*INITIAL REVIEW* Since I have made many new friends around and about Historic Downtown Melbourne, I've taken notice of any changes happening along Melbourne Main Street. One of them was the opening of this new business, Moon River Cafe & Curiosities. To be fair, I was unsure if any cafe would do well here given the fact we have many (and I mean many) cafes and coffee shops including The Sun Shoppe, Villon Coffee, Jacqueline's Bakery, and 905 Cafe to name just a few. But peering inside, I knew I just had to check it out when they opened. I would have the opportunity to experience a "soft" taste of Moon River Cafe & Curiosities (which I will shorthand simply to Moon River for the rest of the review) during a soft opening. Since then, I came back about two more times, and let me say, this is definitely a cafe you need to check out. Even though an address is provided, Moon River is located on the northside of the Melbourne Main Street stretch of East New Haven Ave., right next to Let's Plant It! On the outside, Moon River looks like any of the other many businesses along Melbourne Main Street as they are one of the lots in a business building and not stand-alone like Main Street Pub or Hell 'n Blazes or other stand-alone businesses. It is inside where you know you stepped into something amazing, definitely designed to spark your curiosity, awe, and wonder. According to amazing mother and daughter duo whom own Moon River, the cafe is a lifelong dream brought to life, Moon River Cafe is a love letter to the Melbourne, Florida community. More than just a café, it's an experience--where artistry, ambiance, and exceptional flavors meet. The main room you enter definitely has the hallmarks of a classic tea house, but one in which the owners who run it are well-traveled. There are a large array of artifacts that seem to be gathered from all walks of life around the world including a Chinese foo dog, old world clocks, porcelain art, and much more all for the patron's viewing pleasure. The Galleria displays numerous art pieces from local artists as well as sporting a beautiful wooden bookshelf featuring local artists. Finally, Palm Court is where you can enjoy a tea party with family and friends. To be honest, it is hard to "simply explain" the ambiance that Moon River brings. You have to be there to fully experience it. As for food, Moon River has a nice selection of drinks (cafe items), sandwiches, and bakery goods. I had two sandwiches and two drinks from them: the peanut butter and jelly club, the Imperial Hen, Parisian Drinking Chocolate, and Thai iced tea (food described in pictures). The drinking chocolate was a fun drink to have and the Thai tea was delicious. As for the sandwiches, very good but I will say the Imperial Hen is pricey for what you get. Finally, rest rooms (the men's at least) was clean and well-stocked. Also, it was decorated to fit with the rest of the cafe's ambiance. For my initial review, I am giving Moon River four out of five stars. Interesting use of the local which includes decor, friendly staff and I did get to meet the owners in which they both work alongside their staff (the mom was actually my server), and the food was delicious albeit the Imperial Hen being a little more expensive in association to what you get. And one day, I might come in with my traveling art easel. Since Moon River is a love letter to the community in which artist can come here to create, it would be an honor and privilege to paint something in their space.

I have not had a thing to eat here yet but I am in love with this place already. You will find a variety of seating choices-tables, couches, and comfy chairs. Ran into a couple of friends snacking and doing water color. The decor is very eclectic and artsy. It's the kind of place you want to hang out in for a while. I looked at the menu and was definitely interested. The artsy girls told me the food is great! I am planning on taking the husband soon.

Amazing cafe that transports like Alice in Wonderland. Ate: Midsummer--sandwich with mascarpone (yum), basil, blueberries, honey and basil. Added veg sausage. Drank: Vanilla oat milk hot latte. Nice cup and saucer. Bonus--Try out a Friday night poetry night, weekend book meet up, or other creative event!

This place is eye candy everyplace you look. One of those cannot miss places if you're in the area. Coffee and food are both fantastic! Absolutely worth the visit.

Visually looks like a nice place. I stopped by to check it out. I don't care for the counter service. There's seems to be no table service.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more For me, Historic Downtown Melbourne has become one of my most-visited hubs for socialization, especially in south Brevard County. Thanks to the brilliant people at DTMB or Melbourne Main Street, the area has been improving. I definitely like the new businesses coming in, taking a slice of history in their own sake. Once such place is Villon Coffee. Originally, a "food truck" as the are more of a coffee truck, Villon Coffee (which I will shorthand simply to Villon for the remainder of the review) has expanded to the point they now have two brick-and-mortal locations. The one I like to frequent is, of course, Historic Downtown Melbourne. Now to be fair, they are an a-okay coffee shop, but mostly because of how management runs it more so than the vibe and staff. The vibe and staff: excellent! Definitely have a lot of good things to say about Ally. However, how management (whom I never seen onsite whatsoever) runs the location, is no bueno! Though an address is given, Villon is located on the southside of New Haven Ave. that runs though Historic Downtown Melbourne. If it helps, they are more on the eastside of the town stretch just west of the train tracks. Villon is a smallish location consisting of a main serving room and a "waiting" room that showcases their wares for sale. The waiting room also has an island table and couch, which works well as board games (though most of them are incomplete) are available for guests. The pinball machine, Godzilla, requires 50 cents to play. The main serving floor has bar seating along the storefront window, serving counter, and the side window. As for decor, a lot of yellow, black, and greys in modern art triangles and flowers that highlight their color scheme. Also, the restroom is gender neutral, which is fine as it is a single-person restroom. Usually clean and stocked, but not the best looking restroom. Ever seen a grungy warehouse look in a restroom but was still clean? That's what Villon here has. This is where things are critical. For some reason, management usually has only one person on staff. Now to be fair, most of the day only needs one person, but during rushes, you'll end up waiting. This is not a food truck which is understandable why there is a wait, but an actual brick-and-mortar restaurant. And given its small size and menu, you'd think they would be able to keep rotation on goods up to par. There have been times I came in in which Ally has said they don't have something or another. This goes for their food which I am unsure is either premade or storebought. Needless to say, they don't have the space to cook anything from scratch, so everything is "heat and ready to serve." There is a couple of coolers with bagels, and oatmeal bites ready to eat, though. But the food that really stands out is the wares made by Chef & Summers. They are delicious, but sometimes, they can be sold out. Villon is also quite innovative in their drinks, more so than any other coffee shop I can think of locally. Ergo, they get the hit-or-miss judgment a tad bit more, but because they are being bold more so than being either good or bad. Overall, Villon, as mentioned earlier, is an a-okay place. The staff does the best they can with what they have and what they are given. But I guarantee you they'd be better with more management support. Since I have visited this place numerous times prior to my initial review, I can definitely give Villon a solid three out of five stars with the aforementioned points above. If management helps improve this location, then maybe, just maybe, I will give them a fair shake and update my review. Until then, good place to stop by if you are in the area and you just need a stop to go to, but definitely better coffee shop options out there. My suggestion: The Sun Shoppe at the west end of Historic Downtown Melbourne or Apocalpyse Coffee Roasters heading north on Babcock St. right at the intersection with US-1.

I know I know matcha tastes like you slid into outfield and ate grass but hear me out. It actually isn't so bad I topped it with vanilla foam and although it made it less healthier it's way better than a wheat grass shot! Pricing is reasonable and they have these muffins that was pretty much the same price as my drink but they are big enough to share. Service was quick and the staff friendly. Since you didn't get your Starbucks bear cup protest by going here instead: you won't be disappointed! J/k Oh, I forgot to mention my friend grabbed this cute shirt for me because I packed all long sleeves for my trip and it was hot. Leave it to me to pack for a cold freeze and then fly home the day before it happened! Anyways, if you're in the area or just passing through make a stop here.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more As I continue to search for amazing breakfast/brunch restaurants within the Space Coast, this restaurant was recommended to me by, believe it or not, the Yelp algorithm itself. I already hit up the majority of breakfast/brunch restaurants recommended by my fellow elites, why not see what the mathematical mind within the app has to say, right? It is not like it is AI right? Along with my adventuring sidekick Paula, we went to Around the World Cafe Bakery (which I will shorthand simply to Around the World for the remainder of this review), in hopes of trying different kinds of food from... well... around the world. It is in the name right? Now I get a place with such a name won't have ALL the food from around the food, but they do have a fantastic selection from many countries around the world, specifically Europe. Let me tell you, this was such an experience, it may actually get one of my rare "five star ratings on the initial visit" reviews. What am I saying, of course Around the World is getting such a rating. Let me give you deets why. For starters, Around the World is located in a dinky strip mall on the southside of US-192. There is parking on that road itself, but it is parallel parking heading eastward. There more parking in the "back of the store" accessible through 6th Ave. The ambiance and seating definitely has this European feel to it. Take note of the eastern shelf featuring numerous knick-knacks from around the world, specifcally Europe. Almost all of them are for sale, too. As for the food, it too has a worldly, specifically European flair. Some of their delectable wares include both omelettes and crepes cooked with the ingredients of a specific country in mind. For example, the Greek omelette has spinach, feta, mozerella, and tomato. The Norwegian crepe has smoked wild salmon, yogurt dressing, green onion, and cucumber. Let's not forget the bakery that includes French macaroons, Napoleon cakes, stuffed French toast, and much more. All this food is made even better by the fair market prices around $15 average per item, the family-feel the mom n' pop restaurant provides (as I think it is family-owned, too), and the fact the owner/head chef, Iggy Miro, will sometimes play romantic guitar for his guests. On a sidenote, there is only one unisex restroom. I can see it becoming dirty given how busy it gets, but that is more situational given it is only one. Ultimately, this initial visit was so good, it surpassed everything I expected. Usually I would give an initial visit that is good just four stars, but with all the extra I did not expect for such a place, they definitely make an impact for me to go all the way on the rating. I will definitely be back to eat more of their wares, especially the sweets in the bakery case.

I am actually surprised i didn't rate this place before . Their service is impeccable, friendly,…read moresemi-fast, always correct. Their food is also very good but i would stick to their speciality, which is water European dishes and some Asian dishes too. We tried the salads and i was not impressed, however everything from pierogis and soups to salted vegetables, crepes, sausages, everything is exceptional and it tastes like home. Overall very relaxed ambiance, gears service and food. You might just wait a second to get your food but it's worth it for sure. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. If not the stars reflect that.

**UPDATED REVIEW**…read more The last time I reviewed The 905 Cafe (which I will shorthand simply to 905) was early in my Yelping career. I don't even remember if I earned RED yet, but I surely enjoyed being honest about where I partook my patronage to. 905 received my highest rating for an initial review for a local business, and unless you know, that is always going to be four out of five stars because my fifth star is always earned for consistency as in "consistently being good/great/amazing!" I will stress that I haven't been back to 905 as much as I'd like simply because of work, but now that I have finally made many returns, I can happily say that after eight years (which is way too long if you ask me), I finally made enough visits to write that 905 is consistent and thus have earned their fifth star in which they are one of the few - after I have organized my reviewing style and detail - to be a perfect score local business. In general, all the details I described in my previous review are still effect, but there are some changes that need to be noted. Firstly, 905 is no longer located at 905. It is across the street at 908. They moved back in 2020 during the pandemic. Secondly, there are now more wares inside from local creators, and even a small book and media purchase area. Finally, I must stress how amazing the soups are. Take note that like any other place that makes one pot for the day and finishes that pot in said day, depending on the time you go and how much soup is left, you might get a "flavor bomb" at times. For example, if I show up just an hour or two before closing, my soup will be loaded with flavor because flavor settles over time, even if you mix the soup every so often. That's just the truth. Finally, the ambiance still has the feel of going to grandma's house, but a bit more modernization, too. Nothing too bad but it should be noted. And I don't think I said this last time, but the restroom is gender neutral and very clean. Only place in the entire restaurant where profanity is shown and I don't mean graffiti on the walls because they don't have that. You'll see if you go. Ultimately, they deserve their five-out-of-five stars and it has been a pleasure eating there. I always go back for their soups so I will definitely be around.

As cozy, kitschy, and warm as though you stepped into a midwestern grandma's kitchen :3 Very cute…read more Though the coffee leaves a bit to be desired, I can appreciate the charm of this quaint little cafe, and the friendly service makes up for the mediocre brew. COCONUT ICED TEA: Like a sweet tea, but with a light coconut flavor (made with coconut water maybe)? Simple & refreshing. My bf's 905 Signature was... Sugary! Very sweet. Other drinks we ordered met the same fate... Maybe better if you're a bigger sweet tooth.
