I love this place. On the outside, it looks like an average street sushi store, but when you go inside, it's interior is actually quite nice! The workers are very nice and it's just a super calm atmosphere. I've come here so many times it hard to count. When I went to school near there, during lunch my mom and I would go if I had a spare in the afternoon, I would go for dinner with my friends, etc. It's a little $$, but definitely worth every penny. The fish is fresh and each dish is mouth watering. The food is really really good. My go-to order is the unaju and Philadelphia roll. My mom really likes their spinach dish and their sushi pizza. I've also gotten oysters and chirashi don. Everytime I've gone, the food has been AMAZING. The service is always the perfect pace and once again, it's just such a nice atmosphere. I love how it's completely cancels the loud Yonge & Eg (especially with all that construction).

Great nigiri. Oysters with ponzu jelly, scallions and tobiko were delicious. Good value for lunch. Pleasant service and atmosphere.

Gyoza with a side of plastic

Really no idea how this place has such good reviews. I ordered a takeout meal for one person cost me about $75 (and I left a $5 tip, unfortunately) First thing I noticed when I got home was that they forgot my rice and salad. OK fine, I can understand this happening sometimes but on my first visit and considering I was the only customer there at the time, it's not like they didn't have time to review the order. The portions for sushi/sashimii, tempura and gyoza were small but somewhat expected for a higher end joint. What I didn't expect was the sashimi being warm, smelly and overall low quality (I eat sushi all the time so I know what good sushi is). The salmon roe was warm and mushed up. BUT THE WORST PART! See pictures. The gyoza was thrown directly into the plastic take out box (when drenched in hot oil) and the plastic melted right onto my food. I have never been to a place where they don't put something (parchment paper or whatever it is) in the take out box below the hot gyoza/tempura for this exact reason. This was so blatant, and against common sense, that I have to wonder what the cooks are doing and thinking here. Are they trying to poison customers? Overall very bad. This place shouldn't be in business IMO.

My first yelp review! My friend and I came here for dinner. The owner greeted us with jokes and smile. Lol! Very funny and friendly. The service was extremely prompt. The restaurant was artfully decorated and spacious enough for large groups or special event. The price was reasonable, but the quality of fish is really good. So fresh. We had the sushi platter, great assortment! The tuna that came with it just melts in my mouth. Loved it! The restaurant has a great lunch time menu and sashimi/sushi/maki platters for anyone. Great Japanese/Korean restaurant near Yonge and Eglinton.

This premium sashimi was great!

We ordered the premium sashimi again on Mother's Day but we were disappointed this time. They didn't look as good as last time and the toro were smaller and the cut was not good- chewy and did not taste good. Not sure what happened.

I love this place! Definitely a hidden gem for me! Tried their 16 dollars lunch menu: sashimi one with 12 pieces of sashimi. But pay attention to the fish! There is butter fish and blue fin tuna! You can't even expect that for the price of 16 dollars. Quality of fish is good, everything is on point. Moreover, environment is chill, servers are friendly, not packed at all during lunch time, fantastic background music. What else can you ask for? Would definitely come again.

Been here three times. First dine in, very friendly staffs and fresh sashimi. Also washroom was very clean. I liked how the place has enough space so ppl don't have to squid in to find their tables. The rest two for the take out, warm food, but they had less salad than dine in. Hope they continue this lovely service.

Ordered takeout here once. The sushi is just okay, but a little pricy for the quality.

The quality of the meat stood out right away--tender, well-marinated, and easy to cook at the table without overthinking it. The short rib and beef slices were probably my favorites, with a really nice balance of flavor and texture. I also appreciated the variety of side dishes. Nothing felt like filler--everything complemented the main dishes nicely, especially the rice and small appetizers that kept things interesting between rounds. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, and the service was attentive considering how busy it gets. It's definitely the kind of place you go with friends, take your time, and enjoy the whole experience. Would come back when I'm craving something fun and reliable.

The beef was my favorite -- thin, tender, and cooked just right. Pork belly wrapped in lettuce with sauce was tasty, and lamb was a little tricky to grill but still flavorful. Seafood isn't the best for grilling -- shrimp and squid didn't have much flavor, and salmon and clams were okay. Veggies were solid though -- zucchini and mushrooms were cooked just right, and the grilled pineapple was sweet and delicious. Edamame was fine, takoyaki mostly batter but cute and tasty. Desserts were adorable -- caramel pudding, coconut, and banana popsicles were fun to try. The vibe is cozy but lively, perfect for couples. Grilling together was actually really fun -- taking turns, sharing, and coordinating made it feel like a little team activity. Totally enjoyed the experience, and it's a really playful, interactive way to enjoy Japanese BBQ!

What I really liked was that they had 3 options of warm water - Hot, Warm, and room temperature. Instinctively I knew this place cared about the clients digestive health. Though I'm sure if you asked for ice water, they would accommodate (my friend asked for no sauces in her maki roll). The fishes were plated very pretty and because it's sushi of course it tasted good. But I was surprised at the level of wasabi that was plated. Cleared up my sinuses for 30 seconds. The establishment is very clean and bright and a great place to head to if you're in a rush.

While they still do this they now have introduced a mini buffet of sides and desserts. If you order a rice bowl the mini buffet is included. If you only want the mini buffet it's $20.00. Because of this all the prices have gone up. Price range of rice bowls start at 21.00 and go up depending on your toppings. What you can find at the mini buffet: Rice Miso soup Takoyaki Potato Croquettes Salads Variety of pickled vegetables ie: radish, cucumber and kimchi Orange wedges Ice cream - green tea and vanilla Quality of the kimchi, cucumber and radish was disappointing, lacking flavour. Someone at the table went with a chicken karaage donburi and the portion of chicken and rice were very generous. The tempura donburi was a little disappointing. The vegetables included were all root based (pumpkin and sweet potato) with a couple of pieces of mushroom. It would have been nice to have zucchini and broccoli to be included in the mix. Regardless the portion was generous. Not sure the mini buffet is worth it though. So again...not quite a 4 but a little better than a 3.

The space itself leans more modern and clean rather than the typical dark, cozy izakaya vibe, which I actually didn't mind. It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent. The beef fried rice was straightforward but satisfying, one of those dishes that's easy to keep going back to between everything else. Drinks were a nice touch too.. refreshing, nicely presented, and added to the overall experience. Overall, this feels like a solid spot for a casual night out with friends. It's not overly traditional, but it's easygoing, shareable, and comfortable.. the kind of place you'd come back to when you just want good food and a relaxed atmosphere.

The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn. If you do try out this place, expect great katsuya.
