Beware of The Nashville Handyman - Unlicensed and Costly Mistakes…read moreI hired The Nashville Handyman, owned by Chad Weideman, expecting professional service, but instead, I ended up with severe property damage and thousands of dollars in unexpected repairs. His crew used a mechanical trenching machine that broke my sewer line, and rather than informing me, they covered it up with bricks, gravel, and dirt, leading to major plumbing failures over time. Upon further investigation, I discovered that The Nashville Handyman is not licensed to perform this type of work, which is illegal in Tennessee under T.C.A. § 62-6-503. The law states that unlicensed contractors may be held liable for treble damages--triple the actual repair costs. Even after being presented with undeniable evidence, they refused to fully take responsibility for the damages they caused. If you care about your home and finances, avoid this company. Always hire a licensed and reputable contractor instead.

In the past, I have always opted for large scale pieces of furniture but with the layout of the new loft, this approach was neither practical or cohesive. So. I have finally decided to check out the IKEA approach but with convenience thanks to ModerNash. That's right... no voyage to Hot-lanta to shop or pay costly shipping charges. Nope, none of that nonsense. All I have to do is choose what I want straight from the IKEA catalog and if I have any questions or need input, the staff here is happy to indulge me with their expertise and design skills. The showroom here is helpful as it features a nice edited version of lighting, storage, furniture, accessories, appliances, and more! The mister surprised me by purchasing a couple of fantastic overhead lights for my space ($39 each) and even though it was weeks later before I was able to schedule an electrician in who noticed that one of the lights was slightly damaged, ModerNash still swapped out the light for me. No. Problem. My understanding is that that they trek down to IKEA on Wednesdays so you must place your order by Saturday evening to ensure that your order make the cut-off for that week. You then are able to pick up your goods on Friday. The owner was super helpful and friendly along with any of the staff that we have come across. We requested a quote through Yelp, and Barry replied within a few minutes. He gave us a price range, depending on time, which was reasonable. This was on Friday night, and he was able to come by Sunday afternoon to do the job. They worked efficiently and carefully, taking good care of our walls, assembled the bunk bed well, and chatted with my son (who thought they were so cool) much of the time. They came in at the low end of their estimate, and were also able to take the packaging away for disposal, leaving our house nice and neat. We will definitely use them again!
