We love Dr. Mortimer! Our daughters have been seeing Dr. Mortimer since they were babies & they are almost 14 & 17 now. She always takes her time with all of her patients & seems to really care. She never rushes out without answering our questions. That usually means you'll have to wait a long time to see her but I don't mind that if we don't have anything planned after their appointments. read more

After having our first baby, we saw a CPCMG Doc in Escondido but went to Dr Mortimer in Poway for another procedure. We really felt that Dr Mortimer was so incredible so we switched our son to her as his primary. Our first wellness check up she spent an hour with two very tired and overwhelmed parents who had A LOT of questions and concerns. It's been a year now and she is just THE BEST. She listens to all of our concerns, answers all of our questions without rushing us, and she is happy gentle and sweet with our son. I'm a a little hyper aware and curious so as a mom I feel like I notice everything and therefore question everything. She has never made me feel like my questions or concerns were annoying or silly, she always gives me direct and respectful answers. I know she can run behind but it's likely because she doesn't overlook anything and is patient enough to listen to the parents and take time to give them good information and advice. The late appts are more due to an office structure/insurance model issue. read more

Dr. Mortimer is great! She spends time explaining everything and is great at making kids feel comfortable. The down side is she can run late...a lot. But, once you have her attention she is very thorough. I am signing up for the new MyChart and am looking forward to having even easier access to her. She gave me some FABULOUS advice on preparing my pre-teen for what is ahead. If you are looking for a FANTASTIC pediatrician, and your lifestyle can tolerate a doctor that runs late, (really tho, what doctor doesn't?), I highly recommend Dr. Mortimer! read more

I felt the need to write this long overdue review, especially after seeing a negative comment that, on many levels, seems to be thrown out of proportion. The advice being given by this reviewer seems dangerous - because at the end of the day, I would rather have my child go through a few seconds of discomfort, than the risk of being that 0.1% chance that something seriously is wrong with our child that could have been completely avoided in it's infancy. The fact is, I'd rather my Dr recommend tests, then say "eh its okay no tests needed" and come to find out 2-3 years later that something greater/underlying issue was involved God forbid. My review is specifically for the treatment and the practice of Dr. Mortimer on our children. My daughter is 5 now, and my son is turning 4 soon, and both have been the patients of Dr. Mortimer since the first day they were born. To summarize, Dr. Mortimer has been amazing with our kids, my daughter is always looking forward to her appointment. Just today she has an appointment for taking her shots, and she was excited, not because of the shots but because of the experience. Dr Mortimer has created a very child friendly environment, and I couldn't see my children going to anyone else. Even though I moved from San Diego to Lake Elsinore, we still drive down there for her, because we were unable to get the same quality and expertise from the local pediatrics. I will say this, if there's one area of improvement, it would just be with the wait times when we visit lately. I understand that she's very popular and many people do the same as we do (move but still see her), but it should really get fixed! The truth is, if you're looking for a Pediatrician, whether it's Dr. Mortimer or anyone else, do yourself a favor and do your homework and try not to focus too much on a single incident that seems very unreasonable. I wish I could give this provider zero star. You may have different experience, but I'd like to share our experience here. She's now with CPCMG. We chose CPCMG for our newborn girl because their convenient walk in hours. But unluckily we got to see this particular provider for our first office visit and had terrible experience. We just had our first baby two weeks ago. I and my baby girl were discharged from hospital at the end of Wed. And My husband brought my girl to Dr Mortimer for her follow up visit on Friday. Dr Mortimer insisted my baby girl to have blood draw at her facility because she thought she looked yellow. As Asian we do look more yellowish than other races. However my baby girl just had two bilirubin tests done at hospital and she passed both tests. One of the test is just less than 48 hours ago. We were unsure about if it's necessary to have this extra blood draw on our tiny baby. So we turned down her suggestion and decided to go to another pediatrician for second thought. So we brought her to another pediatrics on the same street. We were told there our baby girl is doing fine and were suggested to keep monitoring the amount of dirty diapers. But the nightmare just started with this doctor Mortimer. She keeps calling our cell phones and left threatening messages to ask us to bring our baby back to her office. She even mentions she'll report to authorities to take our baby away from us and send lawyer to us if we don't do that. We end up have to send her an official certified mail stating she is fired and no longer our girl's pediatrician. Scary story with this doctor. 100% not recommended. If she's your kid's doctor, watch out for unnecessary tests and seek secondary advices where needed. Btw, under the guidance of our new pediatrician, my baby not only avoided the unnecessary blood draw but also gained one pound in just one week! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. This practice is the worst. My daughter had an appointment at 11:40. I arrived promptly at 11:30 to fill out paperwork / insurance changes. We sat and waited 45 minutes. They called me up to tell me they still had 2 patients in front of us. I love how my time isn't valuable to a physicians group and I'm expected to wait hours to see a doctor when they can't call a patient to tell them the doctor has over booked and is running behind. After asking for a refund of our co-pay, I left with my daughter who needed to be seen and asked if the doctor would please take the time to give us a call since she couldn't see us during our scheduled time. We never got a call back. That tells me this doctor doesn't care about her patients, just the cash she gets from them. When we called the doctor back several times, the receptionist kept lying to us telling us the doctor left early and then lied again and said Dr Mortimer was seeing another patient. The receptionist was extremely sick and coughing all over the place when we were there. No care being taken to keep others from getting her cold. This is the most uncaring office we have ever been to since moving to this area. I won't be going back. read more

The 5-star in this review is for Dr. Dori Mortimer. For Dr. Park - 4 stars. The office in general - 3 stars. DR. MORTIMER: She is amazing! She is patient, informative and always pleasant. I feel that she is genuinely concerned about my children's health and well being. Dr. Park was our first pediatrician, but I had both my children transferred to her after a chance-appointment and never looked back. In all the years we've seen her, I can only remember feeling SLIGHTLY rushed ONCE, and that wasn't even her fault; she was spending most of the time addressing my child's issue of the day, and I forgot to ask her my questions until she was about to leave. At all other appointments, she always took the time to answer our concerns - even when we were her last appointment and most other staff has already left because it was way past their working hours! So when she moved to the Poway office, I also moved my children to that office, even though it meant a much longer drive because we were still living in Mira Mesa. Yes, the wait to see her at some appointments can be long, but it is not anything unusual compared to any other doctor's office. I've waited much longer for much less competent doctors, dentists, nurses... only to have them see us for barely 5 minutes before running out the door. Some of them don't even stay for 5 minutes. My mom had an eye surgeon who saw her for all but 30 seconds under poor lighting before deciding that she needs laser surgery based on the disconnected evaluations of his 4 residents. So it's normally hard to justify waiting forever only to be seen for a few minutes. I mean, what do they do with all that time!? Fortunately, with Dr. Mortimer, I know what she does with all her time - CARING FOR US * HER PATIENTS. I feel that it's only reasonable for us to wait while she give others the same level of care that we'd want her to give us. I feel every minute waiting for her is a minute she'd give to me or another who needs it. She is amazing and absolutely WORTH THE WAIT. I'd gladly wait and follow her around wherever she moves - as long as it's drivable, I'm there =) DR. PARK: She was my first child's Dr. when we moved to Mira Mesa. She had a pleasant demeanor, but I always felt rushed by her. She barely has 5 minutes to answer our questions before starting to wrap up and literally inch towards the door. Most of the time, I felt the responses were abbreviated and sometimes dismissive, albeit in a nice way. Although her care was not at the same level as our previous pediatrician, it was adequate and the office was close to our house, so we stayed w/ her. When my second daughter came along, the first pediatrician who saw her at the hospital was an older male Dr. (Zaguli ?) who happened to be on-call. Since he was the first to see my child, he was automatically assigned as her follow-up physician. I was disappointed about this because I've talked to Dr. Park about my upcoming delivery during my last trimester, and she had talked about seeing my baby at the hospital. She never showed. Personally, I was not happy with Dr. Zaguli. He brushed off all my concerns, talked down to me, and did not seem to care about my child. He also had things to say about the patient before us, which was not okay in my book especially after he acted all nice to them. Thus, I requested the office to transfer my baby back to Dr. Park. Then one day Dr. Park was not available to see my child. I didn't really want to see another doctor because of past experiences, but my child couldn't wait. So I reluctantly agree to see Dr. Mortimer. Obviously, it turned out to be THE BEST DECISION for my children. THE OFFICE (mira mesa): 1. The exam rooms are not equipped with hand washing sinks. The staff sometimes sanitize when they walk into the room, sometimes don't. 2. Some of the staff is very rough when it comes to giving children shots. Almost all of them are not capable of injecting in the same spot they sterilized. They would wipe (sterilize) an area, only to inject the spot completely outside of that area, then bandage so that the needle hole ends up on the edge of the bandage pad. 3. The staff either does not have experience or doesn't care when injecting your baby (newborn/infant). When injecting a baby, it has been my experience that the injection area is gently pinched to elevate the flesh during the injection. In my opinion the pinching is to provide cushion since baby shots are done in a quick "jab-release" motion, which could potentially harm the baby since the needles are long and babies' limbs are so tiny. So it was alarming at an appointment when the nurse stabbed my baby's tiny leg without first cushioning it with a pinch. It was a quick and HARD (forceful) stab directly into my baby's "flat" leg. I could almost "see" the needle jabbing my baby's tiny bone. It was horrible. When I brought my concern to the doctor and staff's attention, it was brushed off with no real explanations or apologies read more

Dr Mortimer has taken care of my son for over 10 years. 3 years ago when he had a major surgery at Rady's she cautioned me on symptoms of a rare complication that could occur, no one else did. That very complication DID occor and almost killed my son because the doctors at Rady's would not diagnosis it. I took him up to Loma Linda Hospital and they were able to diagnosis him with exactly what Dr Mortimer cautioned me about, Superior Messenteric Artery Syndrome. He almost died, it took over 2 years for him to recover from this, most people don't. If it wasn't for Dr. Mortimers commitment to her patients and and thoroughness my little boy would not be here today. To here some one complain about a possible precautionary blood test... Mrs. Y, you have a lot to learn about raising a child. I will always put my childs health first and a doctor that is commited to my child is e3xactly what I look for. read more
