This is a great little local market. The service is great and they have so many great items available. They've got a fresh produce section and a meat counter. There's also a refrigerator near the meats that has grab and go containers of fresh salsas, guacamole and more. They carry a small selection of fresh bakery items and a pretty decent amount of shelf stable food as well. You can definitely find all manner of snacks and Mexican sweets, they even sell Paw Patrol piñatas! There's plenty of close parking in the shared lot. Love Diego's market. Hey there are a lot of large Latino markets but this is by far my fav. I like the fact it's large enough to have everything including cool items like piñatas. The star of the show is the caniceria which has just a ton of variety. Multiple marinades and cuts. If you're lucky enough to show up on a weekend when he's cooking TJ dogs then you're in for a real treat. See you there. read more

Do not buy your produce here! This place has gone downhill since new owners took over. Purchased a watermelon. It was completely bad inside, decaying and smelled rotten. Returned it the next day because it cost $8. I got 6 avocados that were bad as well! ( I ate the price of avocados because they were 2/$1). The owner acted like he was doing me a favor by returning it. Instead of being embarrassed that he was selling that type of produce to people! He offered me a replacement because I didn't have the receipt even though the girl working there knew I purchased it the day before. I didn't want another one but took it hoping for the best. When I got home it was the same maybe worse. Haha! Threw that one out and decided my business will be going elsewhere from now on. Recommend the same for anyone that has had the same experience but doesn't have the time to do a review. Unless you like going given that place money and then coming home and throwing away everything you just bought. The previous owners were a class act, wish they were still there. read more

Went there last week looking for some fresh mint. They had mint but it was in a sad state. I went back today looking for some meat products and noticed a gentleman purchasing some freshly made carnitas. I decided to purchase a pound if the product for myself and I was not disappointed. That meat was tender and flavorful. Combined with some fresh corn tortillas you cannot go wrong. If you live in east county and want authentic carnitas then Diegos is the place to go. read more

A Mexican grocery store That's authentic? Nah no way... My thoughts when I moved out here. But I am amazed. This little spot (which isn't that little) has everything and more you could ask for! Glad to have found this spot and will be back for my cravings or delicious tortillas or food! They have a little ice cream, tostilocos , shop inside too.! Lot of good options. Been coming here for the last few months, the meat selection is one of best in El Cajon, they even carry cecina which is rare to find in San Diego, their tortillas and aguas frescas are very good as well , their hot deli items are amazing especially the cheese tamales. I freakin love this place! Not only do they have Mexican candy and other goodies but they have a stand where they sell aguas frescas and other Mexican antojitos. I usually come in for the aguas frescas and I came in last week for one. I decided to walk around after i got my agua and come to find out they also sell food to go. I was with my cousin and she ordered a CA burrito. I wasn't expecting much to be honest, but the meat was really good! It had a lot of flavor and it was tender. I admit it was a bit pricey, but these days everything is. Both me and my cousin decided that it was worth it and we wanna go back and try other thinhs from their menu. read more

This Market is freken AMAZING!!!!! I hated having to drive to Shelltown to buy real Mexican ishhh and then BOOM Diego's market comes along! They have a carnicería with fresh meat, produce, la Michoacana ice cream by the scoop and they carry Mexican candies!!!!! I used to have to order my medical candies online and had to pay for shipping, most of the time the candies weren't fresh, not anymore!!!! Their customer service is great as well, shop local!!! These small businesses deserve to stay open! I love love love having this market near by. read more

Some days the produce is amazing- worth going a lot and find what timeframe/ day works for you when they restock or get an order in.
