MOONSHINE BEACH @ PACIFIC BEACH One of my favorite spots to go out with my friends, the lines are always out the door, but it's worth the wait! It's a $10 fee on a weekend (+ Friday) and free during the week. There is free hot dog or burritos when you enter (the BEST part), and several parts in the place, there is also Karaoke, takes a while to get up there because it's first come first serve. The space where all the music is feels like a concert, it's huge and has lovely lights and a great atmosphere, sometimes it can get overheated. Overall, I'd come back here for the karaoke and hot dogs, it's the best that a bar/club can give you. Highly recommend stopping by.

I try to always come here for 49er games! Been coming here for a few years now and it's always a blast. Even worth the 1.5 hours I have to drive at times if I'm not working out in San Diego. Such a fun vibe from start to finish. For anyone who is new, the doors open an hour before game time (ex. 10am game then 9am opener for loyalty card holders and then 9:30 for non-loyalty). These cards are given out at the very first game of each season so make sure to show up then cause they are a nice perk to have! Half time always has $2 fireball shots so definitely get yourself one of two of those!!

It's cute for what it is-- a country bar for college kids. The drinks weren't very strong, but they sure were cheap. Bartender was friendly enough. Line dancing was very "San Diego" style but everyone seemed like they were having a good time.

Best place to watch a 49ers game!!! Drinks are cheap, food is solid (especially the fries and pizza!) and great vibes! Service is great, bartenders are fast and nice, really no complaints. Get there early on game day to get a table as it gets packed! Or you can get a loyalty card for the season which lets you get in extra early to secure a spot. It has everything you want for a sports bar!

Ay whaddup. This place is 100% not my vibe type shit. Kinda wild had to pay 10 whole bones to get in this piece. Racing machine is pretty lit tho, set 3 top scores, look for XxALLDAYxX on the leader boards. Drinks are fun I appreciate the buckets of Buena Beers those things get me rockin. Outside areas always cool if you wanna make sure the honeys can hear the fire game your spittin. If your not nice like that, keepin it player on the dance floor is always a sure bet for some lady attention. What really keeps the ambiance fresh is my guy Donald, this guy is a straight rock, holding down this place. If it wasn't for this buster I don't know if this place would still be in business. Keep up the good work Moonshine Beach, I'll see you Saturday

I have wanted to come to Moonshine Beach ever since my last San Diego trip, and this time, me and my friends stayed in Pacific Beach, so it was an easy walk! If you're into country music, this bar is perfect for you! They have a corner for karaoke, arcade stuff, line-dancing lessons, and a DJ late at night. My friends and I each ordered a bucket drink as well; I got the BRB! drink and loved it! I do wish they had a bit more alcohol in them, but it was still very good. Moonshine Beach even had a $1 menu that had things like pretzels, hot dogs, etc which was pretty cool if you're looking for food on a budget!

Donald the bouncer, I love this guy!

Moonshine Beach is one of those rare nightlife spots that manages to feel both electric and welcoming at the same time. Tucked away in San Diego, it's more than just a bar--it's a full experience, a place where locals and visitors alike come together for music, dancing, and memories that seem to stick around long after the lights dim. On any given night, you'll hear a mix of country hits, pop anthems, and live bands that get the whole room moving, but what sets Moonshine Beach apart is the way the entire place feels like a community. The wooden décor, the expansive dance floor, and the ever-energetic crowd give it a country-roadhouse-meets-beach-party vibe. It's casual enough to walk in wearing boots and jeans, but also polished enough that you can celebrate a big night out with friends. Of course, a bar is only as good as the people who run it, and Moonshine Beach excels in this department. The bartenders are fast, friendly, and somehow manage to remember faces even on the busiest nights. The DJs and performers keep the energy high without letting the music feel repetitive. But the unsung heroes of the experience are the security staff, and among them, Donald stands out as the true guardian of the door, the floor, and the overall spirit of the venue. From the very first moment you approach Moonshine Beach, Donald sets the tone. He's not just another bouncer checking IDs with a scowl; he's a professional who understands that hospitality starts outside the entrance. His presence is commanding without being intimidating--he manages to create a sense of safety while still being approachable. For new guests, his warm greetings and easygoing attitude help ease any nerves about entering a packed venue. For regulars, seeing Donald at the door feels like a reassuring sign that the night will run smoothly. Inside the bar, Donald's role becomes even more important. Moonshine Beach often gets lively--hundreds of people dancing, celebrating birthdays, singing along to their favorite songs. In that kind of environment, security staff can sometimes fade into the background or, worse, become overly aggressive. But Donald strikes a balance that few can manage. He's attentive without hovering, firm without being harsh, and he always treats patrons with respect. Whether it's calmly diffusing a disagreement on the dance floor or helping someone find their way out after a few too many drinks, Donald does his job with an almost effortless sense of grace. What's remarkable about Donald is that he doesn't just maintain order--he enhances the fun. Guests often talk about how his positive energy adds to their night. You might catch him exchanging a quick joke, offering a friendly nod, or making sure everyone feels included. In a place where the atmosphere relies on people letting loose and enjoying themselves, knowing that someone like Donald is watching over everything makes it that much easier to relax. He embodies the idea that security isn't just about keeping trouble out; it's about creating an environment where good times can flourish. Beyond his immediate duties, Donald represents what makes Moonshine Beach such a beloved spot in San Diego nightlife: consistency and care. In an industry where staff can sometimes feel interchangeable, Donald leaves a lasting impression. Many guests say that their favorite memories of Moonshine aren't just about the music or the drinks, but about the people who made them feel safe and welcome--and Donald is at the heart of those stories. It's no exaggeration to say that he's part of the identity of the bar itself. Moonshine Beach already has all the ingredients of a great venue: a high-energy dance floor, a fantastic lineup of live performers, quick service, and an atmosphere that makes every night feel like a celebration. But what elevates it above other bars in the city is how it combines those features with genuine hospitality. Donald is the clearest example of this hospitality in action. He's not just doing a job; he's creating a space where people can have fun, feel safe, and want to come back again and again. If you're looking for a bar that blends the excitement of a concert venue with the friendliness of a neighborhood hangout, Moonshine Beach is the place. And if you're lucky enough to meet Donald while you're there, you'll understand why so many people mention him by name when they talk about their best nights out. He's proof that one person's professionalism and kindness can elevate an entire establishment. Moonshine Beach would still be a great bar without him--but with him, it becomes unforgettable.

Fun ambiance. They play country at the beginning of the night, and eventually play throwbacks/house as the night progresses. Perfect place to go out with a big group. Big stage with live performances and DJs (depends on the night.) Cover is typically $10. Make sure you get the free, food tokens when you pay for cover. 10/10 recommend!

Ask the Community - Moonshine Beach

Is this a 49er fan hangout on Sundays?

    It is a 49er bar.

    Are dogs allowed?

I did not see any dogs inside however I did see several in the back area where the the taco truck is.

How's the dancing on a Saturday night here?

The line dancing goes from 8p-10p and they teach two different songs each time. It's not a Tuesday's night feel but it will satisfy your line dancing needs!

Are you guys not a 49ers bar anymore?

I'm looking for a place to watch the Niner games too!!! Let me know if you find a spot please!

Is this mostly a line dancing bar or two step/partner dancing bar?

No. Sometimes there's dancing or special events up stairs though.

    What's the happy hour?

Last year around this time we peeked our head in to see the space, but didn't stay. Located upstairs, the venue is large and well-lit, with windows overlooking Pacific Beach and the boardwalk. When we arrived, we were greeted by a local patron at the bar. He noticed my 49ers hat and made a joke about keeping me and the owner away from each other, because he is also a Niners fan. Immediately loved the vibes. There were a decent amount of people there for it being Christmas Eve, but it was still pretty open. We were seated at a long high-top table for our group of 7, with one kid. The restaurant was all decorated for the holidays, and they had a pop-up situation with some fun themed drinks and even a giant inflatable igloo for people to play in! We ordered a variety of beverages, many from the "Tinsel & Tides" menu, including the Candied Cranberry Punch, Maple Smoked Old Fashioned, and Spiced Peartini. All of which were fun, and received positive feedback on taste. In addition to the holiday drinks, they have quite an extensive list of around 14 cocktails, and 2 mocktails. The cocktail prices range from $15 - $18, and even have fun little photos on the menu next to the description. They have a section of 6 specialty margaritas, over a dozen canned beverage options, and over 2 dozen beverages on draft. You can find an entire page of wine options. From bubbles, to rosé, to whites and reds. You can buy it by the glass or the bottle. Beyond drinks, there's a nice looking food menu. Mostly seafood and Asian inspired, the menu featured items such as crispy calamari, crab Rangoon dip, ahi tuna poke, ceviche, sashimi, and various sushi rolls. There are several soup and salad options, as well as a dozen or so entree options, and a half dozen side dishes such as fries, coleslaw, veggies, and mac & cheese. There's also a brunch menu, which is available Saturday & Sunday from 9am - 2pm, and includes some boozy drink options like a Bloody Mary and bottomless mimosas. There are around 8 entree options, and another 8 or so brunch themed sides. While we didn't get to try the food this time around, the menu looked good enough that we are planning to come back for a legit meal. There is an "Oyster and Martini Wednesday" from 3pm to close, where oysters are 50% off, and martinis are $10. We happened to be there on a Wednesday, however the deal wasn't applicable due to the holiday. Our server, Destiny, was friendly and helpful with info and drink recommendations. The vibes were great here, and everybody was very welcoming. This is definitely a place we'll be adding to the regular rotation during our trips to PB! IG: @bbnem.eats

As I understand it, Moray's is the outside/patio dining portion, while Oceana is the indoor fine-dining situation. I believe they pretty much have very similar menus, with Oceana having some additional high-end offerings. Came out to Moray's to visit my cousin who was in town for work. Since my cousin now has her most adorable infant, she wanted to keep it simple and dine at the hotel restaurant, which was fine by me. While I waited for them to come down from their room, I got us a patio table and ordered a delicious $10 draft. Mixed drinks were all hovering around $19 each. The server was friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which I greatly appreciated. I went with the reasonably priced Steak Frites, $36, which was to stated to come with Muenster cheese and caramelized onions on top, and served with a side chimichurri. While the steak was wonderfully cooked to a solid med. rare as requested, it seemingly had very little flavor. Perhaps had it not been covered with a wealth of some DEEPLY caramelized onions and an abundance of Muenster cheese, I might have been able to taste the seasonings and/or the beef. While I love some deeply caramelized onions on a salt-laden burger, the extent to which these were caramelized left them seeming soggy and too sweet for the steak pairing. Add in the several slices of melted Muenster cheese on top, and flavourwise I could hardly tell I was eating a steak. Ultimately, the abundance of toppings overwhelmed the steak. The accompanying chimichurri was also a little strange. While I appreciate that it was diced and not blended, it was very heavy on the oil, while very light on the herbs. The frites were nicely salted and good on their own, however a decent amount became soggy from being under the steak. The burger on the other hand looked excellent. My cousin devoured his in what seemed like a split second. I could have went for the burger, however at $27 I perceived the $36 steak frites to be of a better value. Again, shout out to our server. They were on-point! Thanks Moray's!

I had gotten something similar to an Espresso Martini, but the drink fell short in both the taste and the presentation. My beer battered fish tacos were good, but nothing extraordinary. I believed they lacked a bit of taste...perhaps seasoning? The jam burger on the other hand, extremely juicy and flavorful! The fries were nice and crispy & seasoned. Overall, the food and drink were a bit inconsistent, but it may also very well be the items I ordered. For that, I'm docking it one star, but again it may come down to my taste buds and previous items I've had from other grills. I'd definitely give it a try, again, and keep exploring their menu.
