So... I'm a tourist. My family ventured into this pub for a bite to eat after our cruise ship…read moredocked at Greenock. We finally figured out we had to order food at the bar, and of course I got fish and chips. The food took some time to come out, but honestly it was well worth it. THIS WAS THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS I HAVE EVER EATEN. Maybe it's because I'm an American tourist and I haven't had enough fish and chips to make a fair assessment. But. I tell you. The fish was fried to perfection: flaky, crispy, and not too greasy. I typically hate peas, but these ones were sweet and fresh. The fries were also good. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this place with my family. I ate fish and chips about 5 other times while I was in the British Isles and none of those hold a candle to this place. Highly recommend for the fish!

A wetherspoons pub, that's where!! This pub, like many of the other wetherspoons was in a grand building with high ceilings and loads of seating. The toilets are big and bright and always clean. We were able to order some drinks and find a great table with a decent view of Greenock. My guy and I only stayed for a few as we were on our way to a concert at the Beacon, but we had high hopes of making it back after the concert for some snacks after checking out the substantial food menu. Unfortunately, we didn't get back from the concert before 11pm (when they stop selling food), but we did stop back in for more drinks and crisps on our way back to the hotel. The perfect night cap to an amazing night.

It promises Scottish and…read moreOriental cuisine but it is no different to any other indian restaurant in that you can get a Gammon Steak and a few dishes with chips. Perhaps I am wrong. It does differ in two regards :- Firstly, the meals are not as well prepared, the meats seem to be cheaper cuts over cooked for safety (Thankfully). The curries are stodgy and too brightly coloured to be safe. The reds and yellows look as if they have been stolen from the paint shop. Secondly, the service is very poor. It was both slow and inaccurate. In our group one meal was entirely forgotten. (Sadly though it did resurface - more than once) This place has changed hands a number of times in the last years and one has to wonder if the site is jinxed.

Thgis used to be just a resaurant only, and I have been there a nuber of times, and it is quite excellent place to eat. however it have been closed to rebfurshed, and it now have became a hotle and Restaurant. I have droped it a visit, and I was gobsmacked to see everythng have been changed and the service in the restaurant are still excellent. However, I have not yet viewed or stayed in the hotel yet Mind you this place is quite pricey, and it is suitable for well off people

Legend has it that the Pie is SO good, folk even get it to take away. There's a Sunday Pub Quiz, Saturday DJ, and sport on the big screens. So why folk want a takeaway is a mystery to me!

Recently refurbished, they have split the main bar away from the Bistro to allow children to enter and reduce the noise. Good plan! The menu has been overhauled and they don't have as many dishes on the menu as before which is a lot better for the kitchen ensuring quality over quantity. I ordered King Prawns with Calamari, my mom Haggis Fritters and my sister in law Black Pudding in Breadcrumbs with a Chilli Sauce. No complaints. They were tasty and well presented. We then ordered Balmoral Chicken, Fish & Chips and a Chicken Burger. Portions are extremely good for the price, food was cooked fresh to order and of a good quality. There was only 1 staff member within the bistro when I was in looking after 4 tables, which was okay but we did have to wait at times to be served; not her fault though. The dishes are a little expensive for a Bar Bistro in Erskine, but you'd expect to pay more if you dined in Glasgow for the quality and size of the portions. Our bill for 2 courses and numerous drinks for 3 people came to around £56. Not THAT bad when you think of it. All in all, the Whuppity Scourie is much better than it's predecessors and I hope it's hear to stay.
