My wife and I are doing a pizza survey this summer just for fun. We decided to try a new pizza place every couple of weeks to see which ones were worth all the fuss. Il Supremo stands as tall as the rest and maybe the best although we have not finished our survey. This location has a lot of fond memories for me. When I first moved to Old Metairie in the 1980s, I often dined at Delerno's which served amazing food at this location for over 40 years. It was an old style neighborhood Creole Italian and Seafood restaurant, examples of which can still be found throughout the metro area although the numbers are declining. The owner reportedly was one of the first New Orleans restaurant owners to include crawfish on his menu including a Festival of Crawfish featuring what we would essentially call a crawfish platter, crawfish prepared different ways. You have to love a guy like that. I was so sad when it closed. Anyway, back to the pizza. Il Supremo makes pizza as delicious as any pizza I've had in New York or San Francisco. The crust is thin and crunchy with what appears to be a cornmeal dusting. The crust is baked to perfection, brown and crispy with a few, but not too many, burned areas- just the way I like it. The cheese is excellent as is the sauce which has a bit of a kick but not too much to be overpowering. And the amount of sauce is perfect, not too much for those who like it stingy, and enough for the red gravy lovers of the New Orleans. We ordered the Wooster which was pepperoni, roasted garlic, shallots, and basil. It was outstanding. The garlic and shallots were a perfect complement to the sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. The basil frankly looked great but was not very evident, if at all, in the overall flavor profile. Perhaps it would be were it added after baking. The space itself is decent with only a few tables but crowded and noisy even at 5:30 on a Friday afternoon. It shares space with Super Witch ice cream, so if you want dessert, you don't have to go far. I will definitely be back for more pizza from Il Supremo. NB The website is a little heavy handed and full of rules and caveats including that pickup orders have to be ordered 24 hours in advance. I ordered the morning of my pickup and had no problem. I have no idea why you would have to order 24 hours in advance. Regardless, that is the rule. I guess you could call and ask if you're too late to order but, of course, they have no phone. Such is life in the new millenium. If you called Delerno's, Mrs. Delerno would answer. read more

While the food was good, the service was frustratingly slow and disorganized. The staff could hand out pizzas quickly, but anything extra threw off their workflow, resulting in near missed items for multiple parties. They completely forgot our pasta, leaving us waiting 30 minutes while our pizza sat in the heating drawer--and they never called us up when it was ready. Being from Chicago, we've been pleasantly surprised by the decent pizza and pasta scene around Metairie and New Orleans, but will most likely not come back. I finally had the opportunity to try Il Supremo and they did not disappoint!!! Entering the restaurant you're met with the nostalgia of a cute retro pizza diner that is connected to Super Witch ice cream (will post and cover them later). Despite not placing an order ahead of time (highly recommended) our pizza came out 30 minutes earlier than expected! Service was great and pizza was delicious. Definitely recommend the experience at least once, but you'll for sure return to try everything else (get their pistachio basil ranch!!!) They also do specials and I pray they return with the Birria pizza so that I can try it!!! read more

Absolutely love this place. They really make some amazing pizza. Angry Nonna is my favorite! Inside is small. So if you're coming with a group, might want to do some pre-planning. They are very easy to work with via email or instagram. Ordering ahead is recommended. Online orders take priority. But if you've got the time, sit back, drink some wine, it's worth the wait. The pastas are also amazing! They're made fresh in shop every day. If you see a line out the door, don't be afraid! read more

We finally were able to give this place a try. Sadly their phone system and online system was not working so we ordered a pizza to go. I really wanted to love this places. The aroma emanating from our to go boxes was heavenly. Unfortunately their phone system garlic knots weren't very garlicky yet cheesy that was still fine. My actual pizza although I enjoyed the flavors I did not like the crust. It was tough and I have good teeth. It was such a tough crust for being thin I don't know if they overworked the crust or just overbooked. My experience wasn't enough to want to try again. read more

I pass this place up every time I leave my workout class and I've been meaning to try it forever. I saw the cheesy bread on Instagram last week and was determined to make my way asap! This may be a crazy statement but I think this genuinely may be my favorite pizza I've had in New Orleans. The only competitor that I can think that's close is forbidden pizza. We got the spicy Steve and it was delicious! I love anything with jalapeños and hot honey. The cheesy bread was overcooked which was sad but I could see the potential for sure. The whipped ricotta dipping sauce was so good. The alla vodka pasta was really good to me and I love that it comes with sausage because most restaurants will charge you extra to add protein. read more

Il Supremo has taken a top spot on my list of the best pizza in the city. The Spicy Steve is everything I enjoy on a pizza: the perfect balance of heat, an excellent crust with just the right texture, and fresh, high quality ingredients. I placed my order online before the shop opened, and it was ready about 15 minutes after they opened. The service was quick and efficient. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. read more

When I heard this place was visited by Dave Portnoy, I had to come try it. The first time I went, there was an hourish wait, but the second time I came on a week night and that seems to be the move. The pizzas are so crazy delicious. I would argue they're the best pizza New Orleans has to offer! The Roberta is a sweet and savory combo to perfection! I will say the price was a bit steep but for the size of these massive pizzas it's worth it. One thing to note is they have a weird process to call and place pick up orders, so maybe look into that before you do so. Will absolutely come again! read more

For us, this is the BEST pizza in town. We pick-up from here at least 3x/month. 9/10 we just go with the cheese but even that is sooo good. Good crust and simple but it just hits. Tried II Supremo for the first time. It's a nice quaint spot in old Metairie. I placed a to go order for a pepperoni pizza, Caesar salad, and two sprites. The pizza was good unfortunately it was ice cold when I ate it and I immediately went home. Caesar salad was good. Just need more dressing for the amount of lettuce. First visit: Pizza was sold out after the One Bite review hit the web so went with some garlic knots and pasta. I wouldn't say that I settled for it either because the flavors are off the charts and the pasta fresh and made in house. Second visit: Finally sunk my teeth into a cheese pizza and was it worth the wait. Try to pre-order online as early in the day as possible. They are working on getting another oven to increase production capacity so be patient. With the new publicity, they are firing on all cylinders and still putting out good, flavorful, quality food. I imagine with the new oven and more staff, they will be able to keep up with the demand. I love the retro style of the dining room with a small arcade for kids and kids-at-heart. And makes me wish I still lived down the street from this neighborhood pizza joint. Definitely will be back...this Saturday in fact. read more

I understand pizza is very subjective, but for me, I love it! Ordering by the slice was a tad drier, but we went weeks later and ordered a whole pizza, and it was lovely. It's not too thin- it's the best kind of thickness that holds its shape and doesn't flop around. It's crispy and folds perfectly for dipping into their AMAZING ranch. We've purchased 2 bottles and use it on everything at home because it's that good. The black miso ranch is top tier. The strawberry limoncello frozen slushy was excellent. I hope it stays this summer! The line can be long & move slowly, and it's pretty hard to nab a seat, but my husband and I always say those are indicators of great food. We have eaten in our car with a glass of their house wine, then gone back in for the ice cream. We've seen people eat on the curb & tailgate, too. It's kind of fun to see where we'll end up depending on how crowded it is. We are looking forward to trying more items, especially the pasta. Crunchy thin crust with the perfect about of sauce and cheese. Very northern east coast. It was delicious. We chose to create our own pie with pepperoni, sausage and hot honey. The sausage was very very good. The hot honey was more so honey rather than hot but still good nonetheless. Be sure to ask for their homemade ranch, jalapeño ranch or black garlic, miso sauce. They were all excellent choices! I ordered the morning of, via the website, as I heard that was the thing to do. I heard the counter person tell someone else 45 minutes for a fresh order. This place is a one stop shop for both pizza and ice cream, thanks to SuperWitch. Perfect date night - can't beat it! The only negative is that they have minimal seating so if you can take your pie to go, I suggest it. We waited about 5 minutes for a seat to open up. Was under the impression it was online ordering only, but they do have a small dine in area. They share the commercial space with another business, so it was very busy for a Saturday night. They also have frozen pizzas to go, and that might be a better option for me as I live in Harahan, and by the time I got home the pizza was cold. Would've requested the pizza undercooked so I could warm it in my oven, but they don't allow special notes on the Toast app. Overall the pizza was good (pepperoni and cheese with a side of hot honey). First of all we could hardly get through the door due to the massive amount of people lined up out the door! We then found out that the line was for ice cream not the pizza. So we had to squeeze our way through the people to get to the pizza counter. As far as the pizza goes, well I've definitely had better. It was a bit lacking, like dry, little sauce, little cheese and few toppings and it was extremely thin. And I normally like thin crust but this was almost too thin. Also the drink selection was not good unless you like beer. It's all bottled drinks and other than beer it was like 3 choices of cold soda. The pizza wasn't great. Honestly, the photos online look much better than what you get in person. The crust is paper-thin, and Domino's puts more pepperoni on their pizzas than this place does. There was barely any sauce, and the crust was way too chewy my jaw was actually sore after just two slices. On top of that, the pizza was cold, like it had been sitting out for a while, even though I picked it up immediately after getting the text that my order was ready. I did have a pizza that my son waited a l-o-n-g time for. It was very good however the wait was excessive to say the least. Today I tried to call to place an order but was directed to order on line since they weren't taking phone orders. I tried that but they weren't accepting orders that way either. I drove there only to find them closed even though their hours for the day were posted as open beginning at 4:40 pm. My experience was so-so. My friend and I had a date night set. It was my first time coming to the establishment. Atmosphere inside the place is amazing . Reminds me off an old school pizza joint from my childhood. We sit down and check out the menu . My plan was to get a pepperoni pizza and the pasta. Well little did I know that they ran out of dough on a saturday night. Was offered a frozen premade pizza instead. I changed my order to get the pasta and they did not have any change for my money . I was really sad because the food looked good and smelled amazing . We left empty handed and had to change plans to get Indian food from Shayans. All we got was a sorry we ran out of dough because of an news article. I understand rush in business because of good publicity, but at least make it right with your customers if you do not have what your offering.
