Mo's is my favorite pizza! They also have a great muffuletta. Every time I find myself in or near Westwego, I try to make a visit to Mo's!

Best pizza around. Worth stopping in, even if it's out of your way. Great place to bring kids, super family friendly. I always get treated well here, and always feel welcomed. Huge slices for your $ - if they get your order correct. We ordered 1 pizza. One half sliced meatballs, the other half black olives & Italian sausage. Drove 25mins to pick it up. My fiancé apparently didn't check the pizza well enough before leaving, bc when he got home we had full sliced meatballs, half black olives & NO Italian sausage. $22 & I do not like these meatballs. This is the best food that I've eaten around this area hands down. Homemade crust that is a wonderful combination of crunch and chew, and generous toppings and portions. We each had one slice (it's actually two slices) of the supreme pizza and we split an order of mozzarella sticks between two people. We still have a half of a slice left and are both full. The mozzarella sticks were average, like what you'd find at any fast food restaurant serving them, so wouldn't get them again. read more

What happened to this place? I got 2 large supreme and a large pepperoni today and it was mediocre at best. The pizza dough was tough and the sauce salty. Very disappointed today. One of my go to spots for when I'm looking for something different than delivery pizza. You are probably already going to pay about $20 for a delivery pizza including tax, delivery fee, and tip. So why not just drive to Mo's instead and get a MUCH better and more delicious pizza? They use quality ingredients and you can taste it. This magical once-weekly special a former employee waxed poetically about before I jumped in the car to head over there. I girded my arteries with hypertension meds to waddle in carbolicious wonder. I took two bites and boxed it up. As I gnawed on my pre-made deli salad, I thought, "Hey, my Mama likes sweet sauce. She'll eat it!" My dining dollars won't go to waste. The next day, I stopped by to see her. She said,"How far did you travel to find the world's worst lasagna? Where's the ricotta? Even cottage cheese?! AND THAT SAUCE!" You can see where this is going. Alas, the pizza here is huge, but it does not impress. I had a slice of cheese and a slice of peperoni. It took all of my strength to finish those (4 pieces). Now you say, "Larissa you ordered two slices?" No my friends it comes out as twice as much. I didn't really care for the sweet sauce, and the crust is in limbo. As some of my dinner companions pointed out the mushrooms taste like they were canned. In terms of decor Mo's is cool. I liked seeing the big families together enjoying some pizza, and all the kids seemed psyched to be there. Also, for large groups it's awesome because it's pay at the counter/find a seat kinda place, so splitting the check is not an issue. Had a family dinner at Mo's tonight. It was super crowded and loud - just the atmosphere you expect, and love, at Mo's. We were lucky enough to get one of the large tables that seat about 10 people. The pizza was great, as always. My only complaint is the same complaint that I've had for the past 2 years since first trying Mo's Pizza - WHY must you use canned mushrooms??? Even the major pizza chains use fresh mushrooms. It really can't take that much more effort to slice them. Luckily, Mo's has many other quality toppings, so I can do without them completely. If they ever start using fresh mushrooms, I may consider doing an update with 5 stars though. read more

I had spaghetti & meatballs from Mo's today and it was pretty damn good! A lot of food for my $7 too! Like I said in my earlier review if you don't like your red sauce (or red gravy as they say around here) "sweet" you might not like Mo's. Never had a heard a red sauce described as "too sweet" but, I know a couple people that don't like Mo's because of it. I see what they mean about sweet but it sure wouldn't keep me away. I think they have actually spruced the place up on the inside...not that anyone going there really cares about the decor...new table covers, flat screen TVs, stuff all over the walls and I think they painted too. Don't fear I think your shrimp boots will still be fine. If you're on the Westbank and looking for some good food, cheap, try Mo's! read more

Ok so I'm BEYOND disappointed. After reading review after review after review praising this place as an absolute institution, I just had to have some. My wife and i decided to give it a shot and ordered a large with pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and ham. How could you go wrong, right? We expected a sublime experience based on the numerous positive reviews. What we got was a huge letdown. The crust absolutely sucks! Its way too thick and and almost like cardboard. With slices so huge, it'd be nice to fold them, but the crust makes this impossible. The sauce is light and sweeter than I'm accustomed to but it wasn't the worst part of the pie. The meats somehow were under-seasoned and the cheese wasn't fresh at all. We were stuck with a near flavor-less pizza that was difficult to even maneuver, making it uncomfortable to eat. After feeding the entire family, we now have over half the pizza left and we're throwing it away. I was so looking forward to boosting this place, but unfortunately I highly disagree with the majority of the other comments. Don't do it! read more

I came here with a group of people (and by people I mean all women that I work with) during one of my random and irregular Wank workdays. This place is located in a giant metal building which doesn't generally excite my taste buds and makes me think I'm going to a tractor auction or roller rink. The inside is a cafeteria line type set up that is very much like a super sized mall food court set up. The portion sizes here are very large which is a plus but the flavor/quality of the food seemed to be about on par with a Sbarro's in a mall somewhere. I had the lasagna and a couple of slices of different pizzas (because people/women never finish their food so I got extra). The food was ok but it just really gave me 1980's mall flashbacks and I started looking around for valley girls. If I'm trapped on the Wank around this area and need some cheap huge portions this might be the place to go but it is low down on my list of preferred pizza and lasagna joints (does anybody know where I can get some parachute pants?). read more

Go for the food and stay for the people. Look this is not upscale yuppy pizza. This is Westbank go big or go home pizza. The pie's are big and the sauce is sweet. The Pizza is just what you pull in for but the spaghetti, lasagna and subs are awesome. The meatball sub with cheese dressed is dynamite. Make sure you say hi to folks. Yes,this place is way out in Westwego. But the life of a salesman brings me all over the place. I like Mo's. The slices are huge. The Pizza crust is a little thicker than some places like Slice and the sauce is a little sweeter than most. But overall I like Mo's. Come on, pizza is like sex. In the end, even if it's not the greatest you ever had, it's still PIZZA. I live very near here and as a longtime westbanker, I've been a Mo's regular since high school. My favorites are the sloppy roast beef poboys on Fridays, the lasagne is amazing and the muffelata pizza is a life changing experience. Just be aware they are CLOSED ON SUNDAY. Call ahead take out orders are the best way to go. The restaurant gets crowded FAST and is always busy. Lots of teenagers and large groups, it's always loud as well, so be warned. The garlic bread is viscously garlic, to the point that it can hurt your tongue, so beware if you aren't a garlic person. And yes, the marinara IS SWEET, but my husband's grandmother is true Italian and it tastes just like hers. I hate it any other way now. They make the lemonade and tea fresh on the spot. Get an Arnold Palmer (half tea, half lemonade) you'll thank me. The pizzas come in two sizes. Huge and massive. A Mo's small will feed my husband and I for four meals. A large is enough to feed four to six hungry teenage boys. Trust me, my brother and his friends can barely finish one, and they are bottomless pits. If you aren't in the mood for traditional pizza, a sausage roll with a bottle of root beer or a big shot grape from the Big Shot machine outside will hit the spot. The turnovers aren't to shabby either. I also love the Italian salad with the in house vinaigrette. Actually I've never had anything from Mo's I didn't like. And it's cheap. My son and I came to NOLA for the WW2 Museum for a few days. He wanted pizza for our last night's dinner. 2 people that we met on our trip here suggested Mo's Pizza. I called 4 or 5 times to ask if they have dine in and if they were even open. The number was either busy or they didnt answer. So, we drove 15 minutes to get to their store. When we got there, there were at least 5 people working there and I was told they do carry out. When I told the girl I called a bunch of times earlier, she said "we're busy, thats normal and sometimes our line is out the door". Obviously, people in this area are desperate for any pizza. It turns out I shouldn't have said anything ... So, 20 minutes they said for a large pizza. I ordered 2 sodas, a garlic bread and the pizza. The skinny young blonde girl behind the counter said they will bring it out to our car when ready. Ok, sure. After 40 minutes I walked in to their store and the girl had the nerve to ask me if I ordered yet. I held up my receipt and said "You told me 20 minutes for the pizza and I have been in your parking lot for 40!" Oh, well, a few of the employees looked around like someone just said a curse word. A guy in the back said "whats your receipt number" and a girl asked what kind of pie. I said half plain and half pepperoni. Turns out it was sitting on their counter with the garlic bread on top. I took it and walked out reminding them that they cannot answer the phone AND apparently cannot bring food outside. As for the food, the garlic bread had barely any butter on it and I couldnt taste any garlic. That was a waste of money. As to the pizza, it is too thick and by the time we got back to the hotel downtown, it was half warm. So, I know I'll never go back to Mo's. I suggest no one else do either. This is now our go to pizza place for stay in and be lazy nights. Costs a little more than the fast food pizza but boy is it worth every penny. Ate here for lunch today...we got there around 11 AM and there were already a few people there, but they started to get a pretty good lunch crowd by the time we left. They had huge pizzas by the slice--one pepperoni and one white with chicken and spinach, that I saw--but I got a supreme "turnover" (calzone). Normally I don't like supreme or all meat items because of the Italian sausage, but this calzone was very good. The meats inside were great and looked more authentic and homemade that your typical pizza place sausage and pepperoni. The onions and green peppers were also obviously freshly sliced and had great flavor. They're quick with service and for a pretty large calzone and drink it was 9.75--not horrible. The Dr.Pepper I got out of the fountain on my way out tasted a little funky--we decided it had a vanilla aftertaste so that was kinda weird, but they do have good crushed ice. Also, they have a good amount of seating--we had a group of ten seated comfortably and there were plenty of tables left for the rest of the customers. Will definitely be visiting again to try a slice or sandwich if I'm in the area! read more

Fascinating social institution: imagine a place where every school sport game on the West Bank converges after the game to eat and you'll have Mo's. I almost felt out of place because I wasn't a kid, didn't have a kid, and wasn't a cop. If I'm rating this place just on food, it was pretty good. My boyfriend got the extra cheese which was entirely too much for me and turned the bread vessel into an oily slip and slide. Next time, I'll just get a regular pie and I'm sure it'll still be too much cheese. Together, a half extra cheese/pepperoni and a full meat lovers pie came out to $48. FORTY EIGHT DOLLARS for two pies of pizza! I don't know if New York prices are cheaper because it's such a commodity but I found that outrageous. Anyway, enough of this rant. Moe's Pizza is not New York Style. It is not brick oven style. Definitely not Chicago Style. So, I cannot describe the style of the pizza by the standard categories. What I can say is that the crust is on the thick side, with a very crispy bottom. If you like bread you will probably love it. It is great for supporting a lot of toppings. I generally get the supreme and it is covered in an assortment of meats, veggies, and mushrooms. It is fantastic. The cheese is excellent. It is overall delicious. The best part about Moe's is that they sell pizza by the slice. "By the slice" is a bit of an understatement, however, because the slice is huge and they cut it in two before they serve it. It's enough for two meals for me, but my husband eats both slices. Two slices and two drinks is under $15. They also have a few Italian dinners. I haven't tried them, but they are available. If you get a while pie, be aware, it is huge. It can easily feed a family. read more

You know you're in pizza heaven when you order two slices and the person taking your order says "do you know how big our slices are?" I assured her it was so I could take one home. The pizzas are huge, but amazing. The muffaletta is one of the best in the region.
