Had a great adventure on the Klamath river for 3 day and 2 nights. the trip leader Katie Hageman was incredible explaining what we were to do and what to expect. Her guides Hanna Rottath, Ari Soto ,Hanna Alley, Cam Moore and Hanna Scout Field were outstanding very personable, confident, knowledgeable and lots of fun. My daughter , her Husband and my 2 granddaughters with their grandmother had the best time of our Lives. Food was awesome they really treat you well and we saw deer, eagles,blue herons and ducks & geese. We want to do the Rogue river next year. Our family just completed the 3-day trip down the Lower Klamath in Northern California. it was our 2nd trip with Oars, and once again it was amazing. The trips are well planned and designed so everything is taken care of for you. The highlight of Oars trips is the professional guides who take you down the river safely, set up and break down camps, prepare amazing food and make the trip run smoothly. They are also great with kids. We have boys ages 9 & 11. The guides engaged them in games, played catch with them, and balanced teaching them to be safe on the river while splashing around and having fun. If you ever considered doing a rafting trip. THIS IS IT. Rogue River is picturesque with just enough flat to make you appreciate the rapids and just enough rapids to make you appreciate the flat, with rapids variable enough to say "yeah, that was a 3-" by the end of the trip like you've been doing this not just three days. The best part of the trip was the crew! The crew - Kate, Nicole, Alec, Rachel, Ryan, Rudy, Cam - were all awesome and worked so very hard to make this trip incredible. As I was grumbling to myself that I had to get up at 7 am to drink my already-prepared coffee (with snacks) while waiting for my gourmet-level breakfast I didn't know was possible while camping - it occurred to me that the crew has already been up, have set up the breakfast snack table, brewed coffee, and are almost done with our breakfast. As I was grumbling about having to set up or put down the tent every day - I realized that the crew loaded and unloaded everything and set up camp and chairs before we even got to the site. They did all this without me noticing because the entire time they were friendly and kind and easy-going. These folks genuinely like being out, working together, on the river, sharing good vibes. If we could somehow bottle the enthusiasm, hard work, positive vibes they posses - all of world's problems would be solved. They set an excellent no non-sense (it *is* rapids and camping), fun, positive, uplifting and encouraging mood every single day. I felt safe under everyone's watchful eye. Everyone communicated clearly about what was expected from the river and from us (I'm an anxious person and this was such a big deal to me). Talking to other folks on this trip for whom this was not their first rafting adventure - apparently, once you go OARS, you don't go back. Seems like that company has figured out a way how to make great crews. Re-entering the real world has been tough. There's been 0 ospreys or bald eagles or turkey vultures (usually there's one or two or three somewhere around you on Rogue) on my morning walk and, dare I say - I miss "THE GROOVER". The most elegant, beautiful bathroom situation I have dealt with while camping. I also brought a semi-surly teenager against his will who, by the end, was begrudgingly "somehow" having a great time. This would absolutely not be possible without Kate, Nicole, Alec, Rachel, Ryan, Rudy, and Cam and the vibes they have set up. If I had all the money in the world, these guys would be flown out to anywhere they wanted to be so I can have rafting adventures with them there.. but for now, I just already want to go back to the Rogue and this time make it through the Coffee Pot without being thoroughly percolated. read more

Our main guide Andy, and other guides Kate, Kace and John could not have been better safety was a major priority and so was fun! The meals were delicious. Fantastic 3 night, 4 day trip down the Rogue. Weather was hot and beautiful. Came as a group of 4 and made 8 new friends. We had four guides who were outstanding: Andy (lead), Casey, Abby, Travis. All were kind, fun, and informative. We had delicious meals: salmon, tri-tip, enchiladas, lox & bagels, eggs benedict, chicken Caesar salad wraps, pancakes, and more. The camp sites were beautiful. While our trip was adults only, this would be a great trip for kids as well. There were options to just sit on the gear boats and enjoy the view, paddle on the paddle boat and get a bigger whitewater experience or get down in a kayak and really challenge yourself. This makes it very approachable for a wide range of ages. As a bonus we also had education on the history of the river and geology. Short day hikes, rock jumping into the river, and dips in a variety of swimming holes were also part of the trip. Overall would highly recommend a multi-day Rogue River excursion with OARS. read more

This trip was absolutely amazing and exceeded my expectations! OARS did a stellar job of creating a safe but very adventurous experience that was a hit with all 5 of us in my family (and it's not easy to find something all 5 of us enjoy). Our family had an incredible experience on the Rouge River in Oregon with Oars. Our guides on the river did a phenomenal job of providing a fun and adventurous experience for the various interests and skill levels while making sure everyone stayed safe. The food was amazing every time (!!!) and the camping arrangements were very comfortable. We really appreciated how intentional they were about making sure everyone felt included and had a positive experience--from the river to camp to side hikes and excursions. The "wild and scenic" portion of the Rouge river was beautiful and the experience was the perfect combination of relaxing and thrilling for kids and adults. Absolutely incredible time! Just finished up with the rowing clinic. Was a really awesome experience and feel like I'm ready to go rowing independently with my own set up. Just got back from a four day/three night trip with Oars on the Rouge River in Oregon... seriously a soul changing experience! Our guides (Nichole, Crystal, Luke and Karen) were so incredibley knowledgeable about the river, the rapids, the local history & the flora and fauna we were constantly in awe. My two best friends and I went, having never rafted or kayaked before, and we did it all and loved every moment of it. The guides are so helpful in teaching you how to navigate each and every rapid when in a kayak, stopping their boat before heading into it to give the kayakers very detailed and specific info on where and how to enter each rapid, what to look for & where to paddle through it. We went swam in swim holes, hiked to waterfalls, visited 2 historic sites, slept under the stars inches from the river, and ate AMAZING meals... yes, FRESH fruits and vegetables at EVERY meal!!! From hot pancakes, frech toast, eggs benedict for breakfasts to chicken burritos with all the fixings, salmon/asparagus/salad/quiona, and New York steaks/Mahi Mahi/Roasted Garlic Mashed potatoes/salad and freshly shucked corn on the cob for dinners!!!! Lunches were just as amazing, I cannot say enough good things about the food served!!! Our total group size was about 15 and it only took an afternoon for all us to quickly feel like long time friends! Karen's Ukulele and singing in the eveings, the jokes and stories shared, the teamwork between the guides and between the group lead to the most amazing trip! I would give it 10 stars if I could. If you are even thinking about taking an oars trip, stop thinking and BOOK IT, you will not regret it! In fact, 7 of our group members had been on other OARS adventures in the past and said they would never book with another outfitter as OARS is the best.... after this experience and even though I've never done a trip like this, I'd have to agree with them all! My best friends and I are planning an adults only trip next summer with our husbands, again through OARS. read more

Amazing amazing amazing. My family and I have nothing but good things to say. We did the 4 day, 3 night trip on the rogue river 6/5-6/8. We were a party of 7 ( myself, my husband our 2 kids ages 9 and 13, my SIL and her 2 kids ages 20 and 17). Every single one of us from the 9 year old to the teenagers give it one millions stars. There were 3 other lovely groups on the trip as well. From the minute we met at the meeting spot to stepping out of the rafts for the last time, we felt safe, comfortable and extremely taken care of. Our guides - Kate, Bridget, Jay, Charlotte and Marcus went above and beyond to make sure everyone was having their own definition of fun, whether it was kayaking, taking in a scenic leisure ride in the raft, swimming rapids, jumping off rocks, hiking or playing games. They made sure we were always safe and hydrated with full bellies. Every instruction was clear and repeated, there was never a question of what we were doing or what the plan was. And the food - oh my goodness, every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) started with an appetizer. It's like they brought a gourmet kitchen and a Whole Foods with them. I still don't know exactly how they did it. And tons of snacks throughout the day. It's truly a top notch enterprise. They clearly take pride in service and safety. I was rescued by Zack from Oars! I was hiking the Rogue River Trail took a fall to many and waited a day for his group to come along and bring me and my gear to the safety of Rogue River Ranch. His group was having so much fun. I actually had a moment where I yelled 'Waaa Hoooo' coming down a rapid. Thanks guys you saved me, no way I could of gotten myself out. Amazing experience! I know it sounds impossible to have both a highly-active and adventurous vacation AND a restful, relaxing vacation at the same time, but that's what O.A.R.S. delivered. We took their 5-day Rogue River trip, and loved every minute of it. The Rogue is a great river to raft with kids, as it's warm, the scenery provides lots of opportunity for wildlife viewing, and the whitewater is mild enough that young kids can raft it (but still exciting enough for most people). While the adventure of the trip was great, it was truly the guides who made the trip for us. Not only were these men and women experts on rafting, but they set up and took down every camp, found our campsites, directed us on hikes and took us to swimming holes, prepared every meal, and rafted every mile. Every day of our trip, we stopped numerous times to explore the area: the kids in our group most loved the creek hikes to swimming holes and jumping rocks. I loved that I never had to worry about what came next: where we were camping, what we were eating, etc was ALL taken care of. All that was required of me was to enjoy rafting, bask in the sun, play with friends and family, and eat. The food was amazing. One member of our group turned to me after being served grilled salmon and said, "This is the type of food I'd try to prepare for a holiday, and these guys are making it on the river!" I've camping often, and never had food this good come from a camp kitchen. We had steak, fish, gourmet sandwich makings, lox, eggs Benedict, French toast, incredible salads, fresh guacamole, and more. If you're looking for a vacation that will be memorable, uncrowded, low on stress, but still high on excitement, O.A.R.S. is for you. read more

OARS is a first class operation. We just returned from a 4 day Rogue River expedition. The guides were extremely knowledgeable, hard working and friendly. We learned so much about rafting/paddling, took nature walks and enjoyed fantastic meals all prepared by the guides. Every night, we camped by the river (you set up your own tents). The guides made huge delicious meals, set up camp chairs and a "bathroom" with a scenic view. We recommend this trip and would definitely go again. read more

Just got back from a family trip on the lower Klamath and we had a great time. We were very impressed with the whole Oars crew. Our leader, David knew the area backwards and forwards and all of the crew were so knowledgable about the wildlife, area, habitat and history. They even knew were to look for specific eagles in the area. Our kids (ages 8-13) had soooo much fun - they loved Sam who was the captain of the "kids" boat - bless his heart - he wrangled a "crew" of 5 kids down the river...the man has the patience of a saint) and the crew knew just how much freedom to give them and had games and activities to keep them occupied but they had relaxing down time to just throw rocks in the river and dig in the sand. The guides were personable and the food was great. Before the trip was over, we were talking about planning our next Oars trip. 3 days seemed too short. The coffee was a tad weak...that was the only complaint I could muster! read more

The OARS Rogue River rafting trip is the second trip my husband and I have gone on with this company. This company and their employees are like a well oiled machine. Very knowledgable, personable guides. We have enjoyed the company of the other travelers as well as the guides. They cook wonderful varied meals. Plenty of tasty as well as healthy food. The river is clear and we saw abundant wildlife. Lots of bald eagles, deer and black bears. The bears were only interested in the salmon and blackberries so there were no worries on that account. The river had enough rapids and rocks to jump off of to keep all ages entertained. We are looking forward to traveling with OARS again. read more
