    Tradewinds Spas

    Tradewinds Spas

Purchased my first hot tub from here. I did a lot of searching around since a hot tub is a "large"…read more(expensive) purchase. Tradewind's carries the Caldera brand which I knew nothing about when I started. I decided not to pay attention to brand since everyone has something to say about each specific brand online. I was looking at price (of course!), what was included with the purchase (delivery, free chemicals, etc.), and the quality of what they carried from my perspective. Caldera spas are made in Mexico and seem to be a well-made product. There were several spas manufactured in the US that I had hoped to support, but found them to be less than superior in my price range. For instance, I paid attention to what the sides of the tubs were made of--they all are made of some sort of composite material these days (you can still get cedar or other woods). I simply pushed on the sides--if it bowed or moved in any way I became concerned. One of the big reasons I ended up at Tradewinds is because when I push on the side of the spa--IT DOESNT MOVE! This seems to me how it should be? You shouldn't be able to compress the sides and have them flex. Anyway, that was just me. They also had the best prices by far--now I am very fair--they were the only place I found Caldera spas so I can't compare if they were fairly priced for just the Caldera line but for whatever reason, other spa brands were hundreds, in some cases thousands more for the same thing (size, jets, etc.). The other places I went to carried Hot Springs, Lazy-Boy, Master Spas, and Hydropool. Ironically, some of these were thousands of dollars more, but I found them to not be as high in quality. Now again, to be fair--of course some of them were a much better/higher model then the one I purchased, but of course were thousands more. Of the ones that were comparable to the model I purchased from Tradewinds, Tradewinds just had the edge. I liked Tradewinds for several reasons. First, the sales people were not pushy. They seemed to know it is a big purchase and let you actually leave without hounding you. I came back literally 5 times with questions. Now to be fair again, I could certainly tell they worked for commission as they made a point of making sure you came back to see them and not someone different, but that is pretty standard. The important thing to me is that they didn't try to "force" my purchase in any way. Second, the quality of the brand they carried in relation to the price--they had the best price for what I was looking for. Third, their out-the-door price included the spa, delivery & installation, about 1 months' worth of start-up chemicals, and also included the electrical box (sub panel) which no one I looked at did except them. So basically you put a small amount down and they hand you the panel box so you can start having the electrical prepared. For whatever reason, Tradewinds and all the others did not provide an electrician at all--they could provide you the names of some, but chose not to include this, or even charge an extra amount and have their staff perform it. I found that odd but there must be a reason since none of them did it. Overall, I am happy with the purchase and everyone was pleasant to work with. One complaint I have is that, even though you spend 6-15 thousand dollars, you don't get a courtesy call to see how everything is going. Much like purchasing a car, this is a big purchase so I expected someone to follow-up after a few days or weeks to see if I liked it, if I had any questions, etc. The store is pretty nice and includes quite a few tubs, a couple with water in them. They certainly encourage you to get in the tub and get a feel for them.

Also check water quality I was told to add alkalinity increased which they had no problem selling me but didn't move my numbers. The test shows metals detected roughly every third test for me but would magically disappear. I'm 1200 into their expert advice and haven't even swam in the pool. I highly recommend know what you need before you go in. I bought something called a leaf demon which would have you believe no issue in getting your leaves out. Quite the opposite it was just an extra weight to the end of the poll for 100. Tried talking with them about and after the guy that sold it to me said we can't take it back but here's a 15 percent off your next order. Way to spit in a customers face

This store which is part of a large chain is a very nice one stop business for all your pool and…read morespa needs. They carry a full assortment of chemicals, pool/spa mechanical equipment, assorted tools, toys, etc. They also provide expert advice on pool related questions and problems and do free comprehensive water tests on your pool/spa as part of their customer service in helping you maintain your water chemistry and directing you to required chemicals. Prices are a little higher than you can find on the internet but there are many times you do not want too or can't afford too wait for an on line order to reach you where this store will definitely give you the option for same day support if desired. Lastly they also offer Leslie rewards points when you purchase stuff from them leading to cash rebates to be used for future purchases at Leslies. All in all, a very nice store for all your pool and spa needs.

Would have given no stars if it was possible…read more It went horrible. He said it would be $450, which we prepaid him. Than towards the end we got an invoice for another $230. He said it was because it was more work than he thought it would be, but never discussed any of these extra charges with us. He also said that we knew it would be more than $450 because it was such a large job, but again that was not true he never discussed it with us that it would be more the $450. He was rude when we called to talk to him about it and got upset with us because we never came out to talk to him while they were there cleaning the pool. We were at work each time he came so how could we? To top it all off the pool was open but not completely cleaned. There was still tons of vacuuming that needed to be done and it was disgusting the way he left it. However, he told us he was done cleaning it and it was our turn now. Yes that's right he said it was our turn to take it over when it wasn't even fully cleaned. Not only did he not finish the job and demand we pay him more but I had to continue to clean my yard every night when I got home. He would skim all the stuff out of the pool and just throw it in my grass dead frogs and everything.

Greg had a lot of good suggestions and changed some things around. They did great work and Greg was very hands on with the whole project. Openings and closings are done professionally and right on schedule and they do a lot. We couldn't be happier with this company and the "family" attention we receive from them. Looking forward to the upcoming summer and more days in our pool.

Another 5 star for work done on a project where "she works there". Obviously not likely someone who had a vested interest in the project and physically put out tens of thousands of dollars on a deposit "to get on the list" Can't comment on their maintenance opening/closing services as i never hired them and based on my experience would never hire them. Took my substantial deposit and went silent for months. Always heard that I was "coming up to the top of the list" finally after giving up and telling them to never mind and cancel work, did they finally start. Omitted a substantial part of the pool without a signed change order and tried to say "we talked about the change". Poor communication, perceived lack of interest from contractor after deposit taken and glacial progress. Finally had to get an attorney involved for contractual issues and to finally get closure on job. For maintenance - good luck For builds - go elsewhere
