Unicorn Elote over at By.Rosaline food stand ($8)
    Jessica S.

As the name implies, this market occurs the first Friday of every month in the parking lot right in front of Anthem. My boyfriend and I randomly stumbled into this extravaganza having driven by and noticing the throngs of people gathering in excitement. To have discovered it was a vegan food fair! Didn't think we'd actually jaunt on through, nor would I have fathomed even ordering anything ... until I saw the *Unicorn Elote* at the By.Rosaline stand along with people nearby holding this ridiculously vibrant and cheery snack! I had just been craving elote at the taco place we had eaten at, so how completely perfect! Despite its vivid, dessert-esque, and flamboyant appearance, this is elote through and through. So buttery with a pop of zest, vegan cheese, and colorful tajin. Yum! I've seen rainbow elote before, but it was the first ever knowing about a 'unicorn' of an elote. A unicorn I found indeed! The caveat of these vegan food fairs is that they fall under that illustrious 'hipster' category therefore everything is a bit expensive. That magical, cheesy elote did end up costing $8! There were other vendors around, some selling vegan Mexican food, soaps, trinkets, etc. Just about the happiest little festival to have stumbled upon in North Park. You should pay it a visit if you just so happen to be vegan-curious. And, come to think of it, TODAY is the first Friday of September, so what perfect timing!

A destination night market for San Diego! The curated rotation of vendors perfectly balances savory and sweet for a full night of food. The vibes are always great and the music is jamming. The non-profit organizers, Vegan in San Diego, have truly created a magical, ethical, kind gift for the San Diego community.

Recently started adopting a primarily plant based diet. It's nice to have a variety of options to choose from in one place. Tried a few vendors and so far no complaints. These vendors have it nailed down and are producing wonderfully tasty eats!

Three guys and a gal set up shop with two EZ-Ups and a couple of flat tops for cooking. There were four sandwich offerings on the menu board. Classic Philly: steak, onions, & white American cheese The Works: steak, onions, bell peppers, mushrooms & white American cheese BBQ Chicken: chicken, onions, bell peppers, BBQ sauce & white American cheese Philly Bomb: steak, onions bell peppers, mushrooms, cherry peppers & white American cheese. All served on a quality Amoroso roll. I chose the Classic. It was a very good sandwich. The roll was excellent. The meat was tender, seasoned and grilled nicely. It was a little light on the onions and cheese, that'd be my only small complaint. Would I recommend? Absolutely.

Heck yeah! Why not? Since we didn't want to eat too much and wanted to try other things, we opted to share one Philly Cheesesteak. In it's simplified form, steak and cheese. It was so yummy! My husband even declared it the best he's had in San Diego. The guy asked if we were sharing and even split it on trays for us which was thoughtful and nice. The pickled veggies on the side was a nice touch and different. In fact, after we grabbed all our produce from the farmers market, we almost went back to purchase ANOTHER philly cheesesteak. Haha. But we had some other plans after so we didn't. Will definitely come back!
