Local restaurant with a cool laid back vibe. Very friendly and informative staff. All my friends enjoyed their food. The Broiled Whitefish was was very tasty.

Grilled chicken sandwich and onion rings

We'd heard the ads on the radio so drove down from the UP. The hour and half drive was well worth it. The prices seemed high until our order arrived. The portions were huge! The waitress convinced me to try the onion rings and I was not disappointed. I even snagged a piece of their homemade peanut butter pie to take home. It was incredible. We will definitely be back!

Our vacation rental in Northern Michigan was in my words, "in the middle of nowhere". Imagine our surprise finding a good restaurant about eight miles past the middle of nowhere! Moose Jaw Junction is located as the sign says in "Downtown Larks Lake". I'll admit I had low expectations when I arrived but the only negative I could come up with is there was no cell phone coverage! Moose Jaw is both a popular bar and restaurant that from my impression serves locals and vacationers alike. There is a great menu with daily specials. Ribs were the special so I had to try them. They were meaty and flavorful with a really nice sauce. While I prefer the type that don't "fall off the bone" these did and were still quite good. Others in our party had whitefish, perch, and chicken fajitas. All enjoyed their meals. In fact, we went back two more times-once for lunch and another night for dinner. Service was outstanding all times we visited Moose Jaw. My feeling has been when you're located in a mall, crowded area or "in the middle of nowhere" you can relax your standards because by necessity, people will still beat a path to your door. Absolutely not the case here. If I ever return to this area, I'll definitely be back. https://s3-media1.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/Rl5-https://s3-media4.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/ABxRbfgQPfInZpQxUmlLHA/168s.jpgO1mjXWvr9ZiF3IOTGw/168s.jpg

Definitely a place to consider when you are in the mood for Mexican food. We stopped by on a Friday…read moreevening in June and were one of a handful of diners. Outside the fray of downtown Petoskey, El Cilantro has a much more relaxed vibe. It's close to the state park and ideal for hungry campers or bikers riding from Petoskey to Harbor Springs. The server definitely gets five plus stars. Helpful, fun and attentive. We enjoyed the complementary chips and salsa while waiting for our food. Our shrimp tacos, which we shared, were enough for two or one very hungry person. They looked appealing, served in a casual "basket" plate. Though everything was fine and satisfying, we both felt there was a lack of seasoning that would have made our meal next-level. We are from Southern California and may have higher standards and more experience with Mexican cuisine than most. The level of flavoring and spice would surely appeal to the palate that does not crave much heat or traditional spices. As campers, we will definitely keep El Cilantro on our list to visit for future trips.

We needed a New Mexican place to love in the area, and El Cilantro was perfect!…read more The service was incredibly friendly and fast and the food was delicious. The shrimp tacos were outstanding- best we've had! The Birrias were perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I also really loved their salsa - freshly made and you could tell. We used to visit this location years ago when it was Scallywags, and it felt a little nostalgic!

What an absolute surprise! This little order-at-the-window restaurant is amazing and located inside…read morea well-known vodka-gin distillery on a country road between the Michigan Lake-lined cities of Petoskey and Charlevoix. Crazy that this Mexican food eatery with a small yet delicious menu sits within a 42,000-square-foot building that formerly served as an equestrian center. Now it's an eatery inside several rooms - a part of the largest distillery in Michigan. The BIG room, on a colored, swirling and polished cement floor is decorated with couches, picnic tables, a large screen for videos and corn-hole boards and other games. My spouse and I ordered a quesadilla filled with chicken, avocado, peppers. onions and cheese ($16). YUM. Prepared on a 10-inch tortilla, it was served with limey-tasting sauce of sour cream in a tiny ramekin. We picked it up at the window in the long hallway on the side of the distillery and ate at a picnic table with our bottles of Mexican Coke and Lime Jarrito in the big hall. Although the price is a bit more than we usually spend for a top-notch quesadilla, we probably will return for fish (cod) taco $6.00. The only major drawback is the distance between the parking area and the restaurant and distillery. It's up a myriad of steep steps, although there is a drop-off area near the building for those who are physically impaired.

The portion is HUGE and they are delicious! All delicious, and fresh food. Friendly staff. And did I mention the food? I will be talking about it for hours. Grab some food while you sip on some delicious craft cocktails, the vibe is amazing.

I found Rodrigo's Tex-Mex online via a Google search. from home in Chicago. We had a long drive…read moreahead of us and we had been on the road for well over 8 hours. WE WERE VERY HUNGRY! We found ourselves inside of Rodrigo's at capacity and there was a 20 minute wait so we settled for seats at the bar as we were needing to ingest some flavorful cuisine. As it turned out sitting at the bar was a very worthwhile experience. We ordered our drinks which were prepared with precision and care right in front of s as our appetizer was served. We opted for the Rodrigos Queso with beef smothered in delicious creamy Mexican queso along with lots of black pepper and a hint of jalapeno! ! Possibly the best I have ever had! I actually inquired how it was made. The staff were very fun and friendly and we were both equally impressed with out entrees. My friend has fajitas and i went right for a trio of tacos. Traditional soft traditional tacos with shrimp, carnitas and beef. Full of flavor. The tortillas as well as the chips were all made in house and were over the top. Going to a touristy destination in far north Michigan the skeptic in me did not expect quality Mexican food but was wrong. Rodrigo's far exceeded my expectations and was filling thus solving our hunger issues and we had a pretty good time as well. Big thanks sand applause to the cooks and the staff at a wonderful and worthwhile dining experience.

Also fill up the first complimentary salsa bowl because then you charge for more when it's like 4 oz for two people? Charging for extra chips also a bit annoying if you're charging outrageous drink prices. The positives- our friends loved their soup, beer was cold, margaritas $15 which again is pricey considering your charming $20-25/entree. I get inflation has hit us all but I doubt we will be back. Red mesa in Boyne is closer, just as tasty or tastier and about 30% cheaper. Place is tiny. Couldn't move around the dining room but it was cute and themed
