We just rented four tuxes plus one shirt from this location for my wedding…read more Our tuxes arrived the Wednesday before a Saturday wedding for the first fitting. We were told when we arranged it in October that they would be in a week ahead so that everybody could try them on. My tux had the wrong size vest (couldn't be buttoned) so they had a replacement sent express from Toronto. It arrived the day before the wedding but nobody could be bothered to call me to say it was in so I finally got it at 4:40pm on Friday. One groomsman had a jacket that could be buttoned as long as he didn't breath and the other got a tuxedo shirt with no studs, just cufflinks. I discovered these two problems the morning of the wedding. No professional tailor would let somebody try on a jacket that clearly doesn't fit and neither say nor do anything about it. As for the missing studs, the groomsman was told "The tie covers the button holes, you'll be fine." Unbelieveable! When we returned the rentals and asked about the issues, I was told "Impossible, we have extra studs" and he ran off and started rummaging through a drawer in the fitting area, where he found none! I am currently drafting a letter to Grafton Fraser (the owners of Tip Top) and to Freeman (the rental supplier) and will update this review if/when I hear back.

When we recently returned to have the ring repaired, we were informed that the warranty would not be honored because the company had previously gone through bankruptcy. As a customer who paid specifically for lifetime coverage, I am extremely disappointed that the warranty is no longer being recognized. I believe customers should have been clearly informed of how a bankruptcy could affect warranty obligations.

my brand new linen dress, individually made by a local artisan in parksville, was ruined. somehow…read morebleach got on the bottom of my dress, and, it was never properly altered. straps cut too short, insert area under arms still not pleated and gaping ( after a second alter ) and the rest of my material not returned with my dress. still need alteration after 2 tries and this was a simple change. I could have hand sewn a better fit. store owner refused to aknowledge negligence. tried to tell me my dress was bleached prior or made wrong in the first place. no! that's offensive to the local artisan I bought it from. i would never recommend this for anything. I want to caution others of their inability to do proper, simple alterations and even somehow bleached the bottom of my never worn dress. I paid then forthe alterations ... but they ruined an expensive, never before worn, hand made linen dress.

I'm from Seattle, but recently got married in Victoria. After doing some local research I found Capital City Tuxedo came highly recommended. Sid and his team are extremely nice and attentive. It's a family owned business and they really care about their craft. They have an on-site tailor, so the alterations were fast and accurate. My groomsmen all told me it was the nicest fit they had had with a rental, and we received lots of compliments on the overall look. Thank you Sid and staff for all your help!
