But that's pretty common these days, not just for Farmer's Market, but parking in general. Lots of food options and I don't just mean vegetables. You could pretty much have breakfast and lunch here. And enough so you can skip dinner. I almost wonder if there are more food options than other vendors. I didn't count. Don't get me wrong - still a lot of Knick knacks and other items to browse/buy other than food - maybe even something like I grabbed - a western cowboy hat. Finally got me one. Sorry - no pics. Anyway, it's busy, colorful, and fun, and it has that San Diego weekend energy. Definitely check it out if you like fresh food, people watching and spending more money than you meant to.

**August 2026: Sunday Morning Late Morning Visit**…read more I love visiting farmers markets, and this visit was a success. I was able to pick up some fresh baby blue eucalyptus plants for my shower, as well as lavender oils to really help with my aromatherapy relaxation routine at home. The Hillcrest Farmers Market happens every Sunday from 9am to 2pm and there are usually well over 150+ vendors set up along University Avenue and Normal Street. Parking is a bit tricky, but we were very lucky to find a spot in a nearby neighborhood. Once we got in, we found a great assortment of meats, sauces, dips, and more. In a somewhat hidden part of the trail, there's a bunch of exotic food options to consider, including flavors from Africa, as well as some tables where you can sit and enjoy the food. There are also flowers, veggies, eggs, honey, and pretty much anything you'd be interested in. I think we shopped for about 45 minutes as casual browsers, and it felt like a good amount of time to get a feel for the place. It's a great spot to support small businesses.

There's also a refrigerator near the meats that has grab and go containers of fresh salsas, guacamole and more. They carry a small selection of fresh bakery items and a pretty decent amount of shelf stable food as well. You can definitely find all manner of snacks and Mexican sweets, they even sell Paw Patrol piñatas! There's plenty of close parking in the shared lot. I personally love these little neighborhood markets, and this one is worth checking out.

They have lots of vegan options as well. All the vendors we have come across have been super friendly and down to earth. It's sometimes packed, but usually still enjoyable to walk around. They have tables to sit near the food stands with chairs. Definitely a must stop if you're around on a Friday evening!

The…read moreline can get very long for train tickets and waiting so go early if it's on your to do list. The market itself is about two blocks and some change. All of the vendors are really friendly & knowledgable. This farmers market is extremely dog friendly so be aware if you have allergies. The only downside to this market is how rude people can be when it comes to their dogs. We've seen owners let their dogs go to the bathroom just steps away from vendor tents and it's disgusting. Overall a really nice farmers market with lots of yummy food & local produce.

We've always wanted to get fresh, warm and delicious bread and pastries from the Chaupain Bakery stand, but their line has always been insanely long. Luckily enough during our visit this past weekend, the line wasn't as terrible when we passed by them--you grab that opportunity without dilly dallying because a minute later, that can change real quick. We got a slice of their caramelized onion quiche, a strawberry bar, a chocolate chip muffin, and a bag of their brioche buns. Sooooo yummy! We also got Amapola's banana pudding and it was divine! The perfect dessert for a sweet tooth. It's served chilled, so creamy and not too sweet. I love that you still get some banana chunks in there too. Will definitely get this again the next time we visit! I was also in dire need of more coffee that morning, so I decided to get some from Wipeout Coffee. I got a large Iced Hazelnut Latte with oat milk. I was so happy to get to try new coffee from a local roaster! It was pretty good--I really enjoyed my drink--just an insane amount of ice even after asking for light ice. Their coffee was just so crisp and refreshing. They also have all kinds of fresh and vibrant greenery, flowers, and produce that are all just so hard to resist! Unless something drastic changes, we'll always come to visit this farmer's market.

My favorite vendor here is Taste of Lao Paradise. The auntie here makes the best papaya salad. It's fresh, tangy, spicy, and sweet. It's a must with their sticky rice and lao sausage. I also love their bbq beef sticks. 10/10 The Salvadoran stand has amazing hand made pupusas! The meat, melty cheese and pickled veggies is pure love. Their empanadas are really good too. 10/10 Som Sauce! They sell this mango habanero hot sauce and it's so good! It's sweet, spicy and is very umami.
