Got to stay at a new accommodation called Treetops which was great. We have been to Morrisons several times before and are always pleased with the experience and willingness of staff to make sure we are comfortable. The Treetops is a house with a full kitchen , grand master bedroom , multiple additional rooms , deck and striking views across the valley. It was so roomy it seems like you could have had 12 people stay in the house. We will definitely stay here again. Almost forgot to mention the view from the living room through the vast cathedral style windows is breathtaking and makes you feel like you are in the treetops.....probably where they got the name ;)

Filthy windows

First of all, let me preface this with by saying that the grounds here are absolutely gorgeous and over all the lodge is really nice. On one hand, I understand that you are paying for the historical elements of this place. But on the other hand, I don't see that this is a $210 per night resort. At most, I would feel better paying about $100 for this room. We had a spider living in here with us, and I think that something bit me on my foot as I was sleeping. The windows are filthy, the balloon valances above your head where you sleep are super dusty. We were afraid to lower the drapes because we didn't want all the dust to drop on our heads. The wallpaper is peeling. The air-conditioner did not work and we had to figure out how to make it work because the staff didn't know (FYI, if you stay in this room and can't get the thermostat to work, try the breaker switch on the plug-in). This morning we went down to have breakfast and the night before the front desk forgot to mention that we would need to make a reservation. No big deal, we went down to the restaurant and the waitress sent us back to the front desk to make the reservations. There was no one staffing front desk; as if they didn't show up that day (we aren't sure- we called the Front desk earlier about something else and no one answered). Finally, the waitress just let us eat in the restaurant; it felt a little awkward like she was put out by it (not like she was upset with us, just like she was a little frazzled because a bunch of people started coming in looking for food and not being able to access the front desk staff). Also, when we checked in the night before, the front desk staff told us that there would be no problem if we wanted to have a late check out because we didn't get there until after 6 PM. The next day the front desk staff didn't want us to have a late check out. They made us feel like they would be put out to give us what they offered us. We are not new to staying at nice places. We travel quite a bit and have easily stayed at 15 or more hotels in the last year alone (in different parts of the country) so I feel like we know what we should get for our money. I would have no problem paying in the $100 range for this but I expect much more for the price.

Ask the Community - Morrisons Rogue Wilderness Lodge

What does the pricing on the cabins look like?

I stayed in cabin c8 and tuck away 2. Both were about 200/night. But they sleep way different amounts of people. Tuck away is bigger.

From start to finish this experience was top-notch. The guides were so great, experienced, professional (in a good way!) and extremely personable. They made sure we had everything we needed/wanted and fed us well on the riverside lunch pullovers. A special shout out to our raft guide, Billy. This man is THE BEST! Billy is a seasoned veteran of the river, having grown up in the area as a river guide and fishing guide for decades. He schooled us on river history and legend and kept us laughing with his jokes and humor. The overnight accommodations at the lodges were also really great. Rustic yet very comfortable and each meal that was served was excellent. I really loved the family style dinners and breakfasts and appreciated the time to get to know new people and share our experiences during of the day. So now to the scenery; there is so much undisturbed beauty on the Rogue. Along with the beauty of the river and canyon itself, we saw a couple of bears, lots of deer, bald eagles, hawks, osprey and even a mink on our trip. Oh, yeah, and the rapids were pretty fun, too! Experiencing Mary's Pot Hole will NOT be forgotten. All-in-all, I highly recommend Orange Torpedo Trips if you're planning a wild country adventure. Watch out, OTT, we're comin' for you next year, hopefully with some kiddos in tow!

You down wit OTT? Yeah, you know me…read more The 4 hour trip was not at all what I had expected, but it was fun nonetheless and I highly recommend the trip. First, I was getting mixed messages about the dangers and thrills. A guy at the hotel said it's a piece of cake. But one my friends had his cousin pop out of a raft, get stuck underneath, and came out with his eyes rolled back. But the website makes it sound super safe. But then I tore off all my fingernails as the guides went over safety protocol and would have started on the toes if I could have reached them. And then our raft went down the "Class IV" rapids with no problem. But the raft after us tipped over! So... what to think? Well, this stretch of river is safe and I believe the only true danger is NOT following protocol IF you tip over, which is feet up and facing down the river. And, though I thought the ride might be unstable, you're actually instructed to stop paddling, lean toward the middle, keep your feet braced, and hold on to handles, so nobody should be worried. Keep your fingernails. Second, I thought it was going to be tiring, but for 95% of the ride you are not paddling, which was a huge surprise. Most of the ride will be relaxing and/or conversing. For that reason, I recommend getting on Hayden's boat, if you have a choice. I told him he reminded me of Jeff Spicoli, but he was too young to get the reference so I changed it to Crush from Finding Nemo. Crush is basically a turtle version of Sean Penn's Spicoli. I am sure the other guides are awesome captains, too. Cora seemed to be playing more balancing games on her raft, and JP is the leader. It is not cheap, but I think it was a good value. The only complaints I have (none large enough to subtract stars) is that it's not clear where to pay the parking lot fee at Gold Hill and the description mentioned the distribution of snacks, and we didn't get any. Unless Hayden got the munchies and took them all?

Booking the trip was relatively straightforward, but Morrisons highly encouraged us to do trip insurance because they don't offer refunds, which should've been the first red flag. Before I go too far, I do want to give a huge shout out to our guides Drew, Adam, and Johnny. They were amazing, and if I were rating just them, this review would be 5++ stars. They were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and genuinely cared about us and our hike. The rest of the Morrison's staff...not so much. There was an active wildfire in the area before we started the hike. We talked to Morrison's several times in the days leading up to the trip (before we flew out) and even asked about rebooking the trip for a different time, when the forest in the area wasn't on fire. We were assured that even though they were planning a few modifications to our itinerary (i.e. at least one day of rafting instead of hiking), they were confident that it would be a wonderful trip. Fast forward to the end of day 2 of our trip...and they had to cancel the rest of the 4-day hike due to safety concerns and, ultimately, a mandatory evacuation. To be clear, I'm not upset that we were pulled out of the woods, as that was an obvious safety decision. I'm mad because we specifically asked about rebooking for different dates and were told no. Morrison's got us back to their main lodge the following morning, at which point they considered themselves done with us. There was no refund, no help finding rooms for the night, and the last lodge we were in literally wouldn't even let us use the bathroom in the hour we were waiting for vans to get us back to safety. Morrison's did at least send us all an official email about the trip cancellation so that we could share that with our travel insurance (if we'd purchased it) to try to get a refund, but that was about it. Morrisons also made the guides tell us, rather than having anyone higher up in the company talk to us. From what we can tell, they also didn't do anything to help their guides (e.g. helping them find lodging) once the trip was canceled. I will also add that I'm vegetarian, and although there was a lot of very tasty vegetarian food available, vegetarian protein was extremely scarce. For dinner the two nights we hiked (~9 mi on day 1 and 15 mi on day 2), there was no source of vegetarian protein for me to eat. (The gluten free and dairy free people fared much better.) It would've been so easy to roast a portobello mushroom the way they roasted salmon, or to do some kind of meat substitute when they did ribs (they did have meat substitute at the lunches, and eggs or veggie patties at breakfast). I had brought some protein powder with me, but not enough to make up for dinners without protein. My friends ended up giving me the protein bars they'd brought for themselves to try to make up for the dinners. To Morrison's: please consider all macronutrients (carbs, fat, AND protein) when planning meals for your guests! Overall, I would absolutely go back to the river with any of the guides, but I'll never use Morrisons again, and I recommend that you don't either.

I played early July and almost all of the streams and ponds were dried up, but come spring, I could see this adding an extra layer of difficulty to this already extremely challenging course. All holes are very well marked and offer two tee boxes and two or 3 hole placements. Hole 13 in particular was the longest and the pin placement wasn't on the sign, it must have been an extra 250' past the long pin. There is an old dam/bridge/wall that has a bunch of cool graffiti on it adding to the ambiance of the course. Nice flowing river on the south end of the park. Overshoot 18 and your disc could roll down into the water and be toast! Costs $5 for a day pass, well worth the price of admission!
