If I could give 0 I would . All 1 and 2 star reviews are valid. I foolishly ignored them. I also want to say as soon as I gave him his 50% deposit, he changed his attitude. He shows up when he wants. He doesn't communicate well. When you hold him to his word, he becomes rude and condescending. I hired Michael to come and fix my door. His profile states this is something he can do. That is false. 2.5 days he had the door off my home, coming and going as he pleased. Tearing more and more into the structure of my door way. Both days I asked will you be done today "oh yeah yeah yeah" , yet for two nights I had 2 inch gaps around my door, unable to lock for the safety of my home. ( see photos of how he left my home ) On the third day, Michael told me he would be at my at 9am. He texted at 9 saying he wouldn't be there till 12. He had forgotten about an appointment. Keep in mind we are now on day 3 of no function or locking front door. I told him he needed to come and finish today, his response " I wasn't asking for permission ". He claims he was upfront about his all over the place hours, he was not, because I wouldn't have hired him. At this point I no longer had patience for his lack of professionalism, inability to do the work he claimed able to do or the amount of time it was taking. I called around to several commercial 24/7 door service providers. They weren't able to help, obviously I'm not a business, but they did offer me the names of their TRUSTED contractors. Two different contractors came in about an hour. Both shocked at the work that had been done on my home. Both shocked Michael had the audacity to leave my home in the way he did and that it had been three days to get to this point, which was awful. I texted Michael, and I told him he was fired. That he needed to come get his tools. I tried calling him multiple times, he refused to answer. I got several threatening texts saying that if I didn't pay him the rest of his money (which he then increased when sent me a finally invoice by almost 400$ - which I also have proof of), he would file a lien against my home , that he would sue me , that how dare I treat him like this. He also told me that he now felt "unsafe" and would only come collect his tools from my home if the Sheriff or Constable came with him. Because me, a single woman had made him feel unsafe. Let's get down to the math. Michael charged me 100$ for a service fee to come "see" my door. Then said he wanted 700$ for labor and 100$ for materials. Over 900$. Then turned around and added in 400$. So total over 1200$ for services never completed. Who has 4 days to allow no door on their home??? In our as he likes to say "verbal contract" he told me it would take a day . FALSE. The contractors who came told me they charge 350$ to fix the damage Michael did and 250$ to re-frame and hang the door properly. You do the math. He's overcharging for services, he's not reliable, from My experience he doesn't know what he's doing , hence me firing him. All images are after 3 days of work, with no progress, no locking door, nothing . One evening he asked if he could just leave the door propped up.... Are you for real! I'll also note, I was not impressed with his communication right after sending him the deposit. I asked for it back before he even began and he refused and said he would not increase his price. That was a false statement on his part. I'm sure based on his responses to other peoples awful experiences with him , he'll give excuses. And say it's the customers fault. If it slithers it's a snake. There is no justification for this kind of behavior. I don't care how badly you need money. You don't take advantage of people. Let my horribly expensive $$& mistake, be your lesson as well. Don't let this happen to you. Due to volatility of this experience , I'll be keeping all documentation, text messages, photos etc from him, forever. As I don't trust this man. Awful and traumatizing experiencing. I almost didn't leave a review until he added on the several hundred more dollars. I hope this helps one less person get scammed. I've sent all documentation and information to my friends. So they can avoid. Hope the money you extorted from me, goes to something worthwhile. read more

My Monday morning started out very unexpected with a car backing into a fence. After using Yelp to request quotes, Michael with More Than Handy was one of the first to message me and actually came out that evening to measure and assess the fence damage. I asked him if he had some netting or caution tape to put up and he didn't have any; however, he went to Home Depot and came back and put up the tape for safety (before I even paid him)! He sent a quote later Monday night and Tuesday he came and delivered the supplies and placed the 4x4 post and came back today (Wednesday) and finished the job. I've attached before and after photos for a fence repair done in under 48 hours at a fair price. Michael was quick to respond and very professional. After talking with Michael initially on Monday, he gave me the impression of a determined hard worker and his efficiency and the end result confirmed my assessment. Michael responded very quickly to my request on Yelp. Setting up the initial appointment for my stove repair/burner repair was easy. Certainly, he is very friendly, affable, and seems overall smart and handy. I thought his fee to show up was a bit high, although the hourly rate seemed to be reasonable. Unfortunately, as soon as Michael left, the fix failed. Michael promised he could come back out to fix things, but has been generally unavailable and unresponsive over a month+ of texting to arrange something. Now I have to hire someone else. It's unfortunate because the issue was time sensitive. Generally, the lesson learned here is to hire a larger service company that has backup. read more

My suv needed a good detailing job since I have children daily in my vehicle. The job Michael did was awesome! I haven't seen my suv so clean inside and out since the first day I bought it! There are just some people you know are doing honest work, and it's such a breath of fresh air to find someone who does good work in a good way. He came to my house during the unprecedented snow storm, wearing a mask (thank you, pandemic), and helped fix my water heater after it went out. He stayed and made sure things were working, and promptly followed up with more research after the visit to make sure everything was running smoothly. He quickly fixed my kitchen leak and explained what he was doing and why this would solve my problem, giving me full confidence in his skill. He was supposed to take care of 2 other handyman work never completed it and took off with my supply I bought from Home Depot. Upon my initial outreach to get service and a quote- Mike was very responsive - locked down a date - we scheduled in advance to lock it down, and I kept asking for a quote....he would say it was coming, and it never did, had an excuse each time as to why he could not send or that it was coming (and it didn't) then he just stopped communicating----so needless to say did not use him - he may do good work but the extremely poor communication and then just blowing me off is not really a way to engage a customer - if he wasn't interested that is fine, could have said so vs committing and then stringing me along read more

Michael is incredible. I moved to Austin 4 months ago and recently purchased a house. Michael completed my To Do List in just a few hours. I needed bathroom fixtures and a closet shelf installed. He put in my baseboards in the kitchen and did a lot of caulking. Loved that Michael was able to show up so quickly during SNOVID-19 in Austin to help with a leak in our ceiling. Michael came out to fix a small leak in my roof, and replaster and repaint a bedroom ceiling inside. He did a great job, and was extremely meticulous. In the process he found that part of my roof had rotted out. He also did that section of the root, and again did a marvelous job. read more

Michael was hired through House Happy Concierge service for fixing a leak under the kitchen sink. During the appt, I had asked if he was able to install a kitchen sink for me which he agreed and charged $100. Not too long after the sink became very loose. I contacted him on 12/10 to let him know. He responded advising he would come out and tighten it up. We agree he would come on 12/14. 12/14 comes NO RESPONSE. I text again on 12/16 NO RESPONSE. I text again on 12/17 letting him know I was unhappy and that I paid him for a service which was not done properly. He finally responds apologizes and says he will get back to me on 12/18. 12/18 NO RESPONSE. I let the holidays pass and reach out to him again on 1/3 NOTHING. My fiancé reaches out NOTHING. I hate to write bad reviews BUT if he did this to us, he will do it to someone else. This is not someone who values his work or his customers. Save your time and money. read more

I needed a faucet replaced. Michael called back within the hour. Then he was at the house to do the work within 3 hours. He was delightful to talk to, reliable to a fault, courteous in answering my questions, and extremely fair in his pricing of the work. While he was working on the faucet, he pointed out a few places that were also leaking. So we went to the store for parts and he fixed those, too. I couldn't be happier with his work.
