How the times have changed...not my personal experience but my girlfriend had been to this spot many years ago and had a good time. I guess it hasn't held up. Came by for a weekday dinner and got the following: - Crunchy spicy scallop roll - Crunchy spicy shrimp roll - Seafood Creamy Udon - Rose Tteobboki It was hard even getting our order in. While there are plenty of seats and elaborate decor (e.g. replica sakura blossoms and birds), the decor frankly made it hard to flag someone down and we waited quite awhile (along with other tables near us). There was nothing quite remarkable about the food as well - small portions but premium pricing. The seafood udon in particular was lacking in flavour as the toppings were watery. They've changed the menu here and there are no longer a lot of options for sushi rolls or Sashimi. Most of it are Korean hotplate dishes. The ones we happened to order were all on the oily side and swimming in the sweet spicy sauce. I think it is too pricy for what you are getting. Spicy Chicken Cheese was good though. Chicken was tender. The Spicy Pork on the other hand was tough. I also ordered the beef nabe pot dish and it came with a decent amount of toppings. In terms of drink specials they are doing 2 for 1 deals for soju. Which is a good deal. If you follow their Instagram they give you a free rice cake dish. read more

I love this place. On the outside, it looks like an average street sushi store, but when you go inside, it's interior is actually quite nice! The workers are very nice and it's just a super calm atmosphere. I've come here so many times it hard to count. When I went to school near there, during lunch my mom and I would go if I had a spare in the afternoon, I would go for dinner with my friends, etc. It's a little $$, but definitely worth every penny. The fish is fresh and each dish is mouth watering. The food is really really good. My go-to order is the unaju and Philadelphia roll. My mom really likes their spinach dish and their sushi pizza. I've also gotten oysters and chirashi don. Everytime I've gone, the food has been AMAZING. The service is always the perfect pace and once again, it's just such a nice atmosphere. I have been ordering from this place for 2 year... The salmon sashimi dish is no good. The fish didn't taste fresh. I would not recommend getting this dish. I was very excited to discover that Sushi Mori was opening a few months ago, as the sushi options in the immediate Yonge and Eglinton area aren't great. (Sushi Rock is passable but it's definitely not amazing.) I finally got my chance to try Sushi Mori's wares on a recent Tuesday night, and when we showed up around 6:00, the joint was completely empty. (We got a great table, at least!) The experience didn't start off too well, admittedly, as it took our server more than 10 minutes to take our drink order. But that minor hiccup aside, the service was generally pretty quick and efficient. We tried a few different dishes, including three separate rolls (Spicy Scallop, California, and Salmon). I love a good roll and these definitely didn't disappoint. Everything worked well and the flavors were definitely on point, with the one kind of sour note the fact that the rolls were a little smaller than usual. (Each roll consisted of six pieces, which ensured that we were still pretty hungry after the meal.) But portion sizes aside, the food was uniformly quite delicious. We also got the Sushi Pizza and the Sashimi Starter, and both were certainly above average. I enjoyed my Dynamite Hand Roll, as well. The place did fill up a bit while we were there, too, so hopefully Sushi Mori is here to stay. read more

Really no idea how this place has such good reviews. I ordered a takeout meal for one person cost me about $75 (and I left a $5 tip, unfortunately) First thing I noticed when I got home was that they forgot my rice and salad. OK fine, I can understand this happening sometimes but on my first visit and considering I was the only customer there at the time, it's not like they didn't have time to review the order. The portions for sushi/sashimii, tempura and gyoza were small but somewhat expected for a higher end joint. What I didn't expect was the sashimi being warm, smelly and overall low quality (I eat sushi all the time so I know what good sushi is). The salmon roe was warm and mushed up. BUT THE WORST PART! See pictures. The gyoza was thrown directly into the plastic take out box (when drenched in hot oil) and the plastic melted right onto my food. I have never been to a place where they don't put something (parchment paper or whatever it is) in the take out box below the hot gyoza/tempura for this exact reason. This was so blatant, and against common sense, that I have to wonder what the cooks are doing and thinking here. Are they trying to poison customers? Overall very bad. This place shouldn't be in business IMO. read more

Sushi Mori is currently the best Japanese restaurant in the Yonge and Eglinton area. The ambiance is quite pleasant - dim lighting, wooden tables, a sushi bar, and fake cherry blossom type trees. The menu has all of the expected options - starters, salads, soups, sushi, nigiri, sashimi and bento boxes. I ordered a rainbow roll and the salmon lover (4 pieces sashimi, 6 pieces nigiri and 1 spicy salmon roll). The prices are decent but not cheap. The salmon lover was $22 and the rainbow roll was $13. This was shared between two people. We probably could've eaten more but we were in a bit of a rush. The fish was fresh and the quality of the rolls was quite good - both in presentation & the ingredients used. The service was great. Our server checked in with us often and came by when it was the "last call" for a food order that evening. I was certainly concerned with how empty the restaurant was when we came for dinner. A decent sushi spot in Yonge and Eglinton neighborhood. I dined in for dinner with my husband and baby on Saturday night for the first time. We had grilled black cod, toro oshi, salmon avocado Tartar and tempura mori. The best dish was grilled black cod. It was very tender and flavourful. The portion was pretty big as well. Second favorite was Salmon avocado tartar. It was very refreshing and beautifully presented. Tempura was decent. Toro oshi was disappointing. Toro means tuna belly and it is supposed to melt in your month. However on toro oshi, toro was very very thin sliced and overly seasoned on top of it, we couldn't really taste it. I keep coming back here and can't say enough good things about Sushi Mori. This is a hidden sushi gem in the Midtown area!! While their hot items are delicious, the nigiri and sashimi will keep bringing you back time and time again. The cuts of fish are so thick and fresh, unlike those cheap all you can eat places. The majority of their seafood is also imported from Japan, so you will get that authentic taste and feel. Stand out items are their aburi sushi, botan shrimp (sashimi), and uni. Their botan shrimp will be unlike any other shrimp you've ever eaten - it is so fatty and melts in your mouth. Make sure you ask for the heads deep fried. Their sushi plates are also prepared beautifully with a garnish on each piece of nigiri (I'm talking GOLD FLAKES on your salmon!!) Their chirashi bowls are filled to the brim with stunning cuts of fish - I'm pretty sure they sneak in extra pieces with the premium bowl too. Even with the higher price tag, this place is definitely worth visiting. You will get more than your money's worth and you will leave so satisfied yet wanting more. read more

The restaurant was artfully decorated and spacious enough for large groups or special event. The price was reasonable, but the quality of fish is really good. So fresh. We had the sushi platter, great assortment! The tuna that came with it just melts in my mouth. Loved it! The restaurant has a great lunch time menu and sashimi/sushi/maki platters for anyone. Tried to love it. Really did. Our fav sushi spot around Yonge/Eg closed, so we tried Sushi Mori. First time was ok, no issues. Second time... they had changed their menu, which wasn't a big surprise. No biggie. I was there with 2 friends - two of us ordered a bento box, one ordered a roll. They both got their orders (at different times), but my bento box never came. And by never, I mean, never. I asked the server 3x, nothing. Got an apology, but no food. I wasn't even given the option of something else - they simply disregarded my order. I went back to work hungry. I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and went there again. So... Third time - my food was MIA again! There were five of us. My four friends got their food (3 bento boxes, 1 order of a roll and gyozas), except for me. I waited, waited... asked the waiter and his response? "They forgot." So I left. And I'm not going back. I love this place! Definitely a hidden gem for me! Tried their 16 dollars lunch menu: sashimi one with 12 pieces of sashimi. But pay attention to the fish! There is butter fish and blue fin tuna! Unfortunately there is more to consider when rating a restaurant and Mori leaves room for improvement. For the price I would expect a more sophisticated experience, not loud TVs blasting random reality shows. One was playing a show with animals getting operations at the vet. Blood and guts included. We were going to visit a different restaurant my friend recommended but ended up eating here. We've been to literally tons of different sushi places together: from all-you-can-eat to some of the most expensive places. And always thought you can never go wrong with sushi. Well you actually can... Salmon has been my lifetime favorite sushi so I definately went with that. It had some kinda spicy sauce in it which had a strange smell and a bit of too much end taste. My friend tried it and she disliked it as well. They explained that it was some sorta owner's special recipe. It definately needs an improvement if you want to call it special. Just had dinner here with a friend. He had the dinner Vento special, I had beef don and beef gyoza. Delicious on both counts! The service here is wonderful too. The waiter showed the customary Japanese politeness. The decor of the restaurant is lovely too. There is a lot of wood trim everywhere. I work around Yonge and Eglinton area and I've been dying to find a good Japanese restaurant in the neighbourhood, and I'm very happy with this place. First of all, it's spacious enough for me to go with a big group of people, which is hard to find in this area. Love that sushi isn't made with too much rice, and I like the quality of their sashimi.
