This company charges 10% more for the same service that other reliable and dependable companies charge. The last employee they sent to our home discounted the wires on our sprinkler system so that he could come back and charge more for restarting our sprinkler system. In the spring I called the company and told them our landscaper was unable to restart our system. They told me they were unable to send someone to troubleshoot it. I called around and got another company come to check it. They found that the wires had been disconnected on purpose. I recommend Greenway which has very polite and responsible employees and charges less for the same services. read more

I became a client of this company only due to a buyout of my previous irrigation company. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I used to trust people more than I should have and did not watch the Technician while he was in my basement. soon after, I realized all the large Tonka trucks from my childhood that I was cleaning up for my grand children were missing, along with four painting drop cloths that were used to carry them out with. Later in talking to a neighbor whose office window overlooks that side of the house could see him carrying the white drop cloths that I remember seeing in his van. At the time, I thought it was a strange item to have in an irrigation van and parked his van oddly to shield the view. They claim their long term employee would never do such a thing. I ran a service business for 45 years, so I know how wrong this customer service is and see other reviews that seem to say the same attitude is normal for them. read more

We used this company for years and had small issues here and there. Two years ago we had valves replaced. They charged us for five but only replaced four. Six months later they said I needed five new valves! I only have eight! never refunded me the one they lied to me about. Then when we contracted them to repair the four old valves, we paid them and afterward found out they never replaced the last four. Thieves. read more

I was using my regular supplier for 15 years. After them have an inexperienced service person coming to my house in April and telling me I had a leak in the system and it would require a "special piece" of equipment in order to fix and it wasn't available due to new installations. I waited 6 weeks and finally contacted Morris & Bergen. They arrived and the service person had my system running in 15 minutes. It was a minor leak he say immediately and had it repaired in 10 minutes. Replaces a few heads and adjusted the others and set my timer. Will definitely be using them from now on. They were great to deal with owner directly checked on progress and made sure things were going well. I would recommend them we had half our system installed by our builder, who did a terrible job they came in cleaned it up and fixed and made a great system that waters all of our yard. I use their services for irrigation as does most of my family. Their customer service has always been on the terse side. But after a discrepancy with a price that was quoted to me and e-mailed to me, and confirmed by phone... a recent conversation escalated on both sides. There was a price adjustment because I did not have an extension cord. The technician removed a sprinkler control box, and in replacing it found he now needed an extension . Ultimately, he had to provide a wire, and I needed to pay for that as well as the extra time. Hmm isn't that all part of the fee to replace the box? Seems not. I already pay for a service contract, and was paying the fee for the replacement of the controller, but I guess the homeowner needs to have a full tool box handy too...just in case. I would hope in the future that when they quote a price and commit it to paper, they would add a qualifier about what could increase the final amount. It feels like going to a steak house and ordering sides. It all just keeps adding up. I certainly expect that as a long time customer, with a contract that I would not be dismissed. I would not recommend Morris Bergen Irrigation. As a long time customer, probably over 25 years, I can certainly see the customer service is no longer present. I was given an appt a month out to activate my sprinklers. I voiced my concern that my landscape is getting brown and dying in certain areas and that I needed to have someone out sooner. The receptionists did not care in the least. I've noticed the changes in this company over the years. It is only fair to add that the techs that come to service your home were always professional and knowledgeable. The negative review I am writing about is about the receptionists. On the average, most often tend to be very unpleasant and do not respect or value your lawn care needs. I spoke to a receptionist today and mentioned to her how her customer service approach was disappointing. She was unconcerned. She was dismissive own kept saying over and over "okay okay". I then mentioned how she has been rude in the past and the receptionist said well actually you haven't spoken to me before because I'm new. That being said, this approach seems to be the model they use for their reception orientation. I called another company I use for my Christmas decorations ... they were accommodating and attentive to my lawn needs and scheduled me for next week. read more

I was very disappointed with the work that was done at our house, They started the job on the price agreed upon(WHICH WAS SLOPPY) and left it unfinished and said they will contact us to schedule the completion as it is a different crew. We called several times to find out when this would happen (RUDE PERSON ) and was told it would be $1,000 dollars more then the quote given. We had sprinkler system installed about 15 years ago. I believe ONE year we didn't have to have one or more plastic heads replaced because they either leaked or stopped functioning. Over the 15 years we've pretty much spent as much on replacement parts as the original installation. Last year we were told we desperately needed a 7 valve manifold replaced. We did to the tune of another approx $1000. Two days later two more heads ceased functioning. I didn't bother calling. The system has been turned off for good and I'll go back to dragging hoses with sprinklers around, they never broke and no added costs. (Btw, the $50 heads they replace can be bought in Home Depot for $9.99). read more

M&B Irrigation is a good company. I have been using them for 10+ years. They are proactive in calling me to schedule the activation and wintertization of my system every year. We just put a swimming pool in our backyard along with some new landscaping & needed some new zones installed quickly. I found there responsiveness to be very good regarding my needs as it relates to planning, scheduling, timing and cost. Their workers are careful when entering your home and are required to wear protective covering over their feet so your house stays clean. I would recommend them if you are looking for a solid company to install or maintain your system. They also come out a few times a season to make sure everything continues to run properly & make any adjustments your system may need. read more

Phone calls not returned when you are unhappy with their service. If you do talk to the owner, he is rude and refused to accept that his company did not correctly fixed your system. WE had a sprinkler head leaking. Someone came in and replaced the valve on Monday 8/31/15 and we were charged $169. But the problem never went away. Then they sent someone else and this time it was the sprinkler head and they charged $112. Hopefully the problem is fixed. They also send an apprentice and charge extra money for this. This person is a kid who seems to be in training. Clever way to train and passing the bucks to the customer. Very untrustworthy. read more

After a few quotes, we went with Morris & Bergen as they were easy to work with, knowledge, courteous, and fairly priced! The crew showed up on time on expected date, were professional and clean! They worked hard all day, as we have a huge yard... even through some on and off rain showers! During installation, they noticed that one zone needed more sprinklers heads than originally quoted - they made the change without a fuse and free of charge - that's service! My wife and I were very impressed with how the team handled our lawn with such care, especially reseeding any area in need of it!!! Last year I had them install a new and comprehensive multi zone system on our commercial property. The land had some inherent "challenges" but they completed the job on time and charged a competitive rate. Called to schedule an estimate. On a Saturday in April, John and his worker came by ready to work and repair our sprinkler system. I explained this was just an ESTIMATE and by the way, it was my first estimate. We were given an estimate of between $200-$300 and instead of shopping around, which is my biggest regret, I gave the okay to John who was quite pushy and rushing me to make a decision to do the work. I agreed for them to do it on the spot, which I was surprised that they would as I'd figured they'd have to come back at another scheduled time to do so. Anyway, halfway through, John says "okay so we're at $400-$500 now, do you want us to keep going?" Are you kidding me, John, what type of scam are you running here? I told him I felt raped. Sorry to offend anyone here, but that's how I felt. I've NEVER felt this way. I'm a salesperson myself and work with dozens of salesmen and women each day. Could being a woman have had something to do with it? Absolutely! John has displayed bully tendencies and egotistical mannerisms. I don't know how he's been in business all these years. All I could do is pray for him because that is a super sad example of not only a businessman but a human being. SMH read more

After years of dragging sprinklers around our yard, we decided this past spring that it was time for an irrigation system. I collected 3 estimates, and the quote from Morris and Bergen was right in the middle of the three in terms of pricing and coverage. Everyone we spoke to was courteous & patient while we did our research and asked questions, and all of our questions, emails, and calls were responded to quickly. (Ultimately, it was their customer service that led to our decision to choose them over the lower priced option.) Their system has worked great - it covers multiple zones and the install process was tough for them because our property is rocky (I love that their guys just added any large boulders they dug up to our existing stone walls!) They also had to work around an existing electric dog fence, which they navigated without incident. The job was done on time and they didn't charge anything over their original estimate, even though I suspect some of the tough terrain was a surprise. We had a fabulous looking lawn all summer. We called them just once after installation to adjust a sprinkler head that was not fully covering in the direction we wanted, and they sent someone out within a day. I do wish, as a client, that we could adjust the sprinkler heads ourselves because I hate waiting on service calls. But I certainly appreciate having the "professionals" handle the system, and my first call for this type of request was responded to promptly. My only other, very minor, complaint would be that when we were doing all our homework, one of their "selling points" was the idea that the sprinkler control box would be located outside, as opposed to inside our garage or basement. I was told that a key benefit to this was that, if service was needed, I wouldn't need to be home waiting on some service window because they could access the control panel from outside my house. That was a HUGE feature for me, because I seriously hate service windows. So I was a little surprised, when we set up our appointment last week for winterization, that I was given a 3-hour service window and told I needed to be home so they could access our water. Of course. It makes perfect sense the they would need access to our water lines - but THAT definitely did NOT come up when we were collecting quotes and comparing companies and talking about the benefits of their outside control panel installation. I was fully under the, albeit mistaken, impression that with MBI, I wouldn't have to deal with ANY service windows moving forward, so in hindsight, I do feel a little stupid for not picking up on what I suppose should be obvious. And, of course I've now added two more regular service calls (spring and winter) to our yearly calendar (which would've been the same, I imagine, with ANY irrigation company that needs access to our water). Still - not having to drag sprinklers around all summer has been priceless. And the guy who arrived this last week to shut down our system was great - friendly, courteous, he arrived within the expected window, and he finished quickly. I would love to see them get their service calls down to a 2-hour window (especially for the "routine" stuff, like winterization!), but 3 hours is tolerable, especially when they showed up within their window. :-) We definitely recommend this company. read more

We started using Morris & Bergen County Irrigation last year, both for installation and to open and close the system. Their service is phenomenal -- from the folks working the customer service and scheduling center to the team that comes in to open the system or do installs. This year, the representative that opened us for the season, Dan, went above and beyond to find a leak that was causing one of the zones to lose pressure. Did not show up for 2 appointed times (even though I had a confirming email). Sent one technician when I specifically told them it would be a job requiring 2. Do yourself a favor and go find another company to install and service your sprinkler system. This company has very poor customer service. The woman who is the customer service person at the office is both inpatient and rude to customers. It also very difficult to get a timely appointment with this company. I signed up for their silver service. The customer service woman who called me to schedule an appointment at the beginning of the summer was both rude and inpatient with me and dismissed my concerns by assigning me an appointment time that was well into the summer. Far from ideal and against my better judgement I decided to overlook it. My experience with my fall appointment to turn off my system was the last straw though. This company makes appointment times with a 4 hour window. One has to wait around from 10 am in the morning to 2 pm in the afternoon,for example. We waited for 3 hours and 15 minutes before we decided to step out for an errand. Of course as luck would have it, the company service rep showed up while we stepped out. The woman who does customer service for them called me on my cell. Once again she was quite inpatient and once again rude. She was unwilling to have her rep wait a mere 10 to 15 minutes for us to return ! We did end up returning home just in time to see the company field service rep climbing into his vehicle to leave. While we waved at him and while he looked directly at us, he sped away in his vehicle at such a rapid pace that he ran the vehicle up onto the curb and sidewalk when turning into the side street some 50 feet from my home. Customers deserve to be treated respectfully and with patience. This company does neither. read more
