This place is so good. It's not what you'd expect from a cafe in an office building. My breakfast cost me $6.96. Large La Colombe coffee and bacon/egg/cheese/biscuit. I've eaten wraps here that were pressed and they were great. There has never been a line when I've gone in. They also are staffed very well. Good people that are quick and efficient. I dream of these breakfast sandwiches. Just be sure to ask them to toast the biscuit. That's the ideal sandwich. I'm even trying not to eat sandwiches for breakfast anymore. This and the beyond sausage sandwich at Dunkin are pulling me back. I know that the last thing I said may completely invalidate the rest of this review. IDFC. Although they are affiliated with Starr Restaurants, the food quality can be a hit or miss. Lunch items are generally fresh, but not always the best flavor. I also tried one of their juices (I think it was called "Liquid Gold") and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. Pricing is generally a bit high, but the coffee is decent and reasonably priced. The food quality also seems to vary based on who works that day. I went in one morning and got one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in a while, with eggs over easy with bacon and cheddar, over a toasted croissant. The next day, I tried to get the same sandwich (but with an English muffin instead) and it was inedible. The bacon was all fat, the muffin was burned, and the egg was over-peppered and overcooked to a rubbery state, and they slapped on waxy piece of American cheese without giving me a chance to switch it out for cheddar. Although it's in a pretty convenient location for me, the unpredictable food quality and higher-than-average pricing definitely keep me from becoming a regular. read more

Oh Morris' Cafe, you upset me! How could you raise your prices? I feel as if you aren't as reasonable as you used to be! I went for breakfast and your breakfast sandwiches are now close to $5! What?!?!?!?! I used to only spend $3something. :-(. Not only did your prices rise, your food portions also shrunk. My co-worker ordered the Jerk chicken the other day, and it was the tinest piece of chicken I have ever seen for over $9! Yes yes, you are still good, but you can no longer be a 5 star in my books. The Morris Cafe is the cafeteria at the bottom of the Duane Morris office building. Oddly enough, its open to the public, not just Duane Morris employees. I work at the building next door, and eat here a lot for breakfast, and sometimes lunch. Its quick, convenient, and they have several options. The croissant sandwiches for breakfast are yummy, and only around $5. There's also a made-to-order omelet station in the mornings, about $6.50, with tons of fresh ingredients to add to your omelet. For lunch, the salads are $6, or $9 if you add a protein. The salad bar has tons of choices for toppings, so that's usually what I get. Overall, Duane Morris cafeteria is a good spot for several choices. They recently had a price increase, so its not has dirt cheap as it used to be last year. Bummer. Now, the prices are comparable to other non-cafeteria like spots in the city. I go here if I don't have enough time to walk anywhere else, or if I'm unsure what I want. But, I don't go here for a gourmet lunch. It is a cafeteria after all! read more

I've worked in this building for 4 years and really used to love this place. Ate breakfast here every day and lunch a couple times a week. Now I rarely go there. Perhaps the decline coincides with when Starr sold the Café, but prices are going up while quality and portion size go down. A simple example, I used to get a nice Sausage, Egg, and Cheese breakfast sandwich on an oversized English muffin for $4. Nice deal. Now, the sandwich comes with 1 sausage patty instead of two on a small English Muffin and is $6.50. It is barely a snack instead of a filling breakfast. This is probably the best kept secret in terms of lunch options. I have never heard of it until my coworker introduced it to me. When you walk in, it looks like a typical corporate cafeteria with different stations you can get food from. They offer a wide variety: grill station, salad bar, sandwich, and global dish. I went for a small salad. You can choose from field greens, romaine, and baby spinach. The small salad goes for $4.5. If you want to add protein (chicken), it's $1.5 more. If you want seafood (salmon), it's $2.5 more. There are a lot of toppings you can choose from as well. I think you get at least 5 or 6 toppings for free. The whole salad costs me $7 which is a great price for what I got. Once you paid for your food, they also have indoor and outdoor seating available. On one of the tables, we found a weekly menu which includes breakfast and lunch. It looks like the menu changes every week. This will definitely be one of my to-go lunch places from now on. Seriously a best kept secret! It looks like your typical corporate cafeteria..like are you even allowed in there? But their food is amazing! I typically opt for their salad bar, which as everyone has mentioned, starts at $4.50 and you get 5 toppings and is extra for meat. They have a great variety of vegetables and dressings and everything looks super fresh. Their salads are seriously so good. WAY better than Saladworks and stuff. Catered by Starr, the Morris Cafe is a good destination for the Center City Lunchers who aren't sure what they want to eat. Their salads are pretty reasonable for these parts and the ingredients are always fresh. They even have salmon to top you off for extra protein and it doesn't break the bank. For the unhealthy crew, their mac and cheese is tasty too. I have had their sammies and soup and they don't disappoint. However, my favorite is usually the continental dish. I have gotten 2 crab cakes with sides for about $10. It changes everyday, so you won't get bored. Since it does change everyday, I have definitely had moments where I walked in and walked out, not seeing anything of interest to me. They do have print outs at the register of that week's menu, but I often wish they had it online somewhere. I have thought about creating a facebook page just to post it every Monday. But ain't nobody got time for that. This place is kind of a secret, so hopefully you feel cool if you find it. read more

Tucked away on the ground level of the Duane Morris building at 17th and Market, Morris Cafe is a delicious breakfast/lunch destination . This place happens to be catered by Starr. In the morning they have a quality omelet station. You can ask them for roasted peppers, fried onions, mushrooms, etc. which will end up costing you just under 3 dollars along with a side of roasted potatoes. Their bagels and cream cheese will cost you under 2 dollars. They won't even charge you for adding vegetables! At lunch, they have a world flavor dish of the day (which changes every day duhh...), along with a pizza station, burgers/fries, a sandwich area, and really good salads. To be honest, the salad station is probably the best in the city. You can tell their veggies are fresh, and never frozen. These guys even have an outdoor seating area! I highly recommend coming here if you're tired of the food court scene at Liberty One/Comcast Center. read more

This is a true gourmet cafeteria. There is a sandwich station, salad bar and hot food galore which changes each day based upon what the chef decides to get up to. Each week they have a menu they print on Monday so you know what is coming all week. When we were there, they had everything from pulled pork to crab cakes. I tried the salad bar when I went and was impressed to find all the selections - between the fresh crisp veggies and vast assortment of nuts and seeds, I hadn't even thought about what premium protein I wanted. Grilled chicken, giant shrimp, salmon! You can really make a mean salad here. SaladWorks will never compare. Welcome to Morris', a Center City cafeteria that has all the hallmarks of any standard modern college dining hall: a wide array of fresh, gourmet options, reasonable prices, and a long salad line filled with gossiping girls who can't wait to get their mixed greens with grilled chicken and dressing on the side. After hearing about this place from my former classmates who work in Center City and swear by it, I decided to give it a try today when I forgot to pack lunch. The entrance is cleverly in the lobby of United Plaza, almost to suggest that this is only for corporate types or working professionals "in the know". Walking around the cafeteria and scoping out the scene, everyone is wearing business attire. I decided to wait in the long salad line for one of their famous salads. It's actually not a bad deal: greens plus five toppings is only $4.50, and protein on top is just $1.50 more. Did I mention that all of the food is Stephen Starr Catering? Since I was alone and needed to catch up on work, I decided to bring my salad back to my desk instead of eating in the rather sterile (but light filled) dining room or outside on the terrace. The salad, however, was definitely a step up from any other cafeteria I've had in a while. Not only were the vegetables crisp and fresh, but my grilled chicken was absolutely delicious. It was moist, tender, and tasted like real chicken (something that you can't really get in a fast food salad these days). And with a price point that's comparable or potentially lower to nearby competitors, it would be stupid to go elsewhere. The salad bar has great options aside from the chicken (napa cabbage, yellow squash, edamame, to name a few), and the rest of the food looked equally delicious. This place takes food recycling to extremes that are borderline health violations. Wednesday "oatmeal of the day" was pineapple and coconut, which, gross, but whatever. It did not sell. Vat was still nearly full at 10:30 am--30 mins before they move to lunch service, and oatmeal is swapped with soup. Fine. Then this morning (Friday: two days after the pineapple coconut oatmeal) the oatmeal of the day is "Fruit medley." Bought it. To my surprise, it's pineapple coconut, with a sliced banana tossed in. Cafe Morris is a good place to go for lunch with your colleagues. They have a good variety of salads/sandwiches/wrap and hot foods selections that change every day. The prices are really reasonable for a center city location and they have indoor and outdoor seating. I usually get something from the salad bar and they have lots of yummy veggies/toppings to choose from. I am not a big fan of the protein, they have chicken and salmon and bbq chicken, but the chicken is a little bit dry! So i usually go with the veggie options. I'm not too familiar with the area as of yet but I haven't seen any create a salad places besides salad works, which was pricey and just so so. After reading about Morris' Cafe, I decided to swing by. Its a smallish food court but they seem to have gone with quality over quantity. The salad station is a bit limited but what they've got is good. I went with a large salad, 5 toss ins are included, however if you want a meat topping it's an extra $2 or $3. I went with chicken. All in all, it was good and it came to $9.18. I wish they threw in a piece of bread. Anything that makes me think I'm getting over on the house is a huge mental victory. "Sure, I paid $2000 above sticker price but I got the floor mats AND a set of key chains. Who's the sucker now?" You feel me? My co-workers and I go here so often it is know as "The Spot" in the office, and we do not work in the Duane Morris building. Probably one of the best lunch salads you can get in Center City for the price. Always have a good selection of toppings, and their chipotle ranch dressing is delicious. The line moves quick, and you can get out of there with a great salad for less than $6.50. The grill and daily hot dishes are solid too, but a little pricey for what you get. The sandwich bar is average too. Breakfast here is chock full of great deals too, cheaper and better than any cart. read more

A secret cafeteria style breakfast and lunch place in the Duane Morris office building in Center City. It's catered by Stephen Starr, which seems to be a big deal here in Philly. Don't eat too late because the place closes at 3PM. You can pick up a print out of the menu for the week by the cash register. They have little stations here. One station serves up grilled items, one does salads, another does sandwiches and another does pizza. There is a salad station here where you can have the staff create you either a large or a small salad ($4.50 and $6.50 respectively) Protein is an extra surcharge. You can get chicken or salmon. The line at the salad bar gets long though during lunch time. Pizza is $2.25 a slice. My favorite station is usually the global station. There is never a long line here. I had 2 crab cakes the other day with string beans and dijon mashed potatoes for around $9. For those who are on weight watchers...they even have a weight watchers section where they tell you how many points the meal is. There are a whole slew of microwaves in the area where you dine in case oou want to heat something up. Very convenient if you work close by. read more

While working on 17th and Market, I always visited Morris' Cafe. I always got the same dish - the Continental salad with matching dressing. It was always fresh, and just big enough to satisfy my hunger. Every employee I met was always quite pleasant, and actually remembered who I was. On a few occasions I brought my own lunch and sat around to enjoy the atmosphere. It truly is like a high school cafeteria for the working age! Beverages are sold pretty much room temperature. For the prices they charge they should invest in better refrigeration so that someone can purchase a cold soda or ice tea. Often ice machine doesn't work so that doesn't help. Kitchen frequently has a strong burning odor that fills the cafeteria. I would be more a fan of sandwiches than hot food here. Hours are very limited, café often closes early for events. read more
