Real hole in the wall, not too many tables but it was empty when we went. The food was good but the prices seemed a bit too high for a casual deli spot and the sandwiches weren't that big. I will say the pastrami was super delicious. Recommend getting the #2 sub if you go.

Pastrami and corned beef

Probably been 20 years since I've been in here? Sandwich a little smaller than I remember, but still solid for the price. Friendly service, decent parking. Could do a lot worse for lunch if you're near UofC.

Corn, beef, sandwiches, Chicago hotdog, and plenty of sport peppers!

I was just in Chicago visiting my father, so I was able to stop in for a corn beef, dark rye, and get another for the plane back to California. Over the decades, Morris has been a couple different locations but always on 55th They now have a second location a few miles west but I have not yet been Enjoy this photograph of deliciousness!

So this is the "Special". Not even close to anything special. Sliced lunch meat is what it tasted like. Extremely small.

Fresh and clean exterior. Inviting. Street parking. Let's get right to the disappointment. Wife and I opted for the Morry's special Rueben. In short, nothing special. As a matter of fact, can't verify it, but I'd guess the corned beef is simply sliced lunch meat. Flavor... not notable. Size, paltry at best. Save your money. Drive north to Mannys.

skimpy! this is the front of the sandwich the other photo shows the rear of the sandwich with no meat

i was very disappointed in the quality of the corned beef definitely wasn't vienna. the skimpiest sandwich i've had in my life for 12$ never get food from here

After wedding lunch. Making memories. Eating well.

OMG. I have not had such a good sandwich since Koches Deli when I was in college at Penn in West Philly. Delicious, huge and a great price to boot.

Corned Beef Sandwich

I went here for lunch and had a corned beef sandwich. I was not impressed with the size of the sandwich or the taste. It just seemed too small a portion of meat for a $10-11 sandwich. Also, the beef was thinly sliced, and I prefer chunkier cuts. It just wasn't very good. As positives, the service was fast and the location is good for parking.

Combination sandwich with corned beef and pastrami

My colleague and I ordered lunch from here. She had the Morry's Famous Combination Sandwich with corned beef and pastrami. I had the #5 Morry's Sky High Triple Decker Sandwich, which is turkey breast, bacon and Swiss cheese. It also comes with potato salad and a pickle. I'm not a fan of the potato salad but the sandwiches are good.

Friendly service. Large selections on menu. Deli atmosphere. Size able portions. Loved the polish kielbasa.

This is truly one of the hidden treasures of Hyde Park. The pastrami is to dye for the soups are great and home made daily.

It was refreshing to come to a deli that didn't have an overwhelming menu. When it was my turn to order, the interaction felt very personable. I ordered a Turkey Pastrami & Provolone sandwich and my girlfriend ordered a Turkey and Provolone (not pictured). The overall assembly of the sandwich was perfect. The bread is sourced from D'Amoto's (IYKYK) ‍. The meat was thinly sliced but they didn't skimp at all. The hot peppers were the star of the show though. We were quoted a time of 20 minutes out. We arrived a little early and the gal at the counter told us it would be a few minutes. She called out when ready and sat at one of the tables in the front to eat. Each sub had a decent amount of filling. While we each offered the smallest subs, we were plenty full when we left. We enjoyed our subs and now have a place to add to our list for a new quick lunch. For the store itself, they have some odds and ends but many Italian staples. The counter and deli had a steady flow of customers in and out.

The sandwich was fresh, the chicken was seasoned well, and I especially liked the ratio of mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onion. Everything came together nicely, and I enjoyed the overall flavor. The restaurant has a cool, vintage Italian-style feel. It's casual, with the option to grab your food to go or sit down and enjoy it. The service is set up more like a fast-casual spot: you walk up, place your order, and the staff gets it prepared. The service was good during my visit, and everything felt easy and straightforward. Overall, I enjoyed the food, the service, and the atmosphere. Rico Beans made a great first impression, and I would definitely recommend giving them a try. Four out of five stars from me!

My only regret is getting the 6-inch instead of the 12-inch because it was that good. Now, I did forget how tough a good hoagie can be to bite into, but honestly, that just made it feel even more real. The sandwich was fresh, filling, and worth every bite. The vibe inside was cool. I came in, they had some good music playing an alternative group from the '90s and I was greeted right away. The gentleman who took my order over the phone was pleasant, and the service felt welcoming. The price was decent, and there was parking when I went, but keep in mind I stopped by on a Tuesday after 4 p.m. The only thing I wish they had was more drink options besides soda, I wanted a water and there was none that I seen. Overall, I can't wait to go back. If the vegan sandwich was this good, I already know the other hoagies are probably killing it too. Bronzeville Hoagie and Panini definitely needs to be on your list.

It was very nice. Music was playing. The young man behind the counter was extremely nice. It was clean and desirable. I also ended up ordering strawberry shortcake, which I will try later when I get home. I bought Italian beef to give to my husband. We will see how that is when I get there and I also ordered chili which I may eat when I go to work tomorrow unless I get the munchies tonight and finish to wrap this up. Hot or cold, you got exactly what you were asking for. On this particular day, I was pretty much undecided on what to eat when a friend suggested D'Amato's. I hadn't had them since I moved away, so I was looking forward to reliving some food memories. They have a new place, but the same menu and maybe even some of the same people. All I knew was that I was excited to have them again. How it went so wrong so fast, I'm still not sure. I ordered a chicken parm for myself and a turkey club for my friend. What I got was a chicken parm and a Caesar club. Strike one. Unfortunately, things didn't get much better from there. The chicken parm was gritty and mostly crust, with hardly any chicken. My friend said the Caesar club wasn't good at all. They told me I should go back and get my money, but honestly, I chalked it up to them being in a new place and maybe still getting used to their surroundings. I think part of me just couldn't believe that a place I remembered so fondly had taken such a turn for the worse. I couldn't even bring myself to go back and face them. I can't say I'll be going back anytime soon. Somewhere, an angel just lost its wings.
