This is a wonderful spot that should be much busier than it is. The vibe is dark and cool, all the plants are refreshing, and in general it's just a very nice place to be. The cocktails are inventive, well balanced, and delicious. The food is always brought out fast and is wonderful. It's priced reasonably for what you get. This is one of my favorite bars in the city. read more

Hidden gem with the most delicious cocktails! I love this place, and go as often as I can. My favorite drinks are the espresso martini, negroni, and the kuhlwein. This was such an amazing find! The atmosphere is so welcoming and just a great vibe. I got the No Brainer, and the name is fitting! So refreshing, it is definitely a no brainer - just get it! The staff was so friendly. It is a real treat for the neighborhood to have this gem. My friend and I are already planning the next visit and brining our husbands. Upstairs lounging is great but the swank and cozy basement space also surprised me. Came in on a weekday to try out their cocktails and vibe. Although not the biggest space I appreciated how much available seating there was and although there were a regular amount of people I didn't feel cramped in the least bit. The bartender was super friendly and patient answering all the questions I threw at him. There were a number of drinks on tap and the cocktails were all super creative so they were fun to try. I didn't get a chance to try the food since it was later in the evening but would definitely be interested in coming here for dinner. Ample parking on the street in front of the location. read more

Excellent local cocktail bar. Portage Park needed this! Now they have a second bar kind of a speak easy feel in the basement. Cocktails are excellent, the music and plants give it a cool vibe. Food has changed a bit since it opened I think it's finding its culinary identity. When I was there recently my girlfriends and I ordered a bunch of shared plates and we enjoyed everything! Marvin and Christina are friendly, the bar's ambiance is inviting, the clientele is hip and diverse, and the cocktails and menu are just enough. I have a new home base, and I could not be happier. We rented them out for our wedding reception and I cannot say enough good things about Moonflower!! The team was absolutely incredible to work with -- extremely responsive to my (many) questions and just so incredibly nice and easy to work with! We had an easy job of making it a great event with the beautiful backdrop that Moonflower already provided. Marvin and Zach were my primary contacts and were on top of every detail, Rachel in the kitchen was super accommodating to dietary needs -- and we couldn't count how many of our guests were RAVING about the appetizers (particularly the amazing vegan options)! Amazing drinks goes without saying, but they also had a fantastic list of low/no proof options for those who aren't big drinkers and that really allowed everyone to enjoy the cocktail bar experience. I just can't say enough good things -- if you are thinking about having an event here, just do it! Thanks to the whole Moonflower staff for helping us make our day unforgettable! read more
