I have been going to Morton's Supermarket at least 4 or 5 times a week, this past twenty years. Yes, it is more expensive than the other Supermarkets - of which there are many a stone's-throw from here. Lidl, Ranelagh, is great for fresh and organic vegetables and fruit
A large part of my feeling of loyalty to this supermarket has been the staff. The Checkout Staff, in particular, the non-Irish ones. It is not for the service at the meat-counter. Nor the fish counter person - when and if he's around! (The Butcher shop in Upper Rathmines Road is better, a more pleasant experience in every way.
The Cafe, which has been built up by the lovely Polish woman, is still the nicest place around here for mid-morning coffee.
Gary Morton, the Boss, is the reason I will not be shopping there from now on. He can be astonishingly rude - not the pleasant person I used to think he was.
