have ever seen, from smoked salmon to lovely croissants. Beautiful venue, go here at least for a drink to see the grounds. Truly remarkable! We opted for gnocchi, ravioli, and pork. And of course wine! The service is spectacular, and they offer lots of suggestions for first timers to Italy (us haha!). It's also a really great choice for date night! Afterwards, they showed us by map a great walking tour of Rome, which was how we ended up seeing most sights on our trip. It's not as fancy as you would think, so don't shy away from eating here if you didn't pack dress shoes. There were two cats Mona And Lisa who walked around very cute and fun to pet while your waiting for food. Ravioli was perfectly balanced with cheese. Public areas are lovely but rooms leave much to be desired with horrible TV reception, due to 16 year old tv's and no HD and limited stall showers even when spending over 1000 euros for a room. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service! Stay elsewhere in Rome! We stayed at 5 different 5-star resorts on our recent trip to Italy, and this Hotel was our only disappointing experience - and a major one at that. Not only was the room below average for the hefty nightly rate ($1,200/night), but the Hotel itself is not particularly well-located in Rome (on the outskirts; 30-45 minutes walk from many major attractions) and offers very few amenities. The biggest disappointment, however, was the poor customer service and the very unreasonable and unaccommodating Hotel management and reservation staff. In short, the Hotel charged us for 3 nights' stay, though we notified them weeks in advance that we only wanted to stay 2 nights, and they have refused to fully or partially refund the $1200 charge for the additional night in the room that we did not stay in (and that they could have, and probably did, sell to another customer). To give a little more background: We booked the Hotel through Booking.com with the promise of free cancellation. After we booked, we realized that an error had been made regarding our dates of stay; the booking was made for 3 nights, instead of 2. We contacted Booking.com as soon as we realized the error to modify the reservation and were advised to contact the Hotel directly. We did contact the Hotel a few weeks before our trip to notify them that we only planned to stay for 2 nights, not 3 - and to request that we only be charged for 2 nights, not 3. The Hotel told us that we needed to contact Booking.com (which we had already done), or that we could address the issue with management upon arrival. Upon arrival, we notified the check-in staff that the dates were in error and asked them to modify the reservation and not to charge us for the third night. We were told that we needed to contact Booking.com (again) and that the Hotel could do nothing to assist (which is never the right answer in a customer service industry and particularly not for a 5-star Hotel!). The Hotel then modified our reservation to 2 nights but took and charged our credit card for 3 nights' stay! I have contacted the Hotel reservation manager several times now to request a refund for the third night (that we did not stay at the Hotel), or some other reasonable accommodation, and I have not even received a response. Booking.com has also attempted to contact the Hotel on our behalf and the Hotel has refused to issue any refund or to make any other accommodation. There are far nicer hotels in Rome for 5-star rates! In particular, I would highly recommend JK Place Roma, where we ended up staying on the final night of our trip before we headed back to the airport. Very well-located. Superior rooms, with very comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Beautifully decorated. Excellent customer service. And our nightly was literally HALF the cost of the room at the Hotel de Russie. I will be staying at JK Place Roma in the future when I visit Rome - and I highly recommend that others do, too! Avoid the Hotel de Russie! read more
