We had a take away from here and the food wasn't bad. Felt a little awkward standing among the diners waiting to get our food though.

    Review Highlights - Morningside Spice

I finished off with the pistachio kulfi which the waiter informed me was homemade, it was delicious and my mum declared it 'magnificent'

We ordered on a Wednesday night just before a Champions League game and so it was quite busy with other people having the same idea of watching the match over a curry. We waited inside the restaurant and it is a lot more quaint and respectable than the exterior, although that isn't hard. I ordered a chicken bhuna with 2 papadums and a garlic naan bread, the prices here are pretty decent and for the quality and portions of food, it offers good value. The naan bread was one of the freshest I have had and not at all greasy, whilst the chicken bhuna was flavoursome and the chicken very fresh and tender.

However on a mission, I was and one part of the shop front actually stands up - "For curry lovers". I have tried my usual selection of dishes (biryani, madras, chilli garlic) and have to say the food was of good standard, rich spice flavours came through as they should and the meat has always been tender and flavoursome. Part of that flavour though comes from the fact that they use chicken thigh and breast, this does mean you may get the odd tough bit, but overall it is worth it. While the portions of curry and rice are roughly standard for an Indian takeaway (probably enough to feed you for two nights, if you compared the portion to a ready-meal) you get a big portion of pakora, served in a polystyrene box. The pakora, curry and rice was around £10 so not expensive either, given the quantity of food. All in all I would recommend Saiyem's if you stay in the area.

I ordered a wee bit of carry out from Kama Sutra for a Friday night at home celebration. Overall,…read morethe quality of the food was quite good. The items purchased included KADAI PANEER, LAMB KORMA, and FISH PAKORA. As usual, I will itemise my reviews for each of these foods. In terms of food quality, the most important aspect of a restaurant review, the food was truly SUMPTUOUS, RICH, and TENDER-MEATED. The kadai paneer, which contained paneer with stewed vegetables, was adequately seasoned, flavourful, and succulent. I will say, the quantity of paneer included was MINIMAL, but that is how these restaurants SCAM you: they give you a hefty portion of the cheap stuff, but are overly restrained when it comes to the proteinous goodness. As for the lamb korma, it was RICH. Served in a thique spicy and sweet coconut sauce as yellow as the yolk of a quail's egg, with tender morsels of a lamb's meat, this dish was tantalising. And, finally, the fish pakora. It was flavourful and spiced with a reasonable level of flakiness, such that it was moist but not soggy on the interior and crisp on the exterior. It was served with a delicious yoghurt sauce and a tiny rubbish bag filled with 'salad'. Overall, the food warrants four (4) stars. I have deducted one (1) star due to the LACK OF CARBOHYDRATE in this meal. Little did we know, the saucy dishes are not served with rice or naan. Fortunately, this was carry out and I had some mediocre Co-op naans on hand to seep up the many unctions. So, beware: you must order RICE or NAAN or another INSTRUMENT with which to consume your food, unless you prefer to simply drink the thique and rich juices as you would a cup of tea. Because this food was carried out and consumed in the comfort of my home, I do not factor service, ambience, or other in-restaurant factors into this review. That includes the supposed sex theme of the restaurant. Perhaps one day I will venture in for the full experience.

The Aubergine Mushroom Jalfrezi was absolutely tasteless and had the consistency of a very thin soup. The Mushroom Bhaji seems to have had a massive amount of spices dumped in that I could not eat it and I love the hottest curry. They even managed to burn one side of the Garlic Naan. All I could eat was the fried rice and all this for over £17. Will never order again from here, dreadful. Waiting times were over an hour.

No Cure for Common Cold…read more I wanted a really spicy curry to clear me of the dangers of the imminent cold I felt coming on, and was driving home from work through Bruntsfield. Knowing very little about the curry houses of brunters I took pot luck at this place. It's a well presented take away, which was part of the allure, and I had heard about them before. The menu was relatively standard, and I chose a Jalfrezi as I know this is a standard safe bet spicy number. Garlic Naan and a couple side dishes - yes I know, I am a pig. So, firstly, flavour levels were low, particularly in the curry, naan was fine and sides were a complete non-event. Secondly, there was next to no spice in this curry, now I know the brits apparently can't handle spice, but I can, and was bitterly disappointed at the lack of effort here. Seriously, take my advice and don't waste your time.
