It was an experience, indeed. I highly recommend everyone to do it. I now understand why they say…read moreto do it at least 3 times before making a final decision on whether you like it or not. For the first time, you don't know what to expect as you see this container with water in it. However, once you get in and you close the door, you lay back and float.. instantly. There is no need to "close your eyes" because it is that dark in there to not have to do it. You (may) will have a feeling that you your body spinning in there but you aren't. I can't explain it, but you have to remind yourself that you are supported by the water that contains 1,000lbs of Epsom salt. You can easily let your mind "freak yourself" out by wondering where the door is, but again, if you lay down the way you started the door will be at the same spot when you closed it. The Epsom salt does burn/iirritate your eyes.. So don't touch/rub your eyes once you submerge your hand in that water. There are towels to use-provided for you. You do go in with no clothes, so you are butt-ass naked, but don't worry, the couple gives you plenty of privacy to do what they instruct you to do...i.e. The shower before and after getting in. Another way of imagining how it feels to come out after 90mins is like when the character Neo (from The Matrix) discovers that he is in a pod filled with red fluid with numerous cords attached to his body. Similarly like that without the cords attached, it's just being soaked in the Epsom salt for 90mins. Again, you take a shower to wash it off.. Which it does. They also provide you earplugs so the eater won't get in your ears. I went late morning, but next time I go, I think I'm going to go in the afternoon so that I'm tired and my brain isn't going 150miles an hour, maybe get a different experience that way. We shall see. For me at least, I do feel lighter and oddly refreshed from it. So, I'm definitely going back and see what else I can discover as I float on 1,000lbs of Epsom salt!

Every Friday night feels like a sacred reset--and I truly wouldn't want to spend my evening anywhere else. Kaori's full moon sound baths with Reiki are especially powerful. My friend Julie happen to recommend this place so I wanted to explore what this place has to offer. *Location & Parking* La'akea Healing center is located on the ground floor of Maunakea street side and parking is located inside Marin tower. *Store vibe* Their store entrance has an automatic lock so if the door is closed, just make sure to knock and someone will come down and open it but if the door is open just walk right in. I love how the room is decorated with mix of Hawaiian monarch portraits, medicinal indoor plants, Filipino ancestors alter. And an inventory of sage, sometimes they will have handmade Filipino charms, candles, crystals, herbs, salts, tarot decks, incense, intention sprays, holy water, and deity statues. The Laakea Healing center is ran by Rev. Zanny (Filipino guy) and Kumu Darcie (loving wife), they both offer different healing services. If you go on their website, click on the 'book' section and it ranges from hypnosis, reiki healing, tarot reading, Tawas, Hilot, Fertility Hilot, and spiritual cleansing. *Hilot Session* They had a limited time discounted 30 minute Hilot session so I took advantage of that and booked it for February 7. Kumu Darcie greeted me when I entered the shop and notified Rev. Zanny that I arrived. I walked up to the spot where there was a beautiful alter with pictures of past relatives, pets, and other Filipino decorations. Rev. Zanny will perform a paper Tawas and Hilot according to my body's needs. After the session I felt like I reconnected with my ancestors and they even visited me during my session! Felt that my body's tension has been release too! *Tawas Workshop* This 4 hour Tawas class was very fun and informative! Kumu Darcie gave the lectures through PowerPoint and gave us a packet that goes more into detail if we want to study and practice more at home and Rev. Zanny does the demonstrations. We learned the paper, candle, and egg methods. This class really helps sharpen your intuition and a deeper understanding about the spiritual importance of these tools. Honestly I was nervous because I was scared I was going to do the steps wrong with my Tawas partners but Darcie and Zanny will help polish your skills and give out pointers. After both experiences I am determine to save up and join their 9 day Hilot Retreat for next year! I have spiritual gifts and I felt called to reconnect with my ancestral roots.
